About the host

Darin and I (Jessica) came to Rochester in 2000 after graduating from college at Bethany Lutheran College and at Minnesota State University of Mankato. We both come from small towns in Minnesota. We lived in California for two years from 2001-2003. We purchase our first home in 2003 in Rochester. We joined a church the same year. I also started my own online book business that same year as Darin continued working in the technology industry. We had our first child, Isabella, in 2005 and the blessings of children began and so did my second job of being a stay at home mom. We had Bryce in 2006. My health wasn't in the best shape to continue having children. When I was able to, we decided to try for Olivia and in 2010 she arrived. In 2011 Elana completed our family. She began Kindergarten in 2017, so it was my time for my next adventure of care taking by starting Covered By Faith short term living.
Why they chose this property
In 2020 I got a phone call 5 minutes prior to my KTTC interview (about covid-19 and how it affected short term rentals) which is the local TV station here in Rochester MN stating they had decided from the open house who they were going to sell the house to. I told him I was never informed about an open house and didn't even know the house was up for sale. He said “Oh, sorry I thought I had contacted everyone who was interested in the house.” I was too worried about my interview and let it go as it wasn't meant to be. A month went by and at 6am I was reading my email from Zillow and noticed the address and said that address looks very familiar. Sure enough it was this house up for sale. A real estate agent bought it and then flipped the house. We were not going to be able to go see the house till 4pm that evening. By noon I received another email from Zillow.com for this house again with a $50,000 price reduction. My son turned to me and said “God did that for us so we could afford the house.” I told him he was right. This is the neighboring house story which lead us to as owners of this house to sell to us as well to expand and help others in need.

Having restaurants, a mall and grocery stores close by help. Only a couple of blocks off the main highway 52 make this house easy to find and get to.
Quarry Hill Nature Center is 5 miles away. Kutzky Park is only .8 miles away. Skyline Raceway (Go-Karts, Mini-Golf, Panning) is 3.6 miles away. Colonial Lanes Bowling is 6.4 miles. Bowlocity Entertainment is 5.5 miles away (Bowling, Arcade, Laser Tag). Rental at 800 West Silverlake Dr. NE, Rochester is only 3.7 miles away which has self-propelled boats on the river, canoeing or kayaking down the Zumbro River, or biking through the city. Restaurants are only .4 miles, Starbucks is .8 miles away, Walmart groceries is .8 miles away. Shopping Center is .5 miles, and Apache mall is 3 miles.
There are bus routes throughout the city and we do have lime scooters to use throughout the city not during the winter months.
