This little cabin in the woods over looking a prairie is a great space for travelers that like to be cozy and secluded.
Just 5 minutes from the city of Baraboo and 7 minutes from the Devil's Lake State Park entrance. It features modern comfort for solo travelers or couples.
Guest access
A private driveway will lead you to the cottage, which is surrounded by woods and prairie. There are 30 acres of woods and prairie with established walking trails that you can hike or stroll through. Very private and enchanting! There is a parking spot provided for you about 300 feet from cabin. If you arrive late at night, it can be very dark. We suggest using a flashlight or your phone to navigate the path safely. Easy self-check-in system with door code. Bring firewood if you plan on having a fire in the fire pit.

Greatly enjoyed staying on this property and exploring the acreage. Located a short way from Mirror Pond State Park, Devil's Lake and downtown Baraboo. Be religious about applying your big spray during the skeeter season.
This cabin was absolutely wonderful home base for our for our girls weekend to Devils Lake area. We loved coming back to such a quiet, tucked away place that was still close enough to all of our adventures. The cabin itself was beautiful inside and perfect for preparing light meals and enjoying the beautiful prairie views (and mowed walking trails) or an evening bonfire. 5 stars all around and can’t wait to stay again!
The property is absolutely gorgeous! We loved seeing all of the wildlife in the fields throughout the day. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from the window.
Enjoyed our time here! Recommend arriving before sunset to allow for easier navigation as surrounding streets are not well lit. Host was very warm and welcoming and came out to greet us. The spot itself was nice, cozy, and clean. Appreciated that appliances and decor were high quality and did not skimp at all on quality.
Totally peaceful and quiet, with the exception of a Van Halen cover band at a nearby bar on the second night. Loads of trails so we spent the morning walking those before heading over to Devil's Lake. Coffee and Prairie Netflix to use were definite plusses. Sweet notebook to share experiences with other travelers. We will be back!!
Absolutely loved the stay! My partner and I loved the remote feel, the quiet nights but also how close it was so attractions like Devils Lake State Park and downtown Baraboo. The vrbo was super clean and very cozy feeling with perfectly working heating and water. Kitchen was stocked and everything worked perfect! Thank you to our gracious hosts, we truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come again!
I loved my stay here. A wonderful tiny home laid out and furnished expertly. I felt right at home. My favorite was drinking coffee on the deck early in the morning, looking at the prairie, with the dawn rising and a full moon in the sky. Owls and cranes calling. The host has made trails both in the woods and prairie which we walked daily. I definitely will return perhaps in late spring to see the prairie in that season!
Extremely peaceful and quiet! Wonderful place for those seeking solitude and one with nature. Some misunderstanding on my part of reservation dates, but John was very gracious in allowing an extra night.
The Little House in the Big Woods on the Prairie was so cute, clean, and had everything we needed! The directions to get there were easy to follow and we found the place with no issues! It was really fun exploring some of the woods and the prairie! Would definitely recommend to anyone who doesn’t like staying at hotels. Thank you John & Laurel for making our stay so welcoming!
We had an amazing time at the Little House! It was so cute and had fantastic views of the prairie from the deck. We enjoyed walking all the trails along the property and loved the convenience to hiking at Devils Lake and the restaurants in Baraboo! It’s a great place to relax and just enjoy nature and even though it’s a tiny home it had everything we needed! Plus a thoughtful basket of snacks and coffee was provided. Could not have asked for a better stay! We will be back and would highly recommend to others!
Fantastic visit! Since it rained for most of the weekend, we weren’t able to explore much but the grounds were beautiful. Check in was smooth, all the appliances worked. Check out was easy which made it very stress free. We’ll definitely be back!
Perfect place to get away from it all. Tucked in behind an old farm, down a path in a meadow, with a view of the setting Sun. The 'cabin' is actually a 'Tiny house' much like a RV, but it is a small house. Much more solidly built. Full real knotty pine interior, very nice. Has a standard trailer type floor plan, with a small bathroom at one end, and bedroom at the other. Very cozy. Had a big thunderstorm at night, and never had a worry. Tucked in the edge of woods next to the meadow. Left the window blind up, and watched the lighting while laying in bed at night.Plain to stay here again, it is our kind of place and owners are great. Not too many disadvantages, the walk to the cabin could be a challenge in bad weather. They do have an aluminum garden cart for you to use to take your luggage to the cabin.b The floor plan in cabin is tight compared to regular cabin. The AC is not ducted, the unit is in the center kitchen room, and doesn't reach the bathroom or bedroom. But if you leave the bedroom door open and set the fan at high with a low setting like 69, it works well enough. Just be sure to get it going right away. There is heat in every room, so no problem in the winter. Otherwise, just a great place. The the trails in the meadow and woods have so many interconnecting trails, it would be easy to get lost. Didn't have time to walk them all and want to, next time. Very close to Devil's Lake State Park, but still need a car.
The Little House provided me the transition from tent camping to the feeling of camping without all the worry and work. Check-in was simple. The kitchen facilities and related equipment were perfect for my menus. I was comfortable in both the bedroom and bathroom. Though it is a little house, I’m not- little, 6’6” 302lbs, think a GB Packer left tackle. The location provided excellent access to my search for wineries, breweries, and distilleries.
Beautiful location, lovely pine walls, we live in small house, but this cabin could have been a tad larger. we were tripping over each other. extremely well kept, prairie outdoors is gorgeous, love the philosophy of the owners would likely return, emailing to contact the owners was a bit difficult especially when wifi didn't always work
