I am so sorry for the misunderstanding. The resort, like many hotels, places a credit or debit card on file when you check in with a $200 hold for incidentals that you may choose during your stay. In the email I send out prior to a guests' stay, I explain that they are a cashless resort and that a guest must have a credit or debit card on file when they check-in. In that email, I also make sure guests have my phone # and let them know to please call or text me if they have any questions at check-in or during their stay. When I saw your review, I called the resort immediately to assure that there were no charges put on your credit card. As required, I make sure all charges and fees are included in the nightly rate advertised on VRBO. Unless a guest elects to rent a golf cart, or go horseback riding, etc.. there should not be any charges that were not paid through VRBO at the time of booking. I do apologize for the misunderstanding.
My husband and I planned this trip for our 36th anniversary. It had been a while since we’ve stayed at Shenandoah Crossings. We were not disappointed. Our cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed horseback riding with our trail guide Amanda. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The property is well kept and beautiful. We ate breakfast at the general store and dinner at the restaurant on the property. Both were not only delicious but very generous portions. We spent a day enjoying Gordonsville, with its antique stores and historical sites. Our stay was very relaxing, we just wish we had been able to stay longer. Maybe next time for sure, because we will definitely be back.
We were visiting for the week for a college graduation. And it was a perfect place as it was close, but far enough away from the craziness of the weekend celebrations. The weather was pretty rainy, but there were lots of options to keep us busy on site with an indoor pool, arcade area, and more. I will say, if you are planning to cook any meals in your cabin, make sure you have groceries ahead of time and spices as there isn't any of that in the cabins for you. But that is my ONLY thing that I'd say was lacking. The space was incredible, the resort beautiful and rustic, and we loved our time there. I would -and have- recommended this stay to anyone. And we will for sure be coming back again! Thank you so much!

Thank you! I look forward to working with you again!
This is the perfect place to unplug and get away (with really good WiFi just in case). This small resort had plenty of things to as a family, just the kids, or just the parents. Most of the things are included in the stay (mini-golf, tennis, fishing, swimming, games, life-sized chess, pool, hot tub, camp fire area by the cabin, barns full of animals, short walking trails, fishing…). Other add-ons are worth it - horseback riding, horse and carriage - and when they open for the season - kayaks and paddle boards). Great Communication with the owner - she helped us get activities booked before our trip. Recommend you stop at the grocery store in Gordonsville on the way in (there is a full kitchen and gas grill at the cabin) and the BBQ place there is amazing for a family dinner. There’s a great Tex-Mex place in Orange that is really good as well.
Overal - a great stay and we would definitely go back!

Thank you so much for the really nice review! It was a pleasure working with you. I look forward to hearing from you again.
Booking was easy and Deborah went above and beyond! The property is family friendly with tons to do and a VERY helpful staff.
The lodge offers tons of board games, cards, and movies that you can check out (great for a rainy day or for late night games). It also houses a resturant/bar, indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center and arcade.
The equestrian area is huge, filled with friendly and beautiful horses.
The activity center was a nice surprise. They hold mutiple family friendly activies throughout the day(for a small fee), have a cozy movie theather ( popcorn and soda provided), and outdoor games. The general store has the basics , but I would suggest stopping by grocery store beforehand.
There are mutiple small playgrounds throughout the property and one bigger area that also has basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts.
The lake is beautiful, with water activites also available.
Overall, I highly recommended booking with Deborah !

About the host
Hosted by Deborah
I became a deeded owner for a deluxe cabin at Shenandoah Crossing in1998. I live in Virginia and the property is a just a short trip from home, so we have used it frequently over the years. It's the place where you can relax and enjoy family; where my child learned to swim, play ping-pong, shoot pool, and master air hockey. We all took western riding lessons there so we could enjoy ring riding and the advanced trail rides. Now that my child is an adult, we don't use the property as frequently. I would now like to share the property that we have enjoyed so much with other travelers.
