Had an amazing time at the cabin. The last night it snowed so the kids had a blast playing in the snow. Very spacious and cozy with all the essentials to have great family time and create memories.

Thats great to hear. Please come back and see us again!
The house was beautiful and clean. We loved using the jacuzzi during the cool summer nights. Hawksnest ski slopes were closed because it was summer, but we could see the slopes from the house. We would definitely stay here again.
One of the beds a little smaller than expected (was a double), and we encountered some dirty dishes. But overall, it was a super location, super views, and super relaxing.
Nothing like being in a hot tub and having your hair freeze! So nice!

Unpleasant Surprise
We arrived to hear this unusual sound coming from under the property. Also, to find mold stops in various places throughout the property. So, we ended up only staying 1 night and was relocated to a different property. We actually had to down grade in the place we stayed at. If it was not for these issues, I believe we would have enjoyed our week stay.
We've stayed in dozens of rentals over the years, and this is the first negative review we've given. The road up to the property was dangerous and not adequately described at all ("inclines and curves" is not sufficient). The road was very steep with numerous switchbacks and only wide enough for one vehicle in some places. It is not safe if there is bad weather even with an AWD vehicle. We have 30 years of experience driving at ski resorts all over the country and this is the worst road for winter we have seen. When there was a forecast for snow we had to leave after one night, cutting our 3-night stay short. It would have been nice if they would have worked with us to reduce the price even a little based on the circumstances. We'd highly recommend any renters to not visit during the winter unless they drive a monster truck with full out snow chains and maybe a winch, if needed. The property description should greatly be updated to not put unsuspecting renters into a bind of having to cancel a trip and losing a lot of money. We understand weather happens and given our AWD vehicle and winter driving experience, felt like we'd be fine, but that was not the case due to the false property description. We would not recommend this property during winter months or honestly, in general, due to the negative experience and response we received in dealing with the property manager.

Melea, we do regret that your experience was not up to your expectations. To summarize and put into perspective your complaint I have included a part of one of the many emails you received regarding your upcoming visit during which a forecasted storm was approaching at the time of your arrival:
13) WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS: Weather conditions in the mountains of North Carolina are unpredictable. Please remember that rain, fog, snow, sleet, and ice are possible. Road conditions may become hazardous before or during your stay. For this reason, a 4-wheel drive vehicle, tire chains and the ability to drive on snow and ice are the only things we can recommend to get to or from the property. A 2-wheel drive vehicle with chains, or a 4-wheel drive vehicle without chains, will not operate as well as 4-wheel drive with chains; especially on steep inclines that are likely.
END EMAIL.
Melea I do not know how we can be more clear and cautionary. Your primary issue was that you "felt" that you would be safe and traverse the roads easily instead of adhering to those who live here and plainly warned you of the conditions as well as the needs regarding the type of vehicle and adding chains to the mix. We do not employ the use of monster trucks , just common sense and 4WD and chains when needed. Our staff made it to the home on more than one occasion prior to your arrival as well as just after your early departure with no issues. In so far as as our response, I do regret that that you feel this way about us as a management company but requesting a full refund of nights not used would have unfairly penalized the owner for what was ultimately a lack of preparedness on your part.
The property is absolutely clean and stylish. It is exactly the same as shown in the pictures. I definitely recommend, as I feel so lucky to have found this little mountain treasure in the beautiful town of Seven Devils, NC.
