Our stay was very comfortable. The house was very cozy, and the property manager was helpful and easygoing. Very easy to communicate with during our stay.
Kathy communicated that unit had a large group right before our visit. She worked very hard to get unit ready for us and worked with us on a slightly later check in time. Everything worked and as advertised.
Kathy was wonderful to work with. She reached out to us after I requested a potential extension of our stay. She had someone ready to book but checked with us first to ensure we didn’t need the extension. Fantastic experience and I would highly recommend
This house was perfect for us. We had easy access to the interstate and were within minutes of destinations in town. There was plenty of area for everyone to spread out and a great kitchen and for us to come together.
Cute and charming older home in a nice area. The front street can be a bit busy, but it was not an issue especially since the location to shopping and historical sites was great. We felt safe and at home. Kathy was very kind and went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay!
My family had a great weekend getaway in the lovely town of Vicksburg. This property was perfect for us and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed eating our meals and playing cards at the table in the screened porch area. Communication with the owner was fast and easy. I highly recommend this house for anyone coming to Vicksburg.
This place was the perfect location for a stopping point as we travelled from North Texas to Miami. House was exactly as described and check in process was easy. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful time exploring Vicksburg and this house was a relaxing and comfortable place to stay. We especially loved the screen porch where we played cards and enjoyed the birds! We’ll be back!
Porters Chapel House was absolutely amazing. Kathy is an amazing host. This is a quiet neighborhood in a beautiful location. We can't wait for our next trip to Mississippi!
This home is so roomy! It was just my husband and I, but we could have had the kiddos and still had plenty of space. The home was clean and tastefully decorated. It had a full size coffee pot (huge bonus for us), great wi-fi, covered parking, and great outdoor space.
Kathy is so kind and thoughtful! We would stay here again.
My overall stay was good. The beds were not comfortable. The cot beds may be good for kids but not for adults. The bed in the master was not that comfortable. My suggestion is to invest in some mattress pads or new mattress. Kathy was great. The kitchen could use some pots and pans. I would consider staying there again.
This property is excellent in every way! The neighborhood was quiet, the yard was a big plus for our small dog. The ability to go outside with her was such a huge plus for us. The home is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The owner was extremely accommodating making our visit memorable. Should we have a need in the area in the future, I will most assuredly stay again.
Overall the stay was good. The property is as advertised and communication with the property manager was easy. The screened porch was excellent and we very much enjoyed it. My primary feedback is that for a property that sleeps 7 there were very limited plates and glasses. It is a good thing we don't mind drinking wine out of coffee mugs.
We came to Vicksburg to visit our daughter and grandchildren. Kathy's home was a perfect place to come together with plenty of room for all. The home was neat, clean, and well-decorated. We enjoyed dinner in the screened-in porch and the home had plenty of space for the six of us. It was in a great area, outside of the bustle of town, while still close to everything. Kathy was the most communicative host and went the extra mile for us when the internet went out due to a storm. We would love to stay there again, next time we visit Vicksburg.
Our family recently stayed at this beautiful older home in Vicksburg during a short trip to tour the city's historic sites. We really enjoyed this home as the layout was unique but worked perfect for our family, and it was just so peaceful and relaxing. Each day we spent a portion of the day away touring the local sites and then returned in late afternoon where we relaxed in the living room, spending a quiet evening reading. The home is situated in a lovely wooded neighborhood that was just amazingly beautiful to drive through and added to the peaceful tranquility. The only issue we experienced was that both of the bathtubs had a small amount of standing water when we arrived, which was odd, and one of the tubs unfortunately had a rather large dead insect in the tub as well. My husband removed the insect and reassured that it was an isolated incident, and all else was completely fine during our stay. Regardless, we would definitely seek out this property for any return visits as we completely enjoyed our stay.
Kathy was, hands down, the best host I have ever had. Not only did she go out of her way to bring a crockpot simply because I forgot mine, but she also came back with bubbles for my 3 year old to help keep him entertained. She was wonderful with communication and so sweet and friendly! The house itself is in a great location, feels very safe, has excellent water pressure and completely felt like home during our week long stay. We would 10/10 recommend and absolutely would book again!
Overall our experience staying at this home was not good at all. The check in process was easy. The owner called and told me the washer was not working before arrival, not a big deal, and she gave us a gift card for the inconvenience. Once we arrived we quickly realized how bad of shape the home was in. Upon walking in we noticed a very strong scent of air fresheners they had placed throughout the house: car vent clip-ons on the vents, a solid one beside the hvac, and dryer sheet on the air filter. It was overwhelmingly strong. As we walked throughout the house we noticed how poorly maintained and dirty it was. The baseboards were black in the corners. The vents were dirty and had black stuff accumulating on them (black mold?), particularly the one blowing directly on the bed my kids slept on. The dishwasher looked like it was being worked on due to half of the front part missing and wires being exposed. The master shower did not drain properly, so I found myself standing in shin deep water while showering and the hot water heater only lasted long enough for one person to shower. It looked like someone blew their nose on the back of the guest bathroom door, there was grime all around the faucets and drains. The window sills were black and looked like the wood was rotting. The rugs in the master had stains on them and smelled musty. Several walls had chunks of drywall missing and paint was peeling. Both tubs had caulk missing and the caulk that was there had mildew growing on it. If you want to sleep on a comfortable mattress don't count on it as they both seemed 20+ years old with how much we sank into it when we laid down. I tried to discuss many of the aforementioned issues with the homeowner but she literally refused to hear it claiming her house is in pristine condition and there is nothing wrong with it. I honestly don't like to complain and I've stayed in plenty of old homes, but this gives the $19/night motel a run for it's money. After the first night (of what was supposed to be 3) we ate the cost and went to get a hotel.
