A Perfect Stay
My family and I stayed for the weekend so my fiance could run the Charlevoix Marathon, and we had the most wonderful time. The house could not be more fun or more beautifully appointed (the kids joked that this is what our house would look like if we had bought it). The fenced-in backyard, the well stocked kitchen, the awesome chill space on the ground floor - all of it was perfect for us. When it came time to leave, we all wished we could stay. The hosts were amazingly communicative and super helpful, and even offered us an early check-in and late check-out, which made for a super relaxed and easy experience. We will definitely be coming back - this is the best house we've stayed in by far.

Great home for summer getaway!
Cozy home within walking distance to Lake Charlevoix! Great spot for a family getaway - we enjoyed the backyard fire pit with grill, listening to music while eating home cooked meals (several spices and cookware included!), and lounging in the living room. Perfect for 5-6 people with day trips to Mackinac, Traverse City, Petoskey, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and more. Laundry washer/dryer works great as well. Very easy to communicate with the owners for any questions/issues!

Unique, relaxing Northern Michigan Stay
My family and I loved our stay in Horton Bay. The house was just what we were looking for. Super clean, everything was easy and ready, and was a wonderful place to spend 5 days. We had our dog and infant with us. The backyard was a perfect spot for them to hang out and play. The house was slightly off the main drag that it wasnt overly busy but close enough to restaurants and shops we could get to them quickly. Definitely would recommend a stay here!

Family weekend
Overall a nice space for family or multiple couple visit. Comfortable beds and wood stove was a nice touch for cold winter days. Furnishings a little dated and eclectic but shouldn’t detract from rating as everything was clean and comfortable. Location a bit of drive from town

Great location. Lots of windows. Clean.
Wish we could have stayed longer. The place was nicely decorated. I’m not sure it would be great for very young children. My kids were fine at 10 and 11yrs old.

Cool retro home close to Petosky and Charlevoix
Nice stay! Property owner was very responsive. Home is really cool with a mid-century modern vibe. Nice fenced in yard for our dog and close to shopping, restaurants, and lakes.

Openness
Property was clean and bright! Nice size bedrooms and big bathrooms. Open areas for sitting. You do not feel on top of each other! We are avid renters and have stayed many places. With that said we do not usually go back to property’s we’ve stayed at. This one I have already added to my favorites! I do give a thumbs up if you are thinking of renting. Thanks again for our stay and mailing my friends sweater to her!! Great rental!

Beautiful house, perfect location
The house was clean and beautiful, and the fenced backyard was great- just needed my baby gate to secure the one spot that was not secure. The house is just a short walk from the lake. We were able to walk to the lake daily. The homeowners were very responsive and brought a radio to us within minutes of asking and made it a point to get the tv fixed so my husband could watch the football game. The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all that we could need. It was vey helpful that pantry items are there since I forgot my olive oil. The skies were super dark and stargazing was great from the backyard. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Dream of a Stay!
My wife and I have done our share of traveling, and Its safe to say the weekend at Horton’s Bay is the best rental experience we’ve had so far. The home itself is a delight; bad design or poor taste can’t be found, and the decor is enough to charm, but sparse enough to leave a blank canvas. (It seemed to pair well with jazz for us.) If aesthetics matter in your comfort, this is the place for you. No creepy old dolls staring at you over breakfast; there are Real books on the shelves, that you would want to (and should) read. The home’s very unique layout adds a modern touch to a classic up north vibe (very quiet and secluded in the in between summer/fall colors time we went.) It rained the entire weekend we were there, and we brought our bikes to take trips to the many beaches and state parks nearby. But with a few trips to the nearby towns, we had charcuterie boards, local jams and produce, and locally raised beef to grill, and it was a pleasure to just relax in the space. The host was pleasant, quick to respond to both questions about the home and what to do, and even kind enough to leave something for our anniversary. They mentioned being new to renting, so I can only imagine it getting better. Can’t wait to come back with the kids, or in the winter, or with friends… perfect for us!

Beautiful house great location
The home was absolutely beautiful! We couldn’t have asked for a better property! It was so nice having the fenced yard for the dogs (a baby gate kept the one area secure). It was great being able to enjoy a fire and the incredible dark skies for stargazing. The house had everything we needed for meals, kitchen was made for cooking, and it was so helpful having pantry staples- i forgot to bring olive oil. The hosts were very responsive! Craig fixed the tv so my hubby could watch the football game, and Monica brought a radio over almost immediately after we inquired. The house was exactly as pictured-stunning inside and out! The conservatory windows were perfect for snuggling in, yet feeling like you’re outside among the treetops. This trip was everything we could have hoped for! Would stay here again for sure! Thanks to the hosts for sharing the home and being so helpful!

Private charming oasis
My husband and I had a wonderful time staying here with our older kids! The house interior is so charming and eclectic, it takes you away to a different time and place altogether, and the hosts were very accommodating. The property is in good shape yet is also a work in progress for being recently opened. The hosts literally thought of everything as far as needs may go! Great home to entertain in, relax and escape in, and is also right between so many major cities. We were able to take day trips from Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City to Mackinack/St Ignace. Highly recommend.

Great Property
We rented the house for a 4 day stay. The property was unique and true to the pictures. Very spacious on both floors. Had all the amenities and the home owner was very responsive. I just inquired if they had beach towels, and they bought beach towels and dropped them off the next day. Overall, was a wonderful stay. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Great Location!
The Conservatory is located a short drive from popular attractions and cities. It is exactly as pictured and described — beautiful! We enjoyed learning about Ernest Hemingway, exploring different towns, and searching for Petoskey stones along the beaches. We visited “The Hungry Duck Farm” which offers many activities including feeding and petting the farm animals. I recommend checking the times of restaurants, shops, and attractions online ahead of time because many places close before 4:00pm or 5:00pm ( especially Castle Farms on the weekend). This surprised us since we visited during what would be considered “tourists season,” but it probably was because of staff shortages. Monica was WONDERFUL to work with. She was quick to respond to questions and lived in the area if you needed anything. We couldn’t have asked for a better hostess!

Long weekend up north
We were the first guests in this property that looked like it was newly renovated in parts. They did a nice job with the work. Communications with the host were great. For example, there was still some construction dust on the ground floor / lower level, but the host very promptly responded & came and cleaned it. She also gave us very good tips on things to do nearby, was very prompt in responding to inquiries, a pleasure to deal with. We enjoyed the property, the location and our stay & would come back.

Fantastic Mid Century Modern - Beautifully appointed
This place is great and a great location with easy access to Charlevoix, Petoskey and Boyne City right down the road. The house is well appointed and the owners are very attentive, even providing us with a bottle of local wine and a bag of local coffee. With two separate living areas, one up and one down, it was perfect for us. I highly recommend this place.
