About the host

Host profile image
Heather & Rad are fun loving South Africans who realized a dream by ourchasing this 17th Century Mill in South West France in 2001 as a second home. They love everyting French and try to spend ss much time as possible there in between running their business in Johannesburg and travelling to different parts of the world for business and pleasure.
The Ancient old Mill is a passion, they work tirelessly upgrading, redecorating and improving. making this a very special home from home.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love for this 17th cent. mill because of its unique architecture and the potential it offered. The beautiful stone it is built from, the surrounding water and established secluded garden surrounded by open fields and woods. We loved this area because it is so green and lush with many interesting things to do and see. Each village is more beautiful than the next with castles, churches, caves, markets and historical sites all within a short drive, cycle or walk. In addition to all this... the 'cuisine' of this region is famous and one can dine out on foie gras, confit de canard and other Quercy delights wherever one goes in the area.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the peace and tranquility of our property but never feel isolated becasue of the close proximity of the surrounding villages and friendly locals who always welcome us with an inviting wave and smile. The cuisine and gastronomic delights a real attration in the many local restaurants in the surrounding villages. This area is great for hiking and cycling enthusiasts. We enjoy the many historical sights as well as the geographical places of interest like caves, rivers and lakes close to us.
