About this property

Quiet Family/Pet Lakeside Stay - Flat Lot!

Welcome to Smith Mountain Lakeside Cove! Come enjoy our newly renovated waterfront home this Fall with almost 150' of shoreline and peaceful views of the state park. It's a great spot to watch the leaves turning colors on the trees in the neighorhood and across the water at the state park. Great location on and off the lake - 15 min to Food Lion, 20 min to Bridgewater, 10 min to restaurants, and 10 min to golf. The flat lot provides easy access to the lake with a swimming area right off the yard and deeper water at the end of the dock for fishing and mooring your boat. 6 kayaks and two SUP's are available, we have plenty of parking, and are pet friendly!

Our biggest draw to this home is its location on the lake, and the family friendly nature of the property. Being just inside the wide cove entrance makes you feel like you're still on the lake as opposed to 'up the river'. The state park across from you cuts the already minimal boat traffic in half and lets you enjoy views of nature as opposed to more houses. Wildlife is abundant in the neighborhood; squirrels, deer, geese, and cranes frequent your yard and shoreline. It's a short walk to the water and there are no stairs to get from your back deck to the shoreline - which means you don't have to lug all your coolers and food down and have to choose between being 'down at the dock', or 'up at the house'. There is a set of stairs to access the water from the yard, which means the kids can play right there in the shallower water along shore while you're still in the house, enjoying the back deck, or under the many mature trees that provide all day shade throughout the back yard!

Deeper water at the end of the dock proves great fishing, and easy boat access. You will have full use of our portion of the dock, which shares a walk way with the neighbor's dock. Our dock consists of the boat house nearest us and the floating dock adjacent, where you will have exclusive use and can moor your boat and jet skis at either. If you don't have your own boat, you can grab any of our 6 kayaks and life jackets and head out on your own adventure to explore the shoreline of the state park. If you want to just hang out in the water, we have lots of pool noodles you can use to float around with.

As you walk in the front door, you can choose to go up the stairs or down the lower living level. The upstairs of the home features a open kitchen / dining / living space that will make it easy for the family to all be included in the fun. Large windows and doors are a plenty to make sure you always have a great view of the lake. The kitchen is equipped with new appliances, loads of counter space, and all the basic supplies you would need for your time there. The dining room table has ample seating for 6, with extra chairs in the closet if you need them. Living room has a large sectional with 3 power recliners and a 55" Smart TV. Down the hall you can find the first bedroom with a king size bed, and a full bath.

Downstairs is another living area with a second large sectional couch with power recliners, 55" TV, and easy access to the outside fun. The two bedrooms downstairs share a full bath with an adjacent laundry room at your disposal. One bedroom features a king size bed with its own large sliding glass door giving you those beautiful morning views of the lake to wake up to. We built custom bunk beds in the other downstairs bedroom consisting if two full beds, two twin beds, and stairs for easy and safe access. THESE ARE ADULT FRIENDLY BUNK BEDS, they are extremely sturdy and have enough head room for adults. You can be 6' tall and sit on the bottom bunk without hitting your head on the bunk above you. The top bunks have about 4" less headroom than the bottom bunks do. Each bunk has their own storage area at the head of the bed, outlets to plug in your electronics at night, and selectable / dimmable LED lights for a splash of fun, or reading lights at night, whichever you prefer. The bunk room has its own 55" Smart TV if the kids want to hook up a gaming console or watch movies and cubby storage for each of the beds.

The garage houses the kayaks, paddles, pool noodles, life jackets and includes a second fridge for drinks or any overflow you don't want to keep up in the kitchen. Please note there is no access to the garage from inside the house, you'll have to go outside to get into it.

Each living area and bedroom has its own minisplit unit for heating and cooling, so you'll be sure to be comfortable. The upper deck has a fixed awning during the summer months to give you some extra shade. There is ample parking on the property, with two driveways you'll be able to easily accommodate any size boat trailer without having to unhook and have plenty of room for other cars. We have Xfinity internet with the WiFi router placed near the back of the home insuring that anywhere you are at in the house or on the deck you'll have great connectivity!

On the decks, new for 2023 we have added some new outdoor furniture. The lower deck features an oversized couch and two chairs with a table for drinks, games, or to kick up your feet! On the upper deck we have an outdoor dining table with 4 chairs, and additional seating along the railings. We have adirondack chairs available also that you can move around as you prefer.

As a bonus, it's not too common on the lake, but you don't have to worry about packing all your own bedding and bath towels if you don't want to! Linens will be provided for each bed, and each guest will have a bath towels available at no additional cost. We do ask you bring your own lake towels and any towels you may need for your pets. You'll have full access to the house, kayaks, garage, and boat dock.

We are pleased to provide you a starter pack of kitchen and bathroom supplies. Paper towels, a toilet paper in each bathroom, dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher tabs, and garbage bags. We love our fur babies and hope you can bring yours with you too. We do charge a $100 pet fee per pet for week long stays, $75 for shorter stays, and pets are subject to our approval, please let us know what and how many you would like to bring and we will be as accommodating as we can! You may consider bringing a crate to help your pet feel comfortable while you are gone as you will be responsible for any damage that may happen.

Little Slice of Heaven
We had a wonderful stay at Malcolm's home in Moneta, VA. The house is lovely and in a great location to get to a wonderful restaurant within minutes and a general store that has everything from fresh veggies to homemade donuts. And everything in between. The ride to get to a grocery store is about 15 minutes. And they have the best park in the world in Moneta for dogs to run around for acres and acres. Malcolm's home was very nice and had two distinct levels so that multiple families could stay. The yard is wonderful and the lake views were beautiful. The kitchen had everything you could need and was well stocked. As it was winter we didn't do any lake activities but imagine that this house would be splendid for that. The surroundings are magical. We had a heron land right at the edge of the water. Sunsets were amazing as well. I highly recommend Malcolm's place to stay for a wonderful trip to visit Smith Mountain Lake.

Enjoyable Lakeside
We enjoyed the house and grounds, it was pretty quiet and we liked the view. The flooring proved to be a little slippery for our senior pup, Malcolm was very kind and offered to try and fix it but we were able to improvise a solution. We found the house to be everything we expected and Malcolm was a great host. We would definitely recommend staying to our friends.
