Secluded, cozy and affordable! Beautiful setting in the woods
This contemporary design, cozy cabin sits high up in the woods on 10 acres of Pikes Falls Road between Stratton and Jamaica. PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT do seasonal nor monthly or similar long term WINTER rentals. Additionally, we require a full week minimum rental over the December holiday season. It's a great location - just 3 miles from the cute little town of Jamaica and just 4 miles from Stratton's Sunbowl access road. Close to skiing, hiking, Jamaica State Park, shopping (e.g - a great country store in Jamaica, lots of outlets in nearby Manchester), great restaurants, or just sit by the wood stove and enjoy the peaceful, secluded setting with a great view! The winter bonus is the great sledding (sleds provided, but at your own risk!) and hiking or snowshoeing right outside your door! (Note: property is high up a beautiful country road, AWD or 4WD is essential in the winter.) It's a peaceful, beautiful setting to sit by the wood stove (the most efficient source of heat) and watch the snow fall, or be at the slopes in a few minutes. In the summer enjoy hiking, golfing, fishing, canoeing and more nearby, including in Jamaica State Park which is just 3 miles away. A beautiful, natural swimming hole and waterfall at Pikes Falls is just a couple of miles away. Close to Stratton golf, yoga and other summer activities.
The small house has three bedrooms - 2 with adjacent baths, and an additional bedroom with a twin over full bunk bed. The bunk room is small and great for a couple of kids, but too small for adults. You may bring your own sheets and towels, or use ours.
This house has character and most renters want to come back - try our affordable rates and see for yourself!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin on top of the mountain. It was clean. Maggie is so friendly and helpful and available at any time that you text her. We would definitely go back again.
The kitchen had everything that we needed and was very clean and organized. The house was clean and comfortable but just a tad b more rustic than we thought. But we had a wonderful trip and enjoyed our stay. Thanks for having us.Mary Jo, Pat, Betty and Joanie
First time booking through VRBO and cannot say enough about this property! Beautiful, classic Chalet with large entertainment space and spacious bedrooms. Very quiet and secluded. Spent lots of time by the fire and on the deck just listening to the leaves. Lots nearby to do and see. Cannot wait to stay again!
The layout and location of the property is what you would want when visiting Vermont. There were a few repairs that needed to be done, but this did not affect our stay. If you want privacy in the Vermont mountains, this is the place!
My family and friend stayed at this VRBO and enjoyed our time there. Maggie was attentive and responsive everytime we reached out to her. If staying here in the winter months make sure to have a AWD vehicle as there is a slightly steep driveway you will have to climb up. Given were coming from Florida she was helpful with pointers on dealing with the snowy conditions. We enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend this spot! 15 minute drive from Stratton MTN.
Speedy communication with owners, very easy to book. Jamaica State Park just down the road for biking, hiking and swimming. Pikes Falls is very close and kids enjoyed jumping off the rocks. House has everything you would need in a cozy space. Double bunk beds great for 3-4 kids. Plenty of space for 2 couples and our 3 children.
This property is as advertised. The owners made everything easy and welcoming. There are multiple roads (and the driveway) which are unpaved and any visitor would benefit from good ground clearance and 4wd/awd especially in wet conditions. Definitely worth the drive!
Our family had a fabulous time at this lovely well kept and well equipped secluded home. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of extra blankets and towels. The living room and kitchen combo was perfect for evening dinners and cooking together. There were breathtaking views from the living room deck and chickadees and woodpeckers visited the feeders outside. The woodburning stove provided plenty of heat and ambiance to the nights. It is close to Stratton, which we visited every day. You do need 4 wheel/all wheel drive to access the house. The host, Maggie, was exceptionally responsive and helpful prior to and during our stay. We hope to visit again soon!
Maggie was a wonderful host. We didn’t have any issues with the rental, but prior to arriving, she answered all our questions. We can’t wait to go back. We spent a much needed vacation in this secluded lovely home. It was very clean and the beds were comfy. Our adult children said, “How do you find these places that are so relaxing surrounded by nature?” At night, we left the windows open to hear the owls and breathe in the mountain air. If you love nature, you will love this place. We ate most breakfasts and dinners on the deck.
We had a lovely stay in this country retreat that was still convenient to grocery and activities. The amenities were excellent. A wonderful time was had by all, including our dog.
We had a wonderful time at this cozy cabin. The location is ideal to get to Stratton for a day on the slopes. Then, relax by the fire and connect with the family. The cabin is set up so nicely that when the kids want to get some alone time, they have their own rooms to go to. And when we want to gather, there's an open central room/kitchen to chat, play games, and eat. Loved it!
Loved our stay in this cabin and thoroughly enjoyed outdoor fire pit/deck and indoor wood stove. Located in a very secluded area. Excellent to reconnect with nature and fully recharge batteries ;). Owner Maggie responds to messages very quickly.
We loved this house. Location was great, secluded but close to Stratton. We loved the wood stove and bird-watching. The boys loved the long driveway for sledding. Can’t wait to go back!!
Maggie was great. Very helpful with check in and check out. Her home is welcoming and very well equipped. Bonus: WiFi was strong! Beds were comfortable. Loved being in the middle of nature yet 10min drive to sunbowl/Stratton.
We were 2 adults with our two adult children visiting part of the time. Plenty of room. The house was warm and cozy and 10 minutes to Sunbowl. We even went snowshoeing. You do need 4wheel or awd if there is any weather about but it is beautiful. The owners were wonderful to deal with.
We spent an amazing 2 months at Maggies house in VT. The home is very clean and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need for baking/cooking. It is a cozy home and very spacious, located up a remote hill. While the area is very quiet, the house is a short drive to Stratton and 30 minute drive to Manchester. It was a much needed escape and Maggie is a wonderful host, very reliable and easily reachable!
The cabin was in a very secluded area, we were surrounded by nothing but wilderness. The cabin itself was absolutely perfect, we use the outdoor fire pit every night, there was a wood-burning stove inside, however it was too warm to turn it on. The cabin was very clean upon our arrival. The fact that the cabin was in a secluded area, did not take away from the fact that all the essentials of home were in that cabin, microwave coffeemaker Wi-Fi cable TV etc. my overall rating for the cabin would be a 10 out of 10
The home was exceptional. It is a beautiful cabin in a secluded spot in the woods which provides us with a restful and serene experience. My family and I would definitely come back to this house.
A peaceful retreat in the woods geared toward bringing together friends & family by the wood stove in an open, bright great room. Lots of windows & a huge skylight to enjoy the wildlife, woods & snow. A short drive to Stratton or the general store in Jamaica, but you may want to stay put by the fire & read.

We have owned this home for close to 40 years(!) and have had great times there - it’s a secluded, quiet country retreat.
Why they chose this property
Jamaica is a GREAT location! Near Stratton, but avoiding the on-the-mountain crowds and cookie-cutter approach; easy drive to great restaurants and shopping; beautiful private spot in the woods. Calm, peaceful, secluded but accessible location.
