This single level, ranch style, rustic vibe has everything you desire, including a dedicated work space for the digital nomad in you, a fully stocked kitchen, multiple entertainment areas, game room and much more! As a guest, you will have full access to the premiere destination, Rumbling Bald Resort which boasts numerous amenities such as lake activities, wellness center, racket sports, basketball courts, and access to one of Western North Carolina’s only multi-course golf destinations.

At Whitney’s Retreat, we want you to create lasting memories that will have you booking your next trip before you leave!

Pet Policy: This home is dog-friendly only. The pet fee is $150 for a maximum of (2) dogs under 50 pounds, non-aggressive breeds. Dogs must be fully house-trained.

If you leave your dogs at the property while you explore, it is mandatory for them to be crated. There are two crates provided for your use.

Dogs are not allowed on the furniture. Guests are responsible if their dog causes any damage.
Please keep your dogs on a leash and always pick up after your dogs

Our group of three couples (and two kids) found it perfect for our needs. We appreciated easy access to resort amenities and enjoyed the numerous thoughtful touches at the house (game room, well stocked kitchen, grill, hot tub, etc). Would consider for a future trip in the warmer months for sure!

House was perfect and has plenty of room to sleep. Loved all the amenities and games inside the house. The resort is an extra bonus and is amazing. We had one issue and the owners quickly helped us solve this problem. I would definitely go again!

Incredible location and home

Our stay couldn’t have gone smoother or have been any better! We wanted some time away with our boys and between the pop a shot, darts, pack man, and the resort it couldn’t have been a better location. The property itself is very clean and well maintained. We will come back here in the future!

Great stay!

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The property was clean and full of amenities. The property staff provided everything needed, and responded quickly over the weekend when the AC was acting up. We didn’t get a change to visit Rumbling Bald with the provided passes, but it looks like a great property with lots to do! We would absolutely stay here again, it’s a must-book if you’re visiting Lake Lure.

Easygoing Getaway

Our family had a great time staying at the cabin! Our kids really enjoyed the converted garage space and the hot tub. The adults spent a good deal of time on the screened patio and we were only a few minutes away from Rumbling Bald. The community event we went to at Rumbling Bald on Labor Day Weekend was on par with 4th of July events. We had an awesome time and we are so happy that we chose to stay at Whitney's Retreat!

Great cabin near resort amenities

Our family really enjoyed our stay. Sitting on the screen porch felt like being in a tree house. The game room was a big hit with teen and adults alike (arcade PacMan, arcade basketball, darts.). Nicely equipped kitchen. The Rumbling Bald amenities are great— fun pool with lazy river, lakeside beach and good restaurants/ice cream shop. The host response on any issues or questions was prompt and helpfully. Our family highly recommends.

Exceeded expectations

Rented this home with my mother, sister and 5 of our adult daughters for a Thanksgiving girls trip. We were pleasantly surprised to find the house had been decorated for Christmas! Such a lovely touch, really put us in a festive mood! The pictures online don’t do it justice, it really is a well laid out house with plenty of room for everyone. There were a lot of things to do so that we never really felt that we had to leave the house. We did go visit the Biltmore which was decorated for Christmas and was amazing. I highly recommend renting this home..it was great!

FANTASTIC Getaway!!!!

Three day holiday weekend could not have been more perfect with grandkids ranging from 2-18. The home was Fabulous and outdoors at night with two fire pits for the teenagers was Amazing!!! I just can't say enough about this home. The only thing I would recommend is a crockpot to feed the vultures coming back from the pools, lake, fishing, hiking, and the beach. Everything else was spot on!!! Not to mention the owner!!!! Thanks for the Memories Billy Dean!!!! God Bless You and Your Family!!!!!

Comfy with PLENTY to do

We loved the house and the access to the resort is a huge PLUS. The beds were comfy, plenty of soft towels, the decor was cool with many cute nooks, and the game room was really fun!! We did not get to try the hot tub. ..a reason to come back! The less than 5 star was due to the hassle of no internet 2 mornings in a row. No internet = no way to pull up VRBO for contact info. Luckily I had screen shot the mgmt's contact info before I left home. Management was very responsive and after some patient troubleshooting, we got it back on both occasions.

Thanksgiving getaway with family due to Home Improvements at my home

I really loved and so did my family the cleanliness and the ambience of this property. We were escaping from home improvements done at our home causing us not to be able to cook and have guests. We loved the amenities and the ample room for all to enjoy. The outdoor areas were mostly clean, except the grill and the hot tub was awesome. Our problem was upon arriving the garage area turned into gameroom, tv room and extra fridge and washer dryer had no electricity. Also the hot tub wasnt working and the kitchen range, icemaker and dishwasher werent working. The outdoor gas fire on deck wasnt working nor the gas logs.We contacted the propety manager and she replied quickly. While we were waiting for them, to see if they could get someone out there and some instructions on how to turn things on, we figured it out on our own. There was a general idea of what to do but no written instructions on what to do. My son fiddled with a plug in coming from outside which has been tripped we assume and reset it which got the garage area working: tv,fridge,games,washer/dryer. The hot tub wasnt as easy

Perfect quiet get away with tons of activities

My teenaged son, 5 year old daughter and I had a lovely stay! It’s a short dive to Chimney Rock, Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock, Asheville, and of course the resort and Lake Lure and Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. All while being tucked away in the woods with a couple deer who made daily appearances during my morning coffee. Our family enjoyed every evening at this property with a well stocked kitchen and plenty of space for us all to spread out and relax how we ever wanted. Our host were in communication right from the beginning and were just amazing. This was our favorite stay and will definitely be back again!

Great Stay

Very convenient to Rambling Bald resort with resort passes provided at the property. Lots of kids to do while at the house. Only thing missing was grill utensils but that's not a big deal. 1.5 miles to Rambling Bald which has pool, gym, golf, lake, beach, tennis, etc...

Summer vacation with something for everyone

Our family of 5 loved everything this rental had to offer. There was enough room to spread out yet still be together. The teenager loved the XBox. The 10 yr old loved the hook game. My husband was a big fan of the arcade game. Mom loved the amenities that included pickleball. And auntie appreciated the desk/work space with the extra monitor for one day of remote work! The kitchen was perfectly stocked with all the essentials including foil and plastic wrap! The house was very clean and had plenty of towels and extra blankets. Having a code for the key pad was great and made it easy to come and go without remember a physical key. Having privileges at Rumbling Bald was nice. We rented a pontoon one evening. Two of us also played mini golf; you pay once but can play throughout the same day with receipt. We saw wild turkeys and deer on the property. Just beware of spiders in the outside areas (if that's not something your a fan of!) There are lots of webs so maybe just a dusting of the hammock areas would be helpful but that's really the only negative we can think of! We would definitely consider staying at Whitney Retreat again!
