We had a wonderful family trip with comfortable spaces for lounging, games and meals. Wonderful host and property manager. We can't wait to stay again!
Such a fun place to stay! It’s not everyday you get to hang out in an old saloon and also stay in back when the day is done. A trip we’ll never forget. We are so thankful for all the hard work you put in to refurbishing a landmark for all to enjoy. What an experience. We are grateful for the opportunity!
Really cool place! We enjoyed our stay.
Prices in the town are equivalent to Disney Land, very expensive. I would suggest going to Alpine for food/groceries, gas etc. or bring your own! We paid $85 for breakfast at the Oasis Cafe and $70 for 2- 18 packs of Coors at French Grocery, NO ICE either.
Anyway, besides that, the house was great! And the owners went above and beyond with the extras. I wasn’t really sure about the checkout procedure because I couldn’t find it anywhere.
Very nice and twice as big as I expected. Location was 100 ft from the Gage hotel , restaurants and White Buffalo bar. Great memories, we will be back !
A+ location. We had 8 in our party while beds for everybody. Right across from Gage gardens and next to the cafe and French Grocer. Lots of games available to play. Heat worked great (December visit). Teens and grown ups liked playing bartender. Fun decor. Parking out back or on the street was great. Nice sound system. Went to the RV park for a star party and lived that part of our visit. No complaints. Would stay again. I recommend keeping shoes on while inside on those historic wood floors (two kids got slivers before we all got our shoes back on). Looks like it may have a steam shower but couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. Saw that the building is up for sale so not sure how long this amazing VRBO opportunity will continue to be available. Book it while you can!
My daughter and her two little girls and husband, my son and her two boys and I had a fabulous time. The saloon was a perfect family play area, complete with a pool table, cowboy hats and guns ven badges for the little sheriffs. The big steel safe even had fake money for a bank rubbery. We had fun role playing and the kids were served apple cider at the bar while we played cards. The kitchen was well stocked with everything, couldn’t find a big bowl so we left our glass one for the next guests. Didn’t find a toaster, but maybe we didn’t look hard enough. The only request to the owner was to remove the AC from the back bedroom window as there was a very cold draft coming through the foam and through the AC vent. We also had hung blankets over the other windows to keep out the draft. Maybe having more blankets might be good also. Overall, everyone said this was one of the most memorable Thanksgiving family gatherings ever!!! Very thankful!!!
To be in Marathon is itself a gift, but to have your own saloon is perfection. This property had enough space so that our kiddos could be quietly tucked into bed while their parents played bartender in the pub. It was lots of fun and close enough to the grocery store, the sights of Marathon, and Big Bend. We had amazing sunsets every night to boot.
