We rented the unit from Sunday-Saturday. 2 weeks prior, I advised the management that we would not be there until Monday.
We drive 7 hours from Ohio to exhibit livestock at the IL State Fairgrounds. By 10:30 pm we are tired, hot, and ready for a shower and bed.
After we hike up the stairs with all our luggage, coolers, we open the door to our unit to find unmade beds, linens on the floor, piles of dirty towels in the bathroom. Something I have never experienced using VRBO over the years. Remember that my reservation was from Sunday-Saturday, this is Monday!
There is an afterhours contact, whom I text (that was the directions). No response. I text the next # from info on my email confirmation, no response. I message through the app, no response.
My husband is livid and calls each number and leaves a message. No response.
We then lug everything down the steps, pack up the truck and thankfully find a hotel room for the night. It is now 11:30pm and we have not received a text or phone call.
Tuesday morning I received a message through the app that says Sorry for the delayed response, can you please let me know what happened? My request was the I receive a phone call.
I advised that the unit was unusable, I received no response from the afterhours contact and I had to move to a hotel.
The response: I am extremely sorry that cleaning was missed (remember, I was supposed to check in Sunday, this is Tuesday). Asked if I wanted to come back after the unit is cleaned or have a refund. I asked for a refund. Was advised that the refund was processed.
Wednesday still no refund - reply Sorry about that, let me check.
Wednesday afternoon, received a refund.
We spent 3 nights at one hotel and when they didn't have rooms for us we had to pack up and move (3rd time) to a different hotel.
I will never rent from a 'management company'. This is was a horrible experience and hoped for additional compensation for the terribly inconvenient situation.
