About this property

Grand farmhouse, big groups, close to skiing, 1 mi to VT, XL Hot Tub.

Perfect for family gatherings, reunions, and large groups. Historic farmhouse on 20+ private acres surrounded by woods, fields, streams, a pond, and no neighbors in site. Only minutes to Bennington and Hoosick Falls! Plenty of beautiful space inside, double living room, expansive 3 season porch, large kitchen, 2 offices, kids suite. Our two families purchased this house to create a place for us all to gather and now after 18 months of renovation we are ready to share this treasure with you!

Built in the mid 1800's this historic farm house has many original details and features. We (two sisters and their families) purchased the house with the intention of hosting large gatherings of friends and family and we have set things up accordingly.

Enter through the front door into the large double living room which has a beautiful rounded double door with original hardware .This divides the space into a cozy room for gathering around the wood stove and a larger room with plenty of seating for games or socializing. With plenty of natural light through the many large original windows this is also our favorite place for a quite morning coffee. The dinning room boasts a table that seats 16, made from reclaimed oak and chestnut timbers from the property. The kitchen is large enough for many to cook together. We added a commercial refrigerator to accommodate loads of groceries and beverages.

On the other side of the house is the three season porch with tons of windows and plenty of seating.

The first floor also has three bedrooms (one with a king bed and two with queen beds) as well as two bathrooms. There is a room which we use as an office or a smaller lounge. The back room has a washer and dryer and space for lots of coats and boots etc.

The house has three separate staircases to reach the five bedrooms upstairs. There are three regular size bedrooms two with king beds and one with a queen bed. There is also a primary suite with three separate rooms, one with a king bed , one with a single bed/day bed and one set up as an office area.
Then there is the kids room which has two separate areas; a play zone with a TV, a large couch, toys and pillows. Beyond that are two double bunk beds with full size mattresses in which we have often slept eight kids (two to a bed) . There is also a full bathroom upstairs.

There is a whole house water filter which was provided and is maintained by the DEC. As you may or may now know Hoosick Falls had a PFOA contamination issue. Our property's water was and continues to be tested and PFOA has never been detected but the property still qualified for a water filter. The filter treats water at the point of entry to the whole house with two granular activated carbon tanks.

Family Thanksgiving
This home was spectacular and was everything we were looking for. Our three families came together to celebrate Thanksgiving. The table was big enough for all of us to sit around, the kitchen was large enough for 3-5 cooks at one time, the living room was large, comfy and perfect for long talks or quiet reading. With a wonderful playroom upstairs, we even "lost" the children for a while! We slept well, ate well and played well. Thank you for sharing your wonderful 1880 farmhouse with us.

Family celebration
My family and I enjoyed our stay. We were celebrating my daughter’s graduation from Williams College and the travel time to and from the campus was good. The house was spacious, clean and adequately stocked with fresh linen and cooking utensils. The beds were very comfortable, WiFi and Sonos speakers as well as streaming in the tv room were available. Sam and Laura did a beautiful job renovating the home and much care and thought went into making sure future guests would enjoy it. My personal favorite was the dining room table. My only disappointment was that two of the rooms didn’t have cooling units and with the warm temperatures over the weekend, the rooms were inhabitable. They have units on order so hopefully it won’t be an issue in the future. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Two sisters (Laura and Sarah) and their families purchased this property together to have a place for family and friends to get away with plenty of room for everyone.

Why they chose this property

This property is very unique. Built in the 1800's and changed and improved over time the house rambles on but retains many original features and its charm.

What makes this property unique

The house has plenty of space for large groups to gather. We made a special area for the kids so that they have a great time while the adults can get time to enjoy themselves.

This is a great base to explore skiing in the area. We are close to many great ski mountains.
