Superior Cottage includes two bedrooms with 3 beds, a futon, full kitchen and bath, living room with Roku TV and Wifi available. A newly built bunk house now offers more sleeping with 2 beds, an indoor 1/2 bath, and outdoor shower for an additional fee, please reach out and request this.

This is the perfect summer location! Watch Munising's best display of the 4th of July fireworks right from the home. Spend your time with mother nature while checking out an abundance of waterfalls, hiking trails, beach areas, and recreation trails. Protected by Grand Island and located on the East shore of Munising Bay, enjoy this quaint lake Superior cottage complete with a private 75 foot sandy beach. Bring your own water crafts to have a blast in the clear blue waters of Gitchee Gumee. Wake up to a breathtaking sunrise over the water then walk for just a moment and enjoy very near attractions like the Riptide Ride, Glass Bottom Boat Shipwreck Tours and Scuba Diving, pontoon and kayak rentals, Muldoon's Pasties (voted #1 in the UP!), Hillside Party Store with gas, and of course a public boat launch is also available. Bike trails are close and even play a round of golf on the beautiful 18 hole Pictured Rocks Golf and Country Club just a few minutes away. Just a mile to get downtown from the cottage, get an ice cream cone or specialty sandwich at Falling Rock Café and Bookstore before you enjoy a nice day walking to local gift shops, or go down to Bayshore Park to see live music and farmers markets, and of course the world known Pictured Rocks Boat Tours.

***PLEASE NOTE!! NEW owners live across the street and own the property in front of the cottage. If they park their boats on their lawn there is nothing we can do about it. Photos taken were prior to them moving in. There is a new photo to show the view when their boats are there.

***Door code will be released the day of check-in for security purposes.

Great getaway!

We had a wonderful family vacation here! Its location is a little private than the pictures implied, but in the heart of Munising and right on the water. It’s a gorgeous area. Property managers were very responsive to whatever we needed.

Hiking Week

Cute little place. Water view. Clean. We were in the area to do some hiking, and this was a good space for us. Convenient to the city. Nice deck overlooking the bay.

Disappointed

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We showed up, thinking we were going to have a beautiful view of the lake as the owners have taken pictures from every angle, but the angles right off of the deck. There is a storage lot between the rental and Shore and our view consisted of a big brown shed, a pontoon boat, and a big black trailer. Contacted the owner about our disappointment and were told too bad. The cottage was cute and clean.

Great time in Munising

Our family of 5 had a great visit to Munising. Everything in the property listing was exactly as promised with the exception that the second room with three twins had recently been converted to two. Kindly, the property manager gave our girls access to the bunk house which was greatly appreciated. My 11-year old could have stood at the little beach area for three days straight throwing rocks. Had a blast. As described well in other reviews, this is right off the highway and next to boats taking kayakers out. Therefore, it is pretty loud. Otherwise, well-appointed, and exactly what we needed.

Sweet Sunrise Views

Cozy cottage, very clean with a sweet sunrise view. We enjoyed coffee in the morning watching sunrise. Close to Pictured Rocks boat tour and central to many hiking trails and waterfalls.

Cozy, Cute, Comfortable

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The good: the house is really cute and well maintained. The kitchen is newer, well-stocked with everything you could need. The washer & dryer were CLUTCH. Little breezeway before entering to kick off sandy shoes and wet clothes. Adorable deck, charcoal grill, hammocks were comfortable and quiet, and of course the little beach was private and fun for the family. Our bed (king) was extremely comfortable. Cons: definitely on the smaller side. Cramped. We are four people (2 adults, 2 kids) so if you've got older kids or more than 4, expect space to be on the tighter side. Seating in the living room (TV area) wasn't super comfortable for lounging after long days out hiking / kayaking. The property on its own is in a busy area. There were large trailers and boats sitting right in front of the deck, and people smoking cigarettes on their porch right next door. Nobody's fault, nobody did anything wrong, but just know that some of the photos make it look more private than it is. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and loved the little cottage.

Love the UP

Great little house to stay close to everything we wanted to see in the Upper Peninsula. Made day trips every day to waterfalls and hikes. Weather was perfect all week too. House is close to the road so some road noise at night.

Girls trip

The cottage was very cute & clean. The location was perfect and right on Lake Superior. We enjoyed our time in Munising and the weather was beautiful. So much to do and see.

