Excellent, affordable getaway
This property is outfitted simply but well. I especially enjoyed having a glass of wine on the lovely deck with its great view, despite being close to a road. This is not a luxury getaway, but a well-located (close to the bridge to Vermont) and affordable one. Very good communication from the host!

The smell of mold and wet wood hits you when you walk in....this place has the potential of being cute but is a long way off....as it is I would concider it a health risk....turned around and went out...

This property was not at all like the listing. the house itself is on Hwy. 95 so there is lots of noise. It is NOT “lakefront” as the listing saysThe “view of the lake” is actually across that highway. I understand this cabin has wonderful historical memories for the owners, but it needs much more renovation to make it feel clean. The mildew smell was overpowering. The futon in the living room was hardly functional with a paper thin mattress on a wire frame. It is listed as a futon / sleeping unit. The kitchen was clean and had functioning appliances.though and we were able to cook meals. The patio looks unsafe with patched flooring and ropes hanging over the edge for whatever reason.

Very, Very Rustic
I couldn't decide whether to review this property of not, but decided that I should. The property is well located, but badly in need of upgrades.....for instance, the bathroom sink had no hot water connected to it when we visited in July. Arriving late at night there were no outdoor lights leading to the stairs up to the house, nor lights on the porch where we needed to get the key. The railing into the house is unfinished and the 91 year old got a splinter going in. My guess is that in the winter the house is heated with kerosene, as the house smells like kerosene on the inside. The night before arriving, I got an email saying the oven wasn't working. There is a lovely note inside talking about how the owner is converting the house that her parents owned into a rental and detailing the history of the house, but had we known how much work needed to be done, we probably would have opted for something with hot water in the sink.
