Downtown Carbondale

The property was in a good location to walk around town and visit shops and restaurants. Campus is close by too. The house matched the pictures and was a fit for my family of 5 and dogs. The washer and dryer is a bonus! If you want to stay in town with pets, this is a perfect fit!

Nice little house

The house was exactly what we needed for this stay. The beds were clean and comfortable. The house was simply decorated and the AC was nice and cool. The only real issue were the trains coming through town blowing their horns.

The property was clean. The backyard was perfect for the kids to run and play and for us to play some games.. The location is within walking distance of a lot of places to enjoy and driving distance to many great hiking areas. Nicely decorated and all the things we needed for our stay. The beds were super comfy.

SIU graduation

Stayed for two nights to attend SIU graduation. Nice central location. Plenty of space for the family. Had everything we needed. Even a wine opener! Beds were very comfortable.

SIU Sporting Event—Close to Natatorium

We were attending a swim meet at SIU. The house was close to the pool and a very short walking distance from several good eating establishments. Kitchen was well appointed with basic supplies. New beds were comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.

SIU visit

The backyard gazebo was wonderful to hang out. It is super close to SIU. It is city house with city noises. We come from the city so we loved the location and easy access to everything Carbondale. Close to hikes and wineries. The owner was great to work with. We loved that we could bring our dog. We will stay again.

Great for families with pets

Clean and great location. Walking distance to restaurants and groceries, but private enough to let young kids and dogs play in the yard. First floor is all laminate, second floor is carpet. Bedrooms are large and comfortable. Bring a sound machine if train noises wake you up (a few blocks away). We used as a base to hike Giant City and Fern Clyffe. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

Back in Carbondale

I rented Dave's House to check out Carbondale as a city; to make sure it was close enough to my sister's best friend in case she had an emergency, was a safe space for my her to live alone, food and life's necessities were close enough for my sister to walk to. . . and it is! The space was exactly as it appeared in online photos. . .cute and modern. Would highly recommend it.

Cozy home with comfy beds

We stayed here for a long work trip, and would overall recommend this home! The beds were very comfy and the kitchen had items many other places we've stayed at were lacking. The finishes and quality of the flip/remodel could be better and cleaner. House is located across the street from a bank, behind a strip of businesses, and near the train tracks, so it's not the quietest location. There is a yard with room for dogs, just note there's no fence and it's a corner lot. Good wifi speed too.

Cute renovated home

Convenient to SIU, this renovated older home was very pleasant. Beware that 2 of the 3 bedrooms are upstairs with no bathroom (I don't know if that was mentioned in the listing or not). It wasn't a problem for us, but it could be for some people. The individual AC units upstairs were great to have. There is definitely a train nearby that we heard during the daytime, but we weren't disturbed at night by it. Everything was comfortable, nice and clean.

Nice Home

Very nice place with more work in progress as he had let me know to property. Check in was very easy and if issues arose ~ Dave was quick in responding. Great kitchen facilities to prepare our meals. Beds were all very comfortable everyone staying agreed upon. Yes the train track is close but did not really notice it ~ there was a concert down the street on Saturday but they finished up around 10 but we had no issues with people attending.

When I booked this the checkout time was 11am. When we got there it was changed to 10am. The floors were very dirty, looked like pet hair. The tub was stained or dirty, I couldn't tell. The banister was held together with a garbage bag. The air vent was clogged with pet hair. The location was convenient for what we needed. Wouldn't recommend.

Acceptable location for a short stay

House was clean with new furniture. Photos of the property were accurate enough but hid some wear & tear, particularly in the bathroom. The trains were far enough away that they didn't really bother us. It was nice being close to the university and local attractions. The fenced-in back yard was nice for our pets, but the grass was unmowed nearly a foot tall. There's no direct door to the back yard - you have to go out the front door and through the back gate to access the yard. Future visitors should be aware that this house isn't located in a neighborhood with other homes - it's located between parking lots of various businesses. I recommend you leave valuables at home and stay aware of your surroundings when staying in this area.

Roomy, comfortable home

This home had plenty of room for myself and my dog. Plenty of sidewalks and small city park close by for walking. The home is a remodel. I went to giant city (20min away), garden of the gods (1hr) and the Shawnee wine trail and this was a good location to all them. On Friday and Saturday night, there is some activity around the house and the train is close by, but otherwise it is quiet for an in-town location. Would stay again.

Just Perfect

This is the perfect property for visited to SIU and the Carbondale area. Located right downtown, walking distance from restaurants and about a 3 minute drive to Saluki stadium. Well appointed kitchen too. Dave is great to work with. Highly recommend this property!

Great place to stay in town

Beautiful, comfortable house with everything you need to enjoy time in Carbondale. We did not have to leave our dog with a sitter. The yard is big and there are no neighbors to worry about. The beds are VERY comfortable. We were very happy and would recommend it to anyone. Even without the dog with us, I would rent house again over staying in a hotel.
