We are tucked away in the woods (otherwise we couldn't call ourselves a Hideaway ;o) For your last stretch (approx. 1 mile) the road narrows and then gives way to a maintained gravel/dirt. Don't worry, 4WD is not required and this road is regularly traveled by compact cars, delivery trucks, and minivans (like us ;o). You'll be able to claim the true country experience as you traverse the last 1/3 mile. Take it slow and you'll have limited bumps. Consider any bumps you do feel a "country massage". Once you arrive at your hideaway, we think you'll love the seclusion it offers.
We do have security cameras that monitor the exterior of the property.
This neighborhood is approx. 1 mile off the main road and hidden amongst the lush green trees of the foothills. Locals enjoy their rural life surrounded by nature and the peace and tranquility that comes with it. Rivers and creeks meander through the forest. Within a 15 mile radius is Dahlonega Square, a popular spot for food, shopping, and history. You'll also find the University of North Georgia, Consolidated Gold Mine, Zoo and Wildlife Park, Horseback Riding, Yahoola Creek Park and Reservoir - and some of your standards like Starbucks and Walmart. Tomato House Farms is a great local spot for Produce, Deli, & Butcher. Also good spots nearby for U-pick it farms and wineries.

This is a beautiful place to stay, surrounded my nature in the mountains with plenty of room for your family to spread out both inside and outside on the property. Will stay here again if in the area.

We are glad you had a wonderful stay and that the kiddos had fun too. We hope to have you back again.
The house was a perfect spot for our family while in Dahlonega for a wedding. They had all the kitchen supplies we needed to cook in, which made the weekend very relaxing. Lots of conversation around the dining table and living area. We’d stay there again!!

Thanks for the great review! We look forward to having you back again.
House was so cute and very well done! My senior parents were with us so the main floor being on the stairs was a bit of a challenge but we managed it. Be aware you really need an AWD or 4WD vehicle to navigate the last mile and a half. Hosts were wonderful with communication and very attentive to requests. Would highly recommend!
My family enjoyed staying in the mountains. They loved the hot tub as well as the playground area and board games inside. The tubing and mountain coaster in Helen were highlights as well

This house was perfect for a girl's weekend! The decor inside the home is so cute and the views/outdoor space are outstanding. We had the best time. The hosts, Michael and Sydney, were so responsive to all my questions. Their attention to detail was very much appreciated by our entire group. We'd love to come back soon!

Such a great, secluded getaway spot. Still just a short drive into surrounding towns and shops. Every was perfect, great yard for the kids to play and explore the woods.

We are happy you enjoyed it and grateful you spent your turkey day vaca at The Red Hideaway!
We absolutely loved our stay! The hosts were so quick to reply & were great to check in frequently! The house is equipped for babies/kids. We had a 4mth old & 3 year old. My 3 year old quickly found the tub of toys & said “this is the best vacation ever!” The outdoor playhouse & fire pit was definitely a great bonus! We enjoyed our evenings outside relaxing by a fire while my little one played. The home is also very convenient to downtown! We will definitely be back!

Thanks for sharing so many great details. We are glad you all had a wonderful stay. Hopefully we get to host you again.
Host communicated a few days before check-in and during our stay. Host was very thoughtful in providing a well-supplied coffee station and shower/wash station provisions. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit a couple of evenings! Accommodations in prior pictures represented the property extremely well. The property was located a short distance from the wedding venue that we attended, as noted in communication before rental. We had an enjoyable stay at the "Red House" property.

Thanks for the great review, Helen. We hope you get to return again.
The owners were amazing. We had problems with the power with a tree down and they were amazing and very prompt to let me know what was going on. The house is decorated and so perfect for a bunch of friends to get together. We all love the house so much We all wished we had a House just like it. I would definitely rent from them again if we are in the Dahlonega area.

We hope to have you back again! Thanks for being a great guest!
We had such a nice time getting away from the busyness of home to this precious cabin in the woods. Tons of room for the kids to explore and play outside. We all collected sticks for starting a fire and played tag in the huge fenced in back yard. The kids loved the yard games provided and the treehouse. It was very quiet and relatively private. The cabin was super clean and well decorated which I value a lot . We felt right at home.

Glad you all had such a great time! And we appreciate the great things you highlighted . We hope to have you back again.
I cannot say brag enough about this property and this owner! This experience was an 11 out of 10. The photos depict the home very well. 1 BR and BTH on the upper level with living spaces, and 3 BR 1 BTH and laundry on the entry level. Our little group was looking for a quiet getaway. We had no idea how much of a treasure we had found. It is obvious that the owners have thought out your stay right down to the details! It was convenient to everything that we wanted to do, but far enough out to enjoy the peace and quiet. (The fireflies at night are remarkable!) We would have loved to have stayed longer (and would have if schedules would have permitted.) We were sad to depart, but I certainly intend to come back again. At least now I won't have to search for a place to stay! I'll plan my trips back to Dahlongea around the availability of this sweet spot! I have never experienced such great communication with an owner! They are "Johnny on the spot" with communication. They took time out of their busy schedule to check in with us to make sure that all was well. That is unheard of this day and time! It is obvious that with the attention to detail and the way the owners communicate with their guests, they are genuine folks! I can't wait to come back!

About the host

We are Sydney and Michael! We enjoy exploring new places if we can convince ourselves to not keep going back to our favorites...we're looking at you Alaska, Disney World and Hawaii! We have 3 boys a cat and some chickens to round out our family ;o)
Why they chose this property
This property is adorable and secluded in nature which adds to its charm. A great balance of cuteness inside and fun outdoors, like a fire pit, hot tub, bbq and outdoor games
What makes this property unique
Just about everywhere you look is NATURE! Yet it is close to downtown Dahlonega, central to wineries and so many other adventures - one of our favorites is Helen but it's in a race with all the amazing hikes and beauty the Georgia mountains have to offer!
