Escape to Mallard Cottage, a private 2-BR waterfront retreat on Lookout Shoals Lake. This newly remodeled, pet-friendly home offers breathtaking views, a full deck, and a private dock. Perfect for a relaxing getaway for couples or small families. Enjoy the open-plan living space and fenced yard in a quiet, serene cove.

We respect our guests' privacy and aim to provide a peaceful retreat. We will not be on the property during your stay, but we are readily available via phone or the messaging app should you have any questions or need assistance.

The neighborhood is a short peninsula that extends into Lookout Shoals Lake, Ridge St. dead ends not far past Mallard Cottage.
The area is quiet with friendly neighbors. If you have to park outside the driveway please do not block the boat ramp in the vacant neighboring lot, it is used heavily by locals.

Guests will have private and exclusive access to the entire cottage and its grounds. This includes the 2-bedroom house, the full upper deck, the covered lower patio, the entire fenced yard, and the private dock with a boat slip. Entry is seamless with a keyless keypad, allowing for flexible self-check-in.

Our cottage is a charming 2-bedroom, 1-bath bungalow, freshly remodeled to create a space that is open, fresh, and welcoming. The home is raised on piers, providing an elevated and special view of the lake that is as beautiful in the morning as it is in the evening.

Inside, the open-plan living area features two large glass doors, offering a full, uninterrupted waterfront view from almost anywhere in the cottage.

Our stay at Mallard Cottage was peaceful and relaxing! The house was clean, well-stocked with updated appliances, comfortable, and private considering it’s not quite boating season. We didn’t bring a pet but noticed the dog toys and treats available to guests! We enjoyed sitting on the porch and drinking coffee while watching the waterfowl do their morning routines. I would recommend staying here and I would visit again if the opportunity came!

Our stay at Mallard Cottage was lovely. The lake was quiet, which made for such a relaxing stay. We were able to launch our kayaks, and paddle boards so easily. The kids could launch the kayaks on their own. The cottage looked just like the pictures in the listing. We had everything we needed, and more. The hosts we so kind, and quick to respond. We will definitely be back!

Great Cottage

I was looking for a great place to stay for a week just to get away when i came across mallard cottage. The cottage was clean and check in was fantastic. The location was great as it was located equal distance from Asheville and Charlotte. The views from the deck were outstanding and a wonderful place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee while watching the ducks swim around. Our fur baby enjoyed the fenced in yard. Communication was great with property manager and there were no surprises. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking to come back next year.

Immaculate home on Lookout Lake. The thoughtfulness put into this space was amazing. Beautiful inside & out with incredible views. Enjoyed swimming, fishing and paddle boarding right off private dock. Lovely fenced in yard for our two dogs to safely play and lounge in the sun. BBQ grill & outdoor seating for your family meals. Hammock & porch swings add to the whole peaceful outdoor living space. Will definitely be returning to this lovely vacation home!

We were very happy and hope for another visit!

It was clean and well equipped. There was dog toys too! There were spices, coffee and wine! We actually brought our keurig lol. We might suggest new bathroom towels. The dryer was down so I couldn’t wash them. The wonderful host alerted us right away, before we arrived. We might suggest a bench on the pier. A way to see local news is all I can add. It was great! The WOW house!!!

This home was Amazing!! I called it the WOW house!! Soon as you pull up you think WOW!! The view WOW!! As soon as you step inside the house you think WOW!!! I’ve cleaned a lot of beaches houses over the years and this was the most beautiful home I’ve ever been in. Everything was so clean! So perfect!!! Very dog friendly with fenced In yard and a toy box full of cool doggie toys. Our dog loved swimming in the lake and running around the yard and playing in the doggie toy box….. Very nice and peaceful!!! Very quite neighborhood . We may have seen 2 people and maybe 2 cars go by the whole time we were there. We went to celebrate my birthday and get out of the house while my husband is recovering from his back surgery. It was perfect location we were able to ride and see the parkway. Next time we may bring our sailboat and enjoy the beautiful lake or may be returning a lot sooner to see the leaves change color. It was perfect!! Can’t wait to go back!!! Thank you to the owners for sharing you paradise with us. We are sooooo grateful!!! Thank You!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!

Great little lake house!

This place was perfect for us! Everything was clean and nicely updated! The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need if you are planning on cooking. The only negative we had was the bed was not the most comfortable and is a bit noisy when you shift position.

We wanted to get away but not spend hours in the car. This cottage is in a wonderful spot, close to Hickory. Comfortable & tastefully decorated. Beautiful view & great amenities. The kitchen is fully equipped for foodies. Easy check in & communication from the hosts. Our dog was happy too! We loved the deck and hope to return. Highly recommended.
