About this property
Magical Space by Metro/Alexandria/Harbor & Parking
Located less than half a mile or a mere 4 blocks from the Huntington Metro, we welcome you to our quiet, family-friendly home. With easy street-parking, on a hill overlooking Alexandria, you can relax in a very green, nature-filled space that is all your own.
✓ Easy, free, and safe street parking
✓ 5 minute walk to Huntington Metro, 7-Eleven and a half-dozen restaurants
✓ 10 minute drive to MGM, National Harbor and Old Town, Alexandria
✓ Easy, single train ride (8 stops) to Washington D.C.'s National Mall
✓ Fully equipped and stocked kitchenette for longer stays
✓ Projector with 84in screen and bluetooth Roku Streambar
✓ Full-sized washer and dryer dedicated to your use
✓ Fast, consistent WiFi
✓ Ours is a pet-free, non-smoking home so those with sensitivities and allergies will be comfortable
We live upstairs, above the apartment. This means that you may hear our squeaky, old floors as we move around above you. While we do our best to be good neighbors, we also provide ear plugs, a fan, and a sound machine to help with the noise. If you're used to apartment living, you'll be just fine.
The basement apartment is located on the lower level of our home, has it's own private entrance and is wholly dedicated to your stay.
Your very own washer/dryer is located in the entrance, we have our own machines so yours will not be shared by us.
We're here for you during your stay, and will reach out at least once to see if there's anything we can do to improve your experience. If you want to chat and learn about our lovely neighborhood, we're only a phone call or message away.
Alexandria is a beautiful historical town with ancient roots not only involving the American forefathers, but also Native American history. The oldest artifacts discovered here date indicate that people have been frequenting the area as far back as 13,000 years ago. In present day, the Common Room is right next to the Huntington Metro which makes it very easy to get to other parts of Virginia, DC, and all of the local sites and restaurants you might be interested in.
METRO ACCESS
Our home is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the Huntington metro stop on the Yellow line. Simply take Biscayne down the hill and turn left on Huntington. The metro stop will be 1 block down on your left.
PARKING
Our street is permit parking only, so we provide our guests with a guest parking pass. Keeping the pass in its plastic protector, simply place it inside your car, on the dashboard.
There is always an available parking space right in front of our house, so getting in and out will be very convenient for our guests.
1. Our street is permit parking only, we will provide 1 guest pass for your vehicle.
2. No keys to lose or to return! This property provides secure, keyless entry with a Schlage Smart Lock. You can unlock the door with your personal entry code issued to you for the duration of your stay.
NOTE: Check your email immediately. Your personal code will be sent to the email address associated with your AirBnB account once your booking is confirmed. This code will be effective only at the 5:00 p.m. check-in time on the day of your arrival through the 11:00 a.m. check-out time on the last day of your stay.
3. There are a set of stairs that must be used to enter and exit this home.
4. This home is a well-lit basement unit with the owners (us) living upstairs. We ask guests to respect quiet hours from 11pm-8am both inside and outside. Noise travels and we want to keep our neighbors happy so we can continue to make this space available for guests.
5. Our home is well maintained and treated periodically for pests and insects as are most homes in the neighborhood. However, we cannot control the occasional bug creeping in to say hello or found dead (this a good sign the place is treated). We won't issue a refund for a dead or occasional live bug. It's the South and we're located next to nature. If you happen to see a bug just let us know, we can spray for you. We don't foresee this being an issue during your stay, but we wanted to mention it.

About the host
Hosted by Dani Amsalem
Thank you for your interest in staying with us. My wife Megan and I really enjoy hosting guests in The Common Room. After staying in high-end BnBs, comfortable mom-and-pop BnBs and even a boat (fun story), we believe we've found what works.
From providing the essentials of a clean space, to the personal touches that offer simple comforts, we hope that you'll enjoy your stay in The Common Room. We aren't trying to automate your AirBnB experience, instead we're trying to provide a fun and unique experience where you can unwind and relax in a space you can call your own.
