Comfortable and welcoming

We had an amazing stay. The appartement is comfortable and welcoming. It is clean, the host went the extra mile for us to enjoy our stay. We enjoyed the location of the appartement and where able to indulge in good food, visit the museum of St Johnsbury and much more.

Fall visit with friends

The second time I have stayed here. This time with my wife and two children. A perfect apartment for our family to use as a home base for hiking and visiting with friends. We spent the days out and about hiking and exploring and came home to a warm, comfortable, clean spot where we could relax and play games and recharge. Host has created an excellent space!

Overnight stay

We enjoyed our night. The only challenge was the stairs for my parents who are in their late 80’s. It was okay because they only had to navigate them briefly, but it would have been rough if we had been staying longer. Thank you for making it such a pleasant stay!

A lovely spot at the edge of town

We really enjoyed our brief stay in St. Johnsbury and this house was a great way to experience it. Excellent, thoughtful touches with snacks, a very organized and helpful guide to the local scene, and a super-straightforward process for arriving and accessing the house.

Enjoyable stay at Fairbanks retreat

My family of 4 stayed at the Fairbanks retreat for 6 nights in July. We came to Vermont to mountain bike and the locking shed in the back yard was perfect for keeping our bikes safe. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked stocked. Walked to dinner at Prohibition kitchen, several other restaurants were within walking distance (5-15 minute walk). Great communication with the owner who lives right below. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Clean, quiet, good location

We were pleased with the property and with interactions with the owner/manager. Plenty of room and with a private, nice second-floor porch. Bit of a steep stairway to the apartment, which was on the second floor.

Second year staying here. We didn’t even research for a different place We were close to my son in lyndonville, able to have dinners and play games on our deck in evenings. Close enough to hiking areas (within walking or driving distance), corn mazes, Sunflower farms, and able to walk into St. Johnsburry for shopping or a meal. Love this place!

Great weekend

I stayed with two of my friends for a weekend. The unit was clean and well represented by the description posted. We particularly enjoyed the walkability to the center of town. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you are looking for a place to enjoy what Saint Johnsbury has to offer.

Great night in Vermont

The Fairbanks Retreat was very nice. Very nicely put together. Clean and very comfortable. We would highly recommend this accommodation. The stairs are a little steep but doable. Overall a great stay. Thank you Kris

Exceeded expectations

My daughter and I stayed here the night before she was taking a test at a local school. We really just needed an affordable place to sleep for the night, but this was so much more. Cozy, inviting, spacious, and too many thoughtful extras to name. From a basket of extra toiletries in case you forgot something to an extensive assortment of coffees and teas with every type of coffee maker available, a dishwasher, loads of games and a spacious living room/dining area. My daughter and I found ourselves wishing we had a reason to stay longer!

Great place to stay

Wonderful 2 bedroom apt style property on Main St, just off Route 5 in St. Johnsbury. A quick walk or very short drive to downtown. Kitchen was well stocked, property well maintained. Kris even had little gift baskets/cookies waiting for us. If you're a coffee lover, I think there were at least four different machines in the kitchen to prepare coffee. Very quiet part of town too.

Home away from home

Immaculate stay. Over and above hosts with special touches. (Chocolate kisses for our anniversary, snacks, toiletry items if you forgot anything, coffee/tea bar. We loved sitting on the porch for morning coffee and in the evenings! We will be back!

Very quaint and welcoming stay!

The owners took every effort to make us feel welcome and the place to be as comfortable as possible even before we arrived. Their responsiveness and thoughtfulness really elevated our stay. The apartment is comfortable and cozy. Very comfortable couch. Beds were awesome. Kitchen has all the amenities, including every coffee and tea appliance you could ever need. This was a great place to come back to after a full day.

Family vacation with adult kids that we haven’t seen in three years due to COVID

Property was fantastic. Inclusive of a deck, games, full kitchen, washer and dryer. Very comfy beds/pillows. Drove to different areas to hike in the beautiful trees, around lakes and up mountains. Convenient and close to our son in Lyndonville. Perfect for us and very private and quiet compared to a hotel. We all loved it. Thanks Kriss for your hospitality!

Everything you need in one place!

Kris was very easy to communicate with and quite helpful. Her thoughtfulness really shows in her provisions and preparations for our stay. And her official greeter in the form of her tortoise shell cat was a real bonus! We enjoyed being able to hear the water from the river down the street as well. We would stay there again if our travels bring us back this way. Thanks Kris!

Santa's Nice List

Kris and Jeff are excellent hosts. The home was merry and bright on all fronts, complete with lit Christmas trees! Everything needed was provided and then some. We even found a much needed band-aid! All we needed was a few more days to bask in the comfy home, snack basket and yummy coffee bar. We'll definitely be back to this Fairbanks Retreat, a treat indeed.

Relaxing get away

Targeted St. Johnsbury for Dog Mountain visit which was a goal of mine to get up there. Was really pleased to find a good, safe and affordable place to stay at. Was very comfy and cozy. Loved the place - lots of zen. Obvious signs of thoughtfulness on the part of the landlords in the contents. Last night there, I took a walk up the hill to the downtown on a misty evening and fell in love with the town. The trees were budding with flowers,p so with the rain and flowering blossoms just a bit of nirvana -- such a nice picturesque area. If you head down the hill from rental - its more industrial - so go up the hill for a nice walk and you won't be disappointed.
