The house itself has a lovely, recently renovated look and was clean on the surface. However, we noticed a strong mildew/mold smell throughout our stay, and found visible mold growth on the bathroom ceiling (see photo). As someone with allergies, this made it genuinely difficult to breathe comfortably.When we brought this up with the owner, we were told it was due to the humidity typical of Atlanta this time of year, and that their approach has been to improve ventilation and repaint over the affected areas rather than address the underlying moisture issue. We appreciated the owner’s responsiveness in explaining this, but wanted future guests — especially anyone with allergies, asthma, or young children — to know what to expect, since this doesn’t seem to be a one-time issue but an ongoing one.At the price for 3 nights, we expected a space that was fully move-in ready without air quality concerns. We’d encourage the owner to invest in a permanent fix (proper exhaust ventilation, addressing the moisture source) rather than cosmetic touch-ups, both for guest health and for the long-term condition of the property.

Hi Mike, our house has a history of being a haven for people that have to immediately check out from other short term rentals for mold related smells. Our home uses no air fresheners, nor other artificial means to mask air quality. You only reported an issue the night before you were checking out, leaving us no opportunity to see what was going on. Nor did you mention any breathing issues to me. After your stay was completed, you reported the "conditions were unacceptable", and pursued VRBO for a partial refund. Nothing in your situation was consistent with past guests that have had to vacate other short term rentals. "Unacceptable conditions" would have been acted upon immediately, as many of our past guests had done before coming to stay with us. July is the rainiest month of the year in GA, and therefore has the highest environmental airborne mold spores. Unless the home is sealed and the combustible systems operate off filtered air, you will still smell what nature is producing. Clean HVAC filters with MERV ratings are the best way to control that, which we do. We are sorry that your stay was not to your satisfaction, but argue the legitimacy of your claim.

Family reunion success!

This house and surrounding area are fantastic! We used it as a home base for a small family reunion. The rooms are beautiful, the backyard is great for a picnic dinner and we loved walking around the neighborhood. The location is convenient, too. Everything about our stay was fantastic!

Very nice home for our family group.

Clean and comfortable house! We had a group of 11 and there was plenty of room to hang out and chat, and for everyone to cook for their various dietary needs! Beds were fresh and comfortable, excellent to have three full baths, patio area was cute.

We stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday to be near other family who lives near Emory. It’s such a quiet area convenient to Emory and downtown Atlanta. Kelly has thought of all the details and was very responsive. We would definitely stay here again and consider it a top VRBO rental!

Fantastic House.

Our family was in town for a wedding and this house was perfect. Big enough for all of us to stay together. Open concept of the main room was great for everyone to talk and eat together. House was spotless. Beds comfortable. Communication with Kelly was perfect. Yard was big so you felt like you had your own space. We would definitely stay there again.

Atlanta Stay

My father passed in December and we had a Celebration of Life at my cousins house in Brookhaven. The house was just a few minutes from the highway but we never had to use it. The house was just a few minutes from supermarkets, liquor and wine stores and fast food. The house had everything we needed to serve meals. The kids just loved the bunk bed room and the large yard.
