Perfect for families and groups, enjoy relaxing at our newly renovated “modern farmhouse style” home. A quiet retreat, nestled in beautiful rolling hills. Built by Eli Cox family, renowned covered bridge builders. It’s a short 5 minute drive to local attractions: Winterset Cidery, Covered Bridges Winery & Guye Woods.

Relax and unwind in our beautifully kept farmhouse. The main floor is a warm, inviting space with lots of places to sit and chat, play games or enjoy a festive dinner.

Beautiful farmhouse, wide open countryside, lovely front porch with swing, super comfy beds and plenty of space. Super well stocked with coffee, paper towels, toilet paper, charcoal and fluid, bug spray and swatters!! Tons of pots, pans, glassware, plates and cutlery. Also a full supply of paper plates, bowls, napkins and plastic ware. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, spacious & clean!We stayed in June, the weather was hot, but the A/C units worked great. The sunsets were gorgeous, and we had a fun lightning storm to watch during our stay. We had a fire, played games & took full advantage of the porch swing.We drove a few minutes into winterset for shopping & eating. Pizza Hut delivered, too.

Great country setting

We enjoyed our stay! The beds were comfortable, the house was clean, bathrooms were updated and great! The only thing we weren't thrilled about was the gravel roads to get to the house. The recommendation to eat at The Drift was amazing.

Such a charming house!!

My sibs and my 97 year old mom came for a family reunion and the house was perfect. It was by far the best stocked house any if us have ever stayed in. The communication with the owner was quick and kind. Thank you!

Fantastic Farmhouse Stay

The farmhouse is beautiful, fully equipped! Everything you could need, plus more, just bring your clothes and food. Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated, felt like home away from home. Love the surroundings, felt secluded yet it was a short drive to Winterset. Our family will most definitely say here again!

Clean and quiet

Maybe the cleanest VRBO we have been to. Very quiet property where you can enjoy the sounds of nature. Close enough to town to go grab a few things. Charm of an old farm home. Parking seemed odd for a farmstead, with no driveway. If we want a VRBO in this part of the state we will stay here again.

Iowa Family Gathering

Our stay at the farmhouse

This was a beautifully restored and maintained farmhouse that could have been a model home. Attention to detail was evident everywhere. The house was exceptionally clean, well equipped, and had every amenity we needed throughout our stay. The welcome book was thorough, very informative, and gave us some good some good ideas for restaurants to try. I would highly recommend this farmhouse to anyone looking for a quiet country getaway.

Beautiful Farm Home!

This was a wonderful place to stay while we were in Winterset to attend a family reunion!! It’s a beautiful old farm home that has been loved and cared for over the years. So much character!! It’s very clean & comfortable. The owners have really tried to cover all bases with all the comforts of home..comfy beds, wonderful updated baths & plush towels. Beautiful covered patio to sit, relax and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature. This is a top notch home and I would highly recommend it… you’ll love your stay!

Graduation Weekend Stay

This was a great place to stay during graduation weekend. Lots of space for four adults to get ready, a relaxing porch, and close proximity to our Van Meter family. The only hitch was our arrival. It was dark and we had a difficult time finding where to enter the property. Maybe a little more outside lighting would help. Other than that is was everything we expected!

Cousins reunion

The farmhouse was cozy and relaxing to stay at. I can’t think of one thing that the host did not have covered. You can tell this property was important to them and they have done an excellent job with upkeep. The only thing I did bump down was the location because unfortunately it is located on a gravel road. And with the lack of rainfall, it was extremely dusty- too dusty to enjoy the front porch. Otherwise we enjoyed our time together at the Farmhouse very much! Thanks!

Loved staying at my great great grandfather‘s Cox’s house he built! Loved playing bocce ball with my grandchildren. played card games at the dining table. Especially enjoyed Woodfire every night on the patio watching the sunset.
