The owner really thought of everything and had great communication. The house is large and easily accommodates ten. New, modern kitchen and bathrooms. Our boys appreciated the mackerel fishing across the road. The adults loved the sunsets. The places close proximity to Montague was great for running into town. We really enjoyed our stay. Overall highly recommended.

The purple house is perfect for an island get away. Stocked with everything you need to have a comfortable stay. We spent a lot of our time in the house in the front sun room. Having coffee, playing card games and watching bald eagles from the window. Tammy is a wonderful host, quick responses. The decor in this house is absolutely beautiful!!

Lovely Week at the Purple House

Truly beautiful historic home fully equipped for our stay. We enjoyed sunsets at the dock, bought fresh lobsters directly from the boats, and a bonfire under the stars. Tammy was a great host and extremely responsive. Loved this place.

Fabulous vacation

This fabulous historic house was perfect for our family vacation. 8 adults were comfortably accommodated. The massive kitchen was well appointed and was suitable for any cook. The house has a number of rooms where everyone can gather and smaller rooms for personal space. The location is ideal for any activity. We really enjoyed our stay.

Serge, thank you so much for this review. It's greatly appreciated and we are so happy that the house served your needs and was a nice place to call home on your vacation. I also wanted to let you know that we appreciated you letting us know that an in kitchen receptical for recycling was needed as well as a knife sharpener. Both have been added to the home for future guests. We love all feedback as this helps us to learn and improve. You left the house incredibly well cared for and we are grateful to have had you as guests.

The Purple House is a wonderful place to stay. Having the wharf right there was great. Watching the fishing boats coming in, the beautiful sunsets and the ability to see the tide come in was a great experience. The house is full of history. Very well equipped and if anything came up Tammy was very quick to respond. I highly recommend this house to stay at.

We absolutely loved our time in the Purple House. Tammy was a wonderful host who was very accessible and went above and beyond. She even made sure we had baby items which made our stay so easy. The location is lovely and allows for lots of rural walks and close to Panmure Island. Much less busy than the touristy spots on the island but gives you great access. The house had absolutely everything we needed and then some. The kitchen was very well stocked and the rooms were all very comfortable. We would love to go back!

Stunning property, diligent owner

This is a beautiful old home where we enjoyed evenings looking over the water. From the moment we stepped inside the house, we were all delighted - exploring the different rooms and flow. The property was well appointed and the owner was very proactive in communicating any changes (they were still doing renovations on one of the bathrooms). The kids still have fond memories of “Maple Murple’s purple house”. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent stay for our family

The purple house is wonderful! A great place that we called home for a week. Tammy was amazing and such a pleasure to communicate with. She made sure to check in on us and even had family provide us with extra fans during the heat wave we were experiencing. The new updates of this property are phenomenal. The kitchen was my favourite! Loads of room for a big family of all ages. We would recommend The Purple House to anyone wishing to have a memorable stay in Montague.

Purple House by the water

Overall experience was great. Communications between us and the owner when needed were promptly returned and appreciated. As for the property our stay was fully enjoyed by all. There was plenty of room for all to relax as well as enjoy our meals together. The historic house was a treasure and the modern conveniences were a bonus. As new property managers they are heading in the right direction and once they have finished all the touchups this place will be a gem to explore and stay at.

Amazing East Coast Vacation

First, Tammy was wonderful to communicate with. When I booked the stay, the dates got mixed up and I immediately requested a change of booking. Tammy got back to me promptly and was able to accommodate the dates we'd be on the island. The home is so well equipped and modern yet still holds the feel of being a heritage home. The new kitchen is splendid. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and the beds and bedding was perfect. The family loved the location and the space - we were also able to host relatives and nearby friends all in the same space! We absolutely loved our stay and the purple house. We will definitely be back!

Two Families of 5 - with dogs - exploring the Island

This house was perfect for our two families with 6 kids and our dogs, because there was lots of space and many comfortable bedrooms. Further to that it was extremely well equipped for cooking and BBQing. The large recently renovated kitchen was a pleasure to be in. The front porch was a great spot for having our morning coffee. We enjoyed having the fire pit and there was even firewood supplied. The host seems to have thought of everything - towels for the beach, games, even band-aid and kids medication. Washrooms were well stocked with everything we needed. Upon arrival we were greeted with a gift basket including island treat. It was a thoughtful gesture. We enjoyed being across the street from the ward and close to the water.

Massive!

We selected this location because of its proximity to the ferry. This huge historic home was bigger than we needed but gave us plenty of room. There was a great cross breeze in the bedrooms so it was very comfortable for sleeping. Plus there were fans available for use. All the beds are new. The upstairs bathroom was under renovation and couldn’t be used, but the small ensuite in the main bedroom allowed people easy relief in the night. The kitchen has been renovated and has plenty of amenities. The host asked for comments for improvement and we mentioned a few things (chefs knife, cutting board…) which she immediately went and ordered. The yard was a nice place to sit out in the shade and read a book also. Also supplied were camp chairs and towels if you wanted to go to a beach. The sunroom that overlooks the river was a great room to sit in to have a coffee or play a board game. It would be even better if the windows could open too. Once the renovations are complete, this place will be amazing.

Hello and thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review and for your feedback. Since your stay we have completed the plumbing for the upstairs washroom! Yaaa. In addition we have replaced the stained glass window in the front porch with an open screen so that there is a breeze when you open the door. In addition we were able to get the windows between the kitchen to open. Your feedback was so valuable!

The house was very comfortable, clean and large. The picture of the little front room with the dining table didn’t capture the beautiful water view. It is a lovely place for breakfast or dinner. The small workout room was an added bonus.

Great place for the family

The Purple House was a great place to stay with a large group. The beds were comfortable and there was lots of room for everyone. We even had family over and it still wasn't crowded. The updates recently completed on the house were great bringing it up to today's standards. We would definitely stay again in the future. Reasonably priced as well.
