Charming. Clean. Comfortable.
Charming property. Clean. Comfortable. We drove into Big Bend each day of our stay, and although the drive in was a bit longer than ideal, there are limited accommodations inside the park. And the drive was gorgeous in any event. The town is tiny as well, but we found reasonably priced places for breakfast and dinner in lieu of the main hotel restaurant which was quite expensive (but tasty).

So many lucky stars!
We went to west TX to see the solar eclipse of 2024. Though clouds restricted our view in Brackettville, where we drove to see the event, this beautiful casita more than made our journey amazing. We loved everything about the town and our home away from home! The casita is clean, spacious, and comfortably appointed. So many good memories after only 2 days stay. The owners took extra effort to return a few belongings that we absentmindedly left behind. We were so grateful for their thoughtfulness! We are looking forward to another stay, sitting in the backyard, and seeing that beautiful night sky! A million thanks!

Perfect Place to Stay Near Big Bend NP
Very cute small house. Very clean, well-equipped with all amenities that could be needed in kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. King-sized bed was very comfortable. Large covered back porch had table and chairs for eating and two padded chairs for star watching at night and coffee drinking in the morning. Two a/c window units kept the house cool. Good water pressure in shower.

Liz and Kirk:
I am a native Texan (Houston) and my husband is a native of Colorado. We have lived in Colorado for many years. We fell in love with Big Bend country while visiting the National Park. Who knew there were gorgeous mountains in Texas?? We love the climate, wide open spaces, West Texas culture and the super friendly people out here. I am a graphic designer and Kirk is an artisan and stone engraver. We love the artistic culture and gorgeous landscapes, but most of all, the sunsets and stargazing!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Terrazas Adobe because of its history, and the regional feel of the house and grounds. It is just so much fun to be at the house! We want to be stewards of the history of the house, and the neighborhood in south Marathon.

What makes this property unique

Location! The house is within walking distance of all the attractions in Marathon, plus close proximity to Big Bend National Park! The Amtrak "Sunset Limited" line (New Orleans to LA) stops in Alpine, just 30 miles away! Some of our friends in LA and Phoenix are already planning train travel to come out and see us.

Marathon is centrally located in Big Bend area-- close to Marfa, Alpine/Sul Ross University, Terlingua, and MacDonald Observatory, a world-class scientific reasearch center.

There is so much to do and see in the Marathon area, your stay will be fun-filled and memorable!