Overall Wonderful!

Overall we really enjoyed our three days at the Superior Lake Cottage. The cottage was clean enough (better than most hotels). We loved being in town, however, that meant we had a loud/busy road right behind us. We beach was a pleasant surprise as no photos were shown online (keep in mind the water view you see out the kitchen window is private property). The cottage is right next to Pictured Rocks Kayaking which offered some entertainment watching people get on/off the boats and the boats coming and going. Unfortunately, the port-o-potties of Pictured Rocks Kayaking but up against the woods of the cottage property and when the wind blew from that direction, you could smell the port-o-potties. Overall - we enjoyed our time in Munising and would stay at the Superior Lake Cottage again!

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: If you are looking for something that is convenient to surrounding attractions but still offers a lake view, this property works. If you are looking for privacy, peace and quiet, this is not the place for you. It is on a heavily traveled road in a commercial area. The main cottage is small and average quality, suitable for a couple with younger children. If you have adults and teenagers, I recommend you get the bunkhouse as well. The property was clean with the basics; however, some minor maintenance items were a distraction (like the squishy subfloor in front of the shower, the toilet lid that didn't fit correctly, and a few other odds and ends that wouldn't take much to fix). I recommend you call the management if you need anything. I had trouble confirming the bunkhouse. They responded to the first email saying it was available, but not the three sent afterwards asking to confirm it and get access instructions. I had to call from the property and luckily spoke with someone who was able to get us overall, average depending on your needs.

Very nice spot .....but

In many ways this property deserves a better rating than I am giving to it. My main reasons for only giving it a "3" are as follows: 1) Primarily, a next to last minute (a day or two ahead of check-in from the property manager noting all the things they do NOT provide or the things they limit. Really? Bring your own tp if our two rolls aren't enough, no coffee filters unless other guests leave them, et al. No personal hygiene products like soap or shampoo? I can't remember the last time some token supplies of these were not provided. None of these are a particular hassle and none of them break the bank for guests OR the property owner to provide. However, it sets a bad tone - in my opinion. No one expects a fully stocked kitchen but, byo coffee filters - really? In a similar vein, the pots and pans are more than a bit tired, IMO. It would only cost a few dollars to update them and give your guests who want to use the kitchen a better, easier experience. By the way, , however, thanks for the warning re: well water. It was appreciated. Second, the front yard is a pie shape in which a big chunck of the view of the lake from the house is blocked by a large shed that the neighbors have. Also, be aware (although this is not the property owner's fault), the neighbors have a bunch of NO TRESPASSING signs up. Ok, we get it "STAY OFF MY LAWN!" However the foregoing force you to use only a tiny sliver/corner of the yard - a good bit away from the house - to sit and relax with a decent, unobstructed view of the lake. All this being said, it IS on the lake, more or less RIGHT in town and, while it's not likely we will be in that neck of the woods again anytime soon (too bad for us because it is an AWESOME area) and more than lived up to our expectations., we'd rent here again

Cottage is on Lake Superior but a very small access to the lake. There is a fire pit which we ended up not using. The pictures when i booked the cottage showed a beautiful view of the lake but when it came time to check in this was not the case. There were 4 to 5 boats and other vehicles parked in front blocking the view. We also had to make sure not to park on a or over a yellow line or the neighbor will have you towed. There was plenty of room to park out truck and bass boat. Location was very noisy horns going off from people parking next door and vehicles going by constantly. Trucks drove by all hours of the night making it difficult to sleep at times. There were spiders and webs everywhere outside on the deck and even on the entrance door to get in and it was disturbing to walk through them. The cottage inside was clean but definitely a handymans special. There was enough room for all 5 of us to sleep inside so we didn't pay extra for the bunk house. The kitchen is way too small if you have more than a couple people. We felt jammed in the space and only 4 could sit at the table. Beds were comfortable and clean. It was nice to do laundry there on site and they supplied soap/dryer sheets. There were plenty of towels and wash cloths. Would recommend some shampoo and conditioner for guests. Overall the stay as mediocre. It served its purpose but I would not stay at this cottage again wasn't worth the cost.

Most tours and rentals were done for the season, but we had fun looking for rocks on the beach, hiking, and exploring the area. We didn’t spend much time at the house but it was cute, comfortable, and had everything we needed! The rental company was easy to get a hold of and helpful too. Would definitely stay again!
