Other things to note
Overall, guests can expect a unique and stylish blend of old and new in a historic house with mid-century modern design, with a focus on simplicity, functionality, and an appreciation for the beauty of natural materials.

*****Note: we are offering 4 rooms of a 6 bedroom house - the other 2 bedrooms:
1. The "Howdy Doody Suite" (upstairs): Queen bed + Queen sofa bed and en suite bathroom with shower
2. Garden View Suite (upstairs): Queen bed + 2 Twin beds and en suite 1/2 bathroom
( for this listing these are private rooms for the owners and can be unlocked if your party is larger that 8 guests - just let us know if you are interested in a larger booking!

Also, friendly reminder -this is a beautiful & rustic country property/house, it is not a luxury hotel. There are critters, deer and turkey, etc. running around the property and making noises. The house is old and occasionally still creaks a bit. Bob Allen and his wife Marie were passionate about their home....and some say you can still feel their presence!

If you are looking for a true country escape/experience, then you have found it.

Thank you for considering our family property

About the host

Host profile image
I am the grandson of Robert & Marie Allen and inherited the property when my mother passed in 2019. My grandparents and mother are buried in the cemetery in town and well known throughout Julian. I brought one of my high school best friends in as an equal partner and we started rehabbing the house and just listed it on VRBO for the first time ever in 2022.

Why they chose this property

My grandparents Minnie Marie Coffee & Robert Y. Allen bought both lots in 1964. My grandfather is an accomplished artist, architect, musician and overall entrepreneur and a true renaissance man and built the entire house himself with the help of a team that he carefully hired. I have been going there since the 70's and have also brought my son and his friends to the property for the last 15 years. It's a very special place and great for kids and adults.
