Dogs must be crated securely if left alone at the casa.
Dogs are not allowed on the beds or on the furniture.
Please make sure you pick up after your dog, and dispose of poop properly in the trash.
Please ensure that your pets do not disturb our neighbors, and don’t leave them in the yard unattended, especially after dark.
If our top notch cleaning folks find that your pets have left the house needing extra cleaning due to mud, fur or shedding, etc., you will be charged additional amounts to cover their extra time.

Beautiful home!

We had a wonderful time during our stay here! For a family of 4, it is perfect with the bedroom and sofa bed. Kitchen is well stocked and had everything we needed to make our meals. Backyard is also a great place to hang out, especially at night to view the stars! We would highly recommend this place - felt like coming home every night after a long day of hiking!

Perfect Place to Stay Near Big Bend NP

Very cute small house. Very clean, well-equipped with all amenities that could be needed in kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. King-sized bed was very comfortable. Large covered back porch had table and chairs for eating and two padded chairs for star watching at night and coffee drinking in the morning. Two a/c window units kept the house cool. Good water pressure in shower.

Charming. Clean. Comfortable.

Charming property. Clean. Comfortable. We drove into Big Bend each day of our stay, and although the drive in was a bit longer than ideal, there are limited accommodations inside the park. And the drive was gorgeous in any event. The town is tiny as well, but we found reasonably priced places for breakfast and dinner in lieu of the main hotel restaurant which was quite expensive (but tasty).

Comfortable and nicely decorated. Everything we needed

So cute! The feel was pure Marathon! The back patio with grill and funky lights was a great place for coffee in the morning and making dinner at night. There is even a view of the mountains over the fence and a nice cactus garden. There was plenty of space for dinner and games with friends and wifi worked well so we had music. The bed was really comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked. We love Marathon and Terazas Adobe will be out first choice as home base for our next stay. Thanks Tom!

Very nice, homey. Nice patio, private parking. Gate to keep larger dogs in the yard. Comfortable kingsize bed. Nice dining area, roomy kitchen. Pets allowed. No TV or internet. Take videos and computer for night time entertainment. Marathon Texas is close to Alpine, Big Bend National Park and Ft Davis and Griffith observatory. Huge Vast area. Worth the stay. Magical Weekend in Marathon

I cannot recommend this beautiful home to fellow travelers enough! Thank you so much for taking the best care of us in the magical town of Marathon. Not only did the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom come with every item you'd need, the back patio and yard provided the best dinner and star gazing spots. We visited BBNP and the drive to/from was gorgeous. Brick Vault Brewery provided delicious beers and friendly staff. The 12 Gage Restaurant made for a beautiful anniversary dinner. Big Bend Pizza saved the dinner plans when we didn't feel like cooking after hiking all day. The Gage Gardens were an oasis. Everything about this home and its town was wonderful. I hope you all get to enjoy Terrazas Adobe and we can't wait to come back to stay again!

Liz and Kirk:
I am a native Texan (Houston) and my husband is a native of Colorado. We have lived in Colorado for many years. We fell in love with Big Bend country while visiting the National Park. Who knew there were gorgeous mountains in Texas?? We love the climate, wide open spaces, West Texas culture and the super friendly people out here. I am a graphic designer and Kirk is an artisan and stone engraver. We love the artistic culture and gorgeous landscapes, but most of all, the sunsets and stargazing!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Terrazas Adobe because of its history, and the regional feel of the house and grounds. It is just so much fun to be at the house! We want to be stewards of the history of the house, and the neighborhood in south Marathon.

What makes this property unique

Location! The house is within walking distance of all the attractions in Marathon, plus close proximity to Big Bend National Park! The Amtrak "Sunset Limited" line (New Orleans to LA) stops in Alpine, just 30 miles away! Some of our friends in LA and Phoenix are already planning train travel to come out and see us.

Marathon is centrally located in Big Bend area-- close to Marfa, Alpine/Sul Ross University, Terlingua, and MacDonald Observatory, a world-class scientific reasearch center.

There is so much to do and see in the Marathon area, your stay will be fun-filled and memorable!
