Location, location, location. You only live once, Spend your vacation in our Playa Avellanas Beach House with 2 large master bedrooms, and a 3rd bedroom/living and dining room, 3 bathrooms, with hot water in all the showers, 3 California king sized beds, ice cold AC, ceiling fans in each room, 3 different flat screens with Apple TV and Netflix for each room, very strong and consistent high speed WiFi throughout, fully equipped kitchen, large teak dining table, lots of local antiques and art work, 6 extra large hammocks, BBQ, 3 covered patios, and beautiful gardens, all surrounded by nature. This is the perfect place for peace and quiet, relaxation and serenity. The house is very safe and secluded, all privately gated and on over 1/2 acre. Your reservation includes paid exclusive beach access through neighboring Cabinas Las Olas, and their world famous mangrove boardwalk. This is an incredible place to observe wildlife, enjoy beach walks, superb sunsets, swimming, boogie boarding, surfing, fishing, golfing and so much more. It is just a short walk to the beach out front, as well as lots of local restaurants, bars, shops, and groceries. Rental cars are not necessary. Taxis, tours, as well as transfers from Liberia airport (LIR), can all be easily arranged for you. Please let us know if you have any questions at all. Loved this place!

This property was fantastic and we absolutely loved our stay here! It was only a 10 minute walk or so to the beach which was stunning. It was homey, clean, secure, filled with wildlife, and let me just say I think I may have taken the best naps of my life on those hammocks. Ben was a fantastic host and even provided private surfing lessons for our kiddos which they absolutely adored. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

Great stay

We had a great trip. The host/owner was on site and immediately responded to any concerns we had. We were there a month, so we became friends. We had several dinners together, and shared rides into tamarindo for groceries, produce, etc. he was great with our boys and their girlfriends, helping them with surf boards and advice. The listing, however,, was not accurate……there was no downhill or cross country skiing.

This VRBO was an excellent fit for out family: me, my spouse, and our two young adult children. We were together and yet had plenty of privacy- 3 bathrooms (fantastic showers) and 3 large comfortable beds! Ben is a wonderful host, providing great advice and recommendations, easy to contact at any time. We rented a car for our trip but rarely used it while in Avellanas, preferring to walk rather than ride around on rough roads. There is quite a variety of dining options that are 5-10 min walk. We cooked a few meals at the house as well. The stove works well. Beach access down the road and through Cabinas de Las Olas was a nice walk, especially when rewarded by magnificent surf and gorgeous sunsets.

Amazing stay at PLAYA AVELLANAS BEACH HOUSE

My family and I had an amazing stay at Playa Avellanas Beach House. Ben is the best!! So thoughtful and truly cares about his guests. We were lucky enough to have him give our three kids surf lessons (all got up on a wave)!! The house is an easy walk to the beach and Ben gets his guests access to the famous board walk through the mangroves. The house is also very close to a number of restaurants and shops yet does not feel touristy at all. My family and I highly recommend staying with Ben and enjoying all the beauty Playa Avellanas has to offer.

We loved our stay here and were bummed to leave and to say goodbye to our host, Ben! This was a fantastic spot for our family of six, with three bedrooms, each featuring a king-size bed and its own bathroom. The local beach and the walk to it were amazing—we saw so much wildlife! Our host was incredibly helpful, providing excellent recommendations for restaurants and local activities. One highlight of our trip and a recommendation from our host was visiting a nearby turtle hatchery, where our kids got to release a baby turtle into the ocean. Ben even shared some freshly plantains for the property, which was a cool experience for our kids. Thanks again!

I loved it

This place was great. Though Avellanas Beach was a short walk from the property, it felt secluded and remote. I could hear howler monkeys in the trees, which was cool. The house was gated and felt safe and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. I would gladly visit again.

Great Costa Rican Getaway

Stayed here with a group of 5. There was plenty of room for us in the house, it didn't feel cramped. The property was nice and secure and the hammocks were great to lounge in. We all felt like the walk to the beach was fine and would consider it the definition of walking distance. Would highly recommend this place for a group looking for an authentic Tico experience.

Beautiful Location Lovely House

The hammocks were so relaxing with all the nature sounds and birds singing. There were even howler monkeys and scarlett macaws in the yard. The walk to the beach was absolutely gorgeous and the beach was even more stunning. This was all around such a great stay. Can’t say enough nice things.

The house was perfect for our little surf adventure! Once we figured out that the boardwalk to the beach was through the Cabinas Las Olas across the street...the location is perfect! Thanks for being so accommodating to a later check-out!

