The building from 1253 was restored in 2019. The apartment with 4 bedrooms, four bathrooms and two kitchens is located on the first floor of the castle. Additional beds can be placed. A chapel from the 17th Century and event rooms can be rented additionally. On request, individual rooms can be rented. Regensburg can be reached by car in 20 minutes, with the e-bike it takes 35 minutes to Regensburg's Old Town.

A very special castle

The owner has brought this castle back from ruins. He has created a wonderful and quirky environment for his own family and his guests, full of history and liveable in the present. A network of cycling and hiking paths is at your doorstep and Regensburg is not far away too.

Castle

The castle is so unique and it’s in the cutest tiny town. Hans showed us around the common areas then the guest rooms. He gave us some wonderful recommendations for dinner (Osteria di Vini -awesome) and around the area. A great start to our trip.

Pleasant stay in this historic building.

The host was very helpful and friendly. The property was very beautiful. The home is historic and the owner has put effort into every detail and antique piece of furniture. This rental consists of 2 full 2 br apartments, all with their own master bath. Everything including the locks were antique. The plumbing and electrical was upgraded which was nice. This was a perfect relaxing place to stay. If you are looking for a unique place to stay. We rented a car and it was very easy to get to town. There were lovely close hiking trails that were very close to the castle. I would recommend if you are looking for a relaxing place to stay.

A Unique Experience

This property is truly unique. A castle built in the 1700's but modernized in many ways. I may have missed it in the listing but we weren't prepared to share the castle with the owner and his wife. The downstairs features a huge great room with rough timber floors, an office for the owner, an incredible, original 1700's chapel, and a few rooms apparently being refurbished. Our family had the second floor. In the middle was a huge great room. This would have been a wonderful area to share stories at night except - it had no heat, was very cold, and there was no furniture. On each side of the great room there was an "apartment" - each with two bedrooms, a small kitchen, and two bathrooms. The bathrooms are all modern and very nice. Some of the rooms have been renovated but most are very rustic. I think the owner is renovating this property room by room. When he finishes it will truly be one of a kind! Meanwhile the floors are very rough and there are no comfortable chairs to be found upstairs. I gave four stars because our family spent sleep time only at the castle. No microwave, no TV's, no place to unwind was not an issue for us. Bottom line - this is an incredible, historic property. When the owner finishes the renovation it will be a jewel. If rustic isn't your thing you might want to look elsewhere. I'd like to see Hans add a little more information to his site. The castle is minutes from Regensburg and there are a number of very good restaurants in the area.

Diese wirklich außergewöhnliche Unterkunft hat uns in eine ganz andere Zeit versetzt. Man kann dort sehr gut die Gedanken baumeln lassen und gute Gespräche führen. Die Umgebung inkl. Regensburg ist Klasse.

Schloss Schönenberg in Wenzenbach

Das Schloss Schönberg befindet sich in perfekter Lage. Tagesausflüge sind direkt ab der Schlosstür möglich und abwechslungsreich. Das Schloss ist detailgetreu restauriert und strahlt einen besonderen Charme aus. Leider geht der Komfort dabei etwas verloren. Unter anderem sind die Fenster nicht sicht- und lichtgeschützt, ein Zimmer unserer Wohnung war nicht beheizt, die Wohnungstür war nicht verschliessbar. Beschreibungen des Inserats trafen teilweise nicht zu z.B. befand sich in unserer Wohnung keine Kaffeemaschine, die Grillstelle existierte nicht.

Für unsere Familienfeier im engsten Kreis ideal

Ein Tisch, an dem wir ausreichend Platz für unsere gemeinsamen Mahlzeiten und Gespräche hatten, eigentlich alles, was wir zum gemeinsamen Kochen gebraucht haben und keinen Fernseher, der uns dabei gestört hätte. Frische Feigen aus dem Garten waren eine kleine Überraschung, die haben an einem Tag gut zu unserem Essen gepasst. Der Supermarkt unweit der Kirche ist gut sortiert, die größte Überraschung dort war der frisch geröstete Kaffee, der uns allen gut geschmeckt hat. Wir haben uns hier in dem historischen Ambiente wohl gefühlt, jeden Tag etwas Neues entdeckt und unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Jahreswechsel auf dem Schloss

Wir wurden vom Schlossbesitzer mit einem: „Wir haben Sie schon erwartet!“ begrüßt, und seine Freundlichkeit, seine Führung durch die Räumlichkeiten und Erklärungen haben uns sofort heimisch fühlen lassen. Schon beim Eintreten in die Halle des Schlosses spürt man nicht nur die Geister der Vergangenheit, sondern auch den Geist des jetzigen Schlossherrn und der Schlossherrin. Nach jeder unserer Wanderungen in der wunderschönen Umgebung haben wir uns auf die Heimkehr in „unser Schloss“ gefreut. Wer gerne in altem Ambiente gepaart mit modernem Komfort Tage verbringen möchte, ist auf Schloß Schönberg gut aufgehoben!

Wunderbares, authentisches Schlosserlebnis

Ein wunderschönes, aufwendig saniertes Schloss in dem man praktisch in der Geschichte wohnt. Dabei entsprechen Küche und Bad jedoch modernsten Anforderungen, sodass man trotzdem auf nichts verzichten muss. Der nette Schlossherr nimmt sich auch die Zeit für eine Führung. Außerdem ist noch ein großer Garten und Schlosspark vorhanden. In der Umgebung sind zahlreiche Klöster, Biergärten, Regensburg und Wallhalla zu besichtigen, sodass wir bereuen, nur 4 Tage da gewesen zu sein

Ein echtes Schloss

Wir haben das Wochenende in diesem wirklich außergewöhnlich schönen und besonderen Ambiente verbracht und rundum genossen, das Schlossherren Ehepaar war ausgesprochen nett und zuvorkommend,die Kommumikation lief reibungslos. Die Räume sind wunderbar renoviert und sowohl modern als auch historisch möbliert vom Bett bis zum Sekretär. Die Sanitären Anlagen sind auf dem neusten Stand. Die Küche ist hinreichend ausgestattet an dem 300 Jahre alten Tisch lässt sich gut essen und trinken. Wir kommen sicher wieder und können ihnen aufgrund der guten Erfahrungen nur zu einem Aufenthalt raten es lohnt sich!

Leben im Schloss

Der Schlossherr begrüßte uns bei einem riesigen Weihnachtsbaum und festlicher Musik in der Eingangshalle des Schlosses! Wir erhielten eine interessante Führung durch das mit Begeisterung und Einsatz restaurierte Schloss. Der Schlossherr und seine Frau waren sehr hilfsbereit, so wurde z. B. ein zusätzliches Gästezimmer für unsere Silvestergäste hergerichtet, als sich deren Rückkehr nach Regensburg ohne eigenes Auto als schwierig erwies. Wir haben die himmlische Ruhe genossen und uns zwischen den antiken Möbeln sehr wohl gefühlt!

Schloss Schönberg

Wir haben in der Zeit vom 24.10. bis 28.10. für vier wunderbare Tage an einem außergewöhnlichen Ort zu Gast sein dürfen. Gastgeber und Schloss haben auf uns einen nachhaltigen Eindruck hinterlassen.
