The first reason I chose this property because of it's rich history and significance of it's original family to the city of Butte and the mining industry. The property was built in 1883 by William and Annie Thompson. William was a carpenter by trade and started a large lumber yard in Butte, and built many of the small miners cottages you see in the uptown Butte area. William was also the 12th mayor of Butte and a member of the State Legislature. Their oldest son, William Boyce Thompson, started a large mining company called Newmont Mining, which continues today. William and two other sons also started an investment company, Thompson Financial Company.
The second reason I chose this property was it's close location to the uptown Butte area and all of it's attractions.
The property is named the Annie Grace House in honor of the first lady who lived there and in honor of my mother, Grace.
