Cute place, comfortable, but could be better with minor changes
The home was cute and comfortable, has comfortable beds and ample linens in the beds and bath. The decor is cute.
The negatives are that the amenities are lacking for a rental requiring longer stays. There are no hangers for clothes, no drawers or shelves for clothes, no vacuum cleaner, and the kitchen is very poorly stocked with things such as silverware. The outdoor space is pretty poor and unusable full of poison ivy and a filthy tiny grill on a rotten deck.
Hosts are pleasant but inconsistent in their response to needs/requests.
The basement where the laundry is is terrible. It’s full of abandoned furniture and junk, poorly lit, wet floor, lots of bugs. There is no place to fold clothes or hang anything to dry. The washer and dryer are up on blocks and near impossible to reach things in the washer. There is no step stool or anything to assist with this. The dryer sits on three concrete blocks and tips over every time it is used.
While the home is close to Cass Lake, it’s misleading in the ad because the public lake access is several blocks away. It would be great if lake related information was provided for guests such as where to swim, where to park near the lake, and even provide some beach towels, swim rafts, perhaps a small kayak or something of that nature. If that element was more available, guests may pay more for a cottage like this. The neighborhood is very walkable, and several good places to eat or hear live music or go for drinks nearby.
