Worry-free Booking: we provide $1500 accidental damage protection at no extra charge in case something gets damaged!
Instant Booking is available for your convenience; please note that we reserve the right to cancel your booking if we find out your group does not meet our requirements. You will be required to provide a photo ID prior to check in and the address on the ID must match the address on your payment method used for booking. We require a signed contract for renting--you will be emailed the link to the contract. You will be asked for the full names of all members of your group, and the ages by count. No visitors, other than those listed, are permitted at the house at any time.
Just a reminder: CFAR insurance is HIGHLY recommended if you would be upset to lose part, or all, of your prepaid rent for this stay, based on the cancelation policy. Be forewarned: Covid closures of events, travel restrictions and fear of Covid exposure are all invalid reasons for cancelation under our policy. For those not wishing to purchase insurance, other options include (a) renting properties which allow last minute cancelation, or (b) wait to book until right before your trip, after you know your group can make the trip.
What makes our cabin different than others in Shaver Lake? We have air conditioning (rare in our community.) We are in a very quiet area, so you are not right on top of other groups. We are handicap accessible on the ground floor, including a wheelchair ramp and roll-in shower. We have a spacious house that was designed for larger groups so you have plenty of seating for hanging out, we are kid and pet friendly, we have a walking trail across the bottom of our acre plus yard, plenty of parking space, really nice kitchen utensils and place settings, we make up the beds for you before you come, we have a gas BBQ, and--well, so many other nice features!
Nestled deep in the majestic western Sierras (but easily accessible by road) our 4,000+ square foot retreat with its spacious kitchen, 4.5 baths, 8-12 person bunkroom (3 full over full and 1 twin over twin), 3 big master bedrooms (one with an in-room two person Jacuzzi jetted tub), living room, den, man-cave with surround sound hi-res TV, this retreat has an atmosphere of quiet and comfort.
Fall, spring and summer guests enjoy spring skiing, hundreds of miles of hiking and bike trails (one even passes through our backyard), popular 4 wheel drive roads, rock climbing, world class freshwater fishing (lake and stream, stocked and native), swimming and nature viewing.
Winter Guests enjoy spectacular downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and sledding.
Upstairs and garage are wheelchair accessible, with a bathroom & shower for wheelchair access. The Man Cave offers a place to just hang out and make noise without bothering anyone else.
The constant on-demand water heater never runs out of hot water so you have plenty! Fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, all cooking gear, and a table seating 12 at a time.
Electric power can be turned off here (and in any other areas in California considered "high risk for fire") by the electric company, without warning. Storms can also turn off electric. This means wi-fi, air conditioning, possibly cell phone connection, lights, TV will all be off. We do NOT offer refunds for lack of electric service. There is emergency lighting and heat and cooking by wood stove available.
There is a hiking trail off the back of the property, so you can hike most seasons (or snow shoe during the winter months) without driving anywhere. This is a very quiet neighborhood so you can really enjoy nature without seeing a lot of people; deer, coyote, raccoons and other creatures amble across the property all day and night. The roads and the driveway are cleared by a snow plow, so you won't be stuck in a large storm. There is a large deck to hang out on and enjoy the woods. A gas BBQ is available for outdoor grilling. Lots of extra chairs and tables available for large events. Dishes and tableware are of high quality.
Please review our refund policy before booking and purchase the appropriate travel insurance, as needed. If you are worried about losing money due to cancelling the reservation, consider Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) insurance.

Needs some new mattress’s in the upper rooms. And a hospital bed would make an amazing difference for those in a wheelchair and quadriplegic conditions. Nice place to stay.
The house was very comfortable, we had plenty of room and enjoyed our stay, it was well equipped. The area is beautiful, and we enjoyed exploring. We would definitely come back.
We loved the home, so much space and very comfy and beautiful. Located in a great neighborhood and host very nice. We just can’t wait to book this home again
The property was very well kept and in a peaceful location. Had a great trip and Dottie was easy to communicate with. Large space with plenty of room for group to spread out.
My family and I had a great time, was very cozy and relaxing for everyone. Would definitely recommend to stay at this location. Do you own this property and plan to sell it in the future?

