About this property

Restored 1940's Resort Cabin On Flathead Lake, ~MT~

Two cabins, right on the lake and nestled on a cherry orchard, offer an ideal gathering spot for family reunions and large groups. The property was formerly a resort in the 1940s on pristine Flathead Lake in the Skidoo Bay area. The lower cabin was restored from the original 1940's resort cabin with a new addition added. Both cabins offer an excellent location with stunning views of the lake. Both cabins have a total of three gas fireplaces, three living rooms and fully furnished kitchens, 4.5 bathrooms, two balconies with up close views of the lake, two large decks and a large fire pit area right on the lake. The boat dock was rebuilt and the lakeshore was updated with a new seawall and improved landscaping allowing more lounging space. There are two washers and two dryers provided as well. With plenty of room to spread out it’s the perfect family stay for visitors with children. During cherry season (end of July beginning of August) visitors can enjoy famous regional Flathead cherries to their hearts content. The property offers enough privacy that you can hunker down and get away from everything for a peaceful retreat. This is a summer only rental with a ONE WEEK MINIMUM STAY. Events (e.g. weddings or other) must be pre-approved by owner. Additional cleaning fees and a bed tax apply. No smoking. Boats will need to be put in the lake in at the nearby Finley Point State Park. Boat dock may not be used for overnight mooring and boats should not be kept at the dock if the weather is unfavorable. Owner/Property Management Company is not liable for damage to watercraft if occurs. Parking for RVs or boats must be pre-approved by owner. We highly recommend guests purchase travel insurance as wildland fires can affect the area.

The cabins are only 8 miles from the nearest town and about 20 minutes from Big Fork, a great tourist destination. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Mission Mountains, Mission & Flathead valleys and Flathead Lake on your way to Glacier National Park, The Bison Range, and other Federal & State Parks all within a 2 hour drive or less. The lake is surrounded by State Parks that allow camping and have boat ramps. The perfect retreat for a visit in Big Sky Country.

Safety: Cameras are on the exterior of the premises for security purposes. Caution- cement pad, sea wall and boat dock are right on the water without rails. Decks that are high above ground, and stairs in both cabins, and high retaining wall by garage. Children must be supervised at all times. Front deck on lower cabin closest to water has 15 person max. capacity.

Why they chose this property

The pristine lake, water activities and mountainous views are breathtaking. Nature is right out your front door and the cabin is tucked away just enough that you feel like you've escaped the daily demands of life. We still go there to get away and just be a family. Every visit builds more incredible memories for our family and friends. Visitors are still close enough to town that they can jump in the car and visit Polson or Bigfork for entertainment and sightseeing, all less than a half hour away.

What makes this property unique

It's a special opportunity to lodge in a restored old cabin and have the best of both worlds; the old and the new. The best thing about Flathead Lake is the simplicity and beauty of the destination. The cabin is on a cherry orchard so there's nothing better than picking a fresh bowl of cherries right off the trees during cherry season and walking down to the lake to eat the cherries in the sun with your feet hanging off the boat dock. Jet skiing is a great way to see the lake and cool off or you can pack a picnic lunch and head out to visit an island on the lake and fish, watch the wildlife or just explore. Gathering around the fire pit and roasting marshmallows or hot dogs and watching the sun set is another family favorite. It's the perfect place to hunker down and relax taking a dip in the lake when you feel like it and then reading a book as you sit by the water and lay in the sun. Visitors can also enjoy cooking a nice meal as they watch the view of the lake from the window. After a long day of sightseeing you can enjoy a soak in the jetted tub and cozy up to the gas fire place. Another simple pleasure is eating a nice meal as you sit on the deck overlooking the lake with a glass of wine. It's a little slice of heaven in Big Sky Country.
