We had an amazing stay in Clayton! Visiting the Thousands Islands is definitely a gorgeous and unique experience and we highly recommend.
Our house was incredibly clean, homey, spacious and so convenient to all that Clayton has to offer - about a 10 minute walk. We were traveling with 3 children (9-12 years). The house provided them space and a variety of indoor and outdoor things to keep them busy. The hosts were attentive and accommodating (even when we had silly Clayton area questions). Other reviews mentioned concerns with AC not being sufficient, but we stayed during a relatively hot week and didn’t have any issues with the house being uncomfortable or not cool. We were completely comfortable our whole stay. If we ever visit the area again, we would definitely stay here.
We ate at Shipwreck Eatery, Bella’s, Hops Spot, Wood Boat Brewery, and Channelside. All were delicious and had different food experiences. We also went to the farmers market Thursday in town. We took the Clayton Boat Tour to Boldt Castle (highly recommend). We rented a pontoon boat from Swan Bay Resort to enjoy the river and had a great experience. Again, highly recommend because the river is so vast and beautiful - you can get a better feel for just how awesome the Thousand Islands area is. We were also able to check out Alexandria Bay via the boat and docking at the municipal docks for a $5 fee. Clayton Distillery has delicious tastings and yummy bourbon cold brew drinks (Bloody Mary’s too).