I'm so glad you had a great time! (Yes, I own the property, I designed and built it about 20 years ago. No, I'm not planning to sell it anytime soon! I love going to Shaver Lake and love staying in my home there!)
Great place to stay at. Big family we have big house to enjoy. We all fit comfortably. Location is beautiful. And kids love the snow. Lake is near to emjoy a relaxing time. Over-all everything we needed to have a great time was here. Special thanks to our host. For everything that she did for us. We appreciate it.
The property was amazing!! The host is great at communicating details about property check in and check out. She even helped us make a last minute change to how information was shared. We held several planning meetings while we were there. The meeting rooms were perfect. The kitchen was great for making meals for 20 people. Plenty of room to sit and eat. The rooms and beds were fantastic. No complaints at all. We have booked this location several years in a row, and we will keep doing that.
We had 4 families come together to stay at this property. Ages ranged from 8-78. The setup was perfect for us. The kids all got to sleep in the Fox Den and then play pool when they woke up before the adults. The whole area was very peaceful. The dining room table made it possible for all of us to eat together. Amazing place!
We had a great time at Shaver Lake! We have a group of 15 people and this house fit us perfectly 😊. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, lots of space. Kitchen is stocked with every type of cookware! The ice maker wasn’t working and the host was easy to communicate with. We look forward to visiting again!

Thank you so much, Brandi, for staying!!!!
We very much appreciate you notifying of us the ice maker so we can get the repair guys to fix it! I'm so glad you got the "White Christmas" weather treatment while you were there!
(FYI: next winter is supposed to be an "El Nino" so we expect more, and even earlier, snow!)

Natal Granite is the Real Deal
If you're looking for a place that can accommodate 20 people and each one having their own bed for a business retreat, Natal Granite is it. The location was excellent. The house had everything we needed to cook a dinner for 20 adults. Plus, any question we had met with an immediate response.

Cliff, Thanks for the great review! We have been hosting business, church and workshop retreats for many years now and love doing this! We have a Yoga retreat coming up this weekend, for their 2nd retreat--they love the deck for doing yoga. Glad you had a good trip, and much thanks for how clean you left the house!
This place was perfect for our family!!! The place was spacious, lots of bed, lots of rooms. The man cave was the favorite for the kids. Such a comfortable place.
***Dottie was amazing, there was supposed to be a snow storm and she made our safety a priority. We had to leave a day earlier and made sure we had the day allotted for. She made sure we had all the information we needed for our family trip so that there were no hiccups along the way. By far one of the nicest places I have rented out

Thank you for your kind review! I leave days open in Winter before and after a stay so that it is easier for people to travel if a storm happens during their stay. I was so glad you were able to arrive a day early and were open to possible need to stay a day longer at the end of your trip, due to the storms approaching! I think this is going to be a very nice snowy Winter!
Our group had a great time staying at the cabin! Lots of space, plenty of beds, fully stocked kitchen, and a great location. Due to the fire damage to the Shaver Lake sewer system, guests are asked to be very conservative with the water use (no use of jacuzzi, no long showers, no running water). It didn't spoil our wonderful stay though. Hope, the issues are resolved by the city soon. The hiking trail goes right by the cabin for a nice walk and the nearby area isn't burnt by the fires. The host was very responsive and proactive prior to our arrival and we didn't have any issues during the stay

Thanks for the review! I am so glad your family stayed and enjoyed the area!
We do an annual trip with a group of families to visit the snow. We loved the Natal house. The pictures do not do it justice. We had 8 adults and 7 children. There was plenty of space for everyone. The large kitchen and dining table meant we could do food prep and eating as a group. The backyard had a little hill the kids loved sledding off of. 20 minutes away we were able to get up a little higher in elevation and have fresh snow for sledding. We had such a great time we are returning next year :)

Fantastic!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. What an ideal home for a big family like ours. The only problem was that the water in kitchen wasn't very hot and the pressure was low. That made cleaning up pretty difficult. I tried calling the maintenance man Sunday night but he didn't answer. We did our best to adjust. It was so much fun playing in the local snow. Thank you so much for providing our family with such special memories.

