Property was spacious and as advertised. Pool was a swamp and uncovered. We were not planning on swimming but this was a potential hazard for our young children. Kids got hot tub folliculitis because hot tub was not very clean. House was pretty rough around the edges (ie carpet stains everywhere, fake wood floor panels with gaps and soft spots, exposed light bulbs with no covers, pool table in disrepair etc...). The third full day of our stay a lawn service was present for most of the sun lit hours with a dog of their own. We kept our dogs inside this day and didn't use the front yard space. This maintenance is necessary and understandable but it would have been nice to know it was going to happen beforehand. We had a nice time with our family as a whole but there were some things that couldn't improved out stay.

Pretty decent, except...
I had friends coming from all around, it was a bit of a reunion and we were super excited when we found a place with a pool and hot tub. I actually chose the place for that sole reason.
When we got there it all looked pretty good, except the pool was fairly dirty, and the hot tub was cold.
I reached out to the owner and manager and they told me how to turn on the heat and said it should be hot enough to go in later on. By the nxt morning it was still only about 92 so the entire reason I chose this place I didn't even get.
I know stuff happens and I didn't blame management for a mistake, but I did ask for a discount, they offered me $100 off, which was only a small percentage of my stay... which seems pretty low to me but I took what I could get. The thing is, here I am 6 weeks later, still no money back, and I've stopped hearing from the manager.
It is a nice place, I don't want to say it's not, but my experience has been fairly frustrating.
Our family had a wonderful time here. Swimming in the pool, BBQing, playing yard games, video games, cards and playing pool. Everyone kept busy or enjoyed relaxing too! Lots of room in the kitchen for cooking. Beds were very comfortable. Our ages are 3 yr old to 70 yr old. Lots of fun for ALL ages!
This house is amazing! The location is ideal for lake and nature lovers. We have been to the Shasta area numerous times and will be coming back to this property for sure. The yard is so spacious and completely fenced in for your 4 legged family members. The house too is super spacious and very well thought out, with extremely large rooms and bathrooms that are very well stocked. The beds are so incredibly comfortable, the best I've ever experienced in any rental or hotel while on vacation. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook in. This trip was just my husband and I, but we'll be going back with the whole family as there is plenty of room. for the kiddos to play out front or take a dip in the pool. I highly recommend this property. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We spent 5 wonderful days at the Lakehead house and enjoyed every minute of it! The house was clean, the beds were absolutely amazingly comfortable and the property is both secluded and yet still less than 10 min to a small grocery and restaurants and 20 min from the Oasis Family Fun Center (highly recommend if you have kids and love retro places). Our kids spent a vast majority of our time there in the pool and hot tub while we relaxed in the lounge chairs. At night the yard lighting makes full use of the yard possible for games. The house uses a swamp cooler which I have used before, usually with very little satisfaction, this setup is NOT disappointing - it was over 100 every day we were there and not once did the house exceed 72 degrees - the kids watched movies at 4PM with BLANKETS on ... and sleeping was wonderful as the house stays so cool (you can turn it off). We would definitely rent this place again and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, or with the kids :-)
didn't like the cameras on outside 24/7....felt it invaded our privacy. The cabin wasn't ready / still cleaning it at 3.
Property mgrs were very nice however.
We had so much fun at this property.. the house was super clean the manager of the house was super helpful and sweet. The owner of the property was kind and got back to us right away. We definitely want to go back to this property

Could Be Amazing!
Let me start by saying we know this house is a vacation rental & we know they get well used. Also we know nothing is ever perfect or goes as planned. I am not trying to be a "Karen", I just want to leave a honest review. That being said we had planned this vacation months in advance. We were so looking forward to celebrating with family & friends for my son's high school graduation & mine & my husband's 20th anniversary. The house "looks" amazing, but looks can be deceiving.......The yard hadn't been mowed for a bit & had large piles of dog poop in it(my son cleaned up). The sidewalks were covered with sticks, leaves & rocks (my husband sweeped up). Inside the house had white dog hair all over it & the carpet in the master bedroom had pet stains. The house has a swamp cooler not A/C, (we learned the hard way & it's a long story). A lot of the fixtures are loose, doors stick, door knobs are loose, locks don't work, finish moldings are missing & tons of paint overspray on everything. The appliances are nice and new but the racks in the oven seemed like they didn't fit & the light wouldn't turn off. The beds & bedding are very comfortable. My husband showered in the upstairs bathroom & the shower floor had a crack in it which he discovered while showering. The shower water leaked into the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom causing a large bubble in the ceiling that turned into a large hole, major water damage & of course the use of only 1 shower for 10 people. We attempted to use the jacuzzi tub upstairs but it is very hard to get in and out of. The wifi didn't work & we were supplied with a mobile hot spot (no charging cable) that worked 1/2 of the time. The pool & hottub area is nice but it is almost like the landscaping didn't get finished around the pool and you track red dirt everywhere. We had better luck communicating with the property manager than the owner. When we contacted the owner through VRBO chat with small to major things, his solution was to have us vacate the property. Although we only live a hour away and seriously considered canceling everything we had family coming from 9 hours away to stay and at this point it wasn't like we could just pack up & find somewhere else to accommodate 10 people with such short notice. So vacating wasn't an option for us. We chose to stay & make the best of it. But because we chose to stay we have to pay full price and do not get any discounts or refunds for the inconveniences we were caused.
The house is pretty isolated but that’s kind of what our family was looking for. We had fun telling ghost stories but once inside it was harder to be scared despite the isolation because of how clean the house was lol. We also had an issue with the lights and texted their local contact, they promised to send someone and I thought it would be the next day since it was so late at night but no, within 30 mins we had a friendly guy fixing the problem. Even gave us info on local fishing spots. Overall our family loved the place. Also the beds were AMAZING.
The home is spacious, bright, comfortable, and clean. The yard is amazing—it will be a great place to enjoy during the summer. But we were among the first renters and the home was rented before it was ready. We couldn’t use the spa or pool because they hadn’t been maintained, there were no oven racks so we couldn’t use the oven, there was no hot water in the kitchen or laundry room, and the thermostat was off so the house got cold until we turned it on. Lamps on the bedside tables would be appreciated as well as step-out rugs in the bathrooms. There are some fixes to be done (missing sections of baseboards, no toilet paper holder in master bathroom, etc.). If the startup issues are resolved, this can be a 5 star place to stay.