So glad you enjoyed your stay! We have had a record snowfall and record cold this winter in the Sierras, and the utility company is having problems with freezing, so our water is just coming through with less volume at the moment. This is the first time in a long time Shaver Lake has had to cope with this much snow! We feel confident that once it thaws out they will figure out a plan for improvement, but in the meantime I am thankful they are delivering water at all. Please come back some time in the summer, too, and enjoy the wonders of the lake without snow!

Great family vacation home
We just got back from a weeks stay at the Natal home and we had a wonderful time. The house was perfect for our large family vacation. We had 7 grandchildren and 8 adults and we fit perfectly. The kids and adults loved playing pool. We loved the fully stocked kitchen and the roomy dining area. We had a blast cooking every night and all being able to sit in the kitchen and dining area together. We loved that we could spread out and not get on each others nerves. The kids could play downstairs and the adults could visit upstairs. The TVs in each room were a nice touch as was the dinnerware. It was nice to have such nice plates and glasses. Other homes we have rented usually use their left over dishes and nothing matches. We also took advantage of the hiking trail and hiked most everyday. We have voted and hope to come back in the winter to enjoy the snow. Thank you for having such a nice home available.
We actually rented three properties in shaver lake this summer and our favorite by far is this one. Dottie does a great job having a clean ready to go great for large grieves with three crockpots tons of utensils and plates lots of beds to sleep in and the most important thing air-conditioning! All for less than the other comparable house cost. This is our second year staying here and we will certainly be back.
Beautiful super clean comfortable house with plenty of room for our family (8 adults, 6 kids and our dogs) Great hiking trails out back and it’s an easy drive to the lake!! We had the most amazing time and created lasting memories we will cherish forever!! This is definitely the best house we have rented on vrbo!! Thank you!!!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Natal property. Our kids had a blast playing in the snow outside and exploring the area. Plenty of space inside and a wonderful inviting kitchen where we spent most of our time when not in the snow. Would definitely stay again!
This was our first family cabin trip ever. We had a group size of 20 which was made up of 5 families. Our search to accommodate our group size, along with a reasonable rate and available dates left us with little options. We came across this property and all agreed this was the best option. I cannot tell you how happy we were to have landed this gem! The pictures do not do this place justice. The house was very spacious and had everything you could possible need for day to day living. We brought extra cooking items, toiletries and other essentials but we could have save some space had we known the extent of what the property was equipped with. I could go on and on about how much we loved this place. It will def be part of our annual cabin trips. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!

Rebecca,
Thank you! That was a very sweet review! We are so happy to be able to host families and we were thrilled you had a good trip!
I wanted to mention that my cleaners told me you all did a wonderful job cleaning up, she rarely compliments guests so I wanted to pass this on to you. Thank you for being wonderful guests!

Photos do no justice for how the place really looks. Upon arrival check-in was easy. House we clean and had a fresh scent as noted by my sister who joined us. Plenty of room for our group of 20. Was pleasantly surprised at how stocked the house was. Have been to several other rental homes and this one far surpassed my expectations. House was much larger than I had expected and internet speed was great considering how many people were on at the same time. Thoroughly enjoyed our short time there. Will definitely recommend and will consider booking again sometime in the future. Kids loved it.

About the host
Hosted by Dottie Natal
I love the Sierras! Hiking, swimming, fishing, skiing, horseback riding--all this and more! My favorite place in the world is Shaver Lake. I love to draw and paint, breathe the fresh piney air, and spend as much time as I can in Shaver Lake.
Why they chose this property
After visiting the Shaver Lake area nearly every summer since 1969, my husband and I purchased a bare lot and built our house. I designed it and drew the blueprints and my brother did most of the construction (though I built the deck with the help of my sister and several women friends.) All the photos and artwork in the house are mine. I do the "decorating" and maintain the house, while my husband Dave maintains the yard and helps with the Spring and Winter cleans. I designed the house to be comfortable for large groups of people, with plenty of meeting and sitting areas, lots of sleeping options, and nice views from the various rooms.
What makes this property unique
You'll love the master bedrooms (get away from it all) and the Man Cave. You will find the hiking trail that crosses near the bottom of the property a lot of fun--you can hike or snow shoe for many miles without crossing a road. It's so quiet and peaceful in the mountains you will have a chance to really unwind and relax. Unlike most other rentals in Shaver Lake, we provide made up beds for you so you don't have to do this yourself.