Authentic Costa Rica experience

If your looking for an authentic experience Ben’s beach house is the place for you. 1st Ben is a great communicator who was readily available pre-trip for any questions and recommendations we had as 1st time visitors. The beach house is ideally located within Avellanas beach town which is an up and coming location. The gated house while rustic is comfortable and we found we were able to relax while watching the Howler monkeys who regularly come through the property and ate as a troup from the mango trees. Amazing experience. Ben regularly checked in on us a group of ladies to ensure we were safe, and had all that we needed. Costa Rican roads are notorious for pot holes, crazy drivers and takes much more time to get to your destination, so keep that in mind if your a 1st time traveller to the country. In saying that a car is highly recommended to see further and to pick up supplies if self-catering. We had decided to eat breakfast on location and dine out each evening for dinner and the number of restaurants and quality of food did not disappoint. A few recommendations I made to Ben upon request for feedback are more chairs on location and beach chairs and umbrellas to make the beach day more comfortable. It would also be helpful as many VRBO locations have a binder with local activities & restaurants for when your not available to recommend. Relaxing stay

Ben could not have been more helpful or attentive, even providing additional details and tips prior to our arrival. He was there to greet us, but his presence was overshadowed by the group of howler monkeys on the property - what a thrill! The house was spacious enough for the 4 of us, the stunning beach was a short walk away, and the local fare was delicious and affordable. The area was quiet enough that we were able to relax in the hammocks. All in all, a fantastic way to end our Costa Rica trip!

Very Spacious, Comfortable, & Walk to Beach!

Ben is an excellent host. He stayed in touch with me the whole time we stayed there to make sure everything was great. His property is amazing. Very comfortable, spacious and waking distance to Lola's and all the surf spots for us. Also 10 mins drive to Playa Negra. Big beds, AC in all rooms, Netflix, hot water and even had Apple TV. Lots of hammocks outside to relax. I highly recommend this place. Pura Vida to the max!

Perfect Costa Rican experience!

Loved this place!! Clean, spacious home with everything we needed. Ben was very kind, attentive and made sure we got there okay. He was close if we needed him but we had our privacy and didn’t see him. We went to sleep and woke up to the birds and had howler monkeys literally right outside our door! Playa Avellanas was one of the prettiest beaches and we had a great time at Lola’s!! Lots of things to do in walking distance! Loved it here and can’t recommend this place enough!! Ben was just wonderful!

Live Like a Local

Ben and his staff went out of their way to initiate and maintain communication with us as soon as we arrived in Costa Rica. We loved spending time outside on the hammocks and deck, and the proximity to the beach and restaurants was appropriate walking distance for our family which included small children. We had some hiccups with hot water and outlets due to a lightening storm but Ben and his crew were very responsive and got the issues resolved promptly. The property felt safe and we were happy to experience life in a Costa Rican style home. I would recommend the property to anyone with similar expectations. We would stay there again! Thanks Ben!

Aunts in every bathroom. Very heavy doors including main gate Combination Two adults needed to slide gate. Beach not what you call walking distance. Water pressure was so low could barely wash or brush teeth much less shower. The place was so depressing, we left after two nights. We are requesting some refund.

Great beach cottage

We spend two weeks in this great cottage and had a wonderful time. Exactly like described: three bedrooms, three baths, a kitchen, air conditioning, spacious with a rustic charm. Beautiful art pieces hang from the walls and ceilings. Great for families, surrounded by trees and animals. Very close to the beach so that we would walk every morning to enjoy the waves. It’s impossible not to fall in love with this beach. The sunset is magical and my favourite time of the day for a stroll along the water. Last but most certainly not least our host Ben is truly a wonderful human being who did everything to make our stay great. Even pave the street because of the dust! We made extraordinary memories here while unwinding and touching base with ourselves and our family as a whole. We really appreciate you Ben, thanks for teaching the girls how to surf and for sharing your piece of paradise.

Avellanas Surf,

We stayed with our adult children , 7 people all together. The house looks even better than the pictures, it was very clean and obvious pride taken in the preparations. The 3 California King beds were great, the AC a luxury and 3 bathrooms with showers! I booked this home based on good reviews about Ben himself and he didn't disappoint - he went above and beyond, he helped the surfers in our group, with boards, suggestions and lessons/coaching. He also was full of great info on the area, where to eat get groceries, tours and transport. He lives the Pura Vida life. The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes, we got to see howler monkeys and all sorts of birds , geckos lizards on the way. The boardwalk through the mangroves was the best. The price for accommodation is very reasonable based on location, Avellanas beach is gorgeous and not over crowded. Lolas and Las Olas were daily visits for food. We all hope to visit again.

Really cool beach house!

My boyfriend and I were above satisfied with the beach house! Ben and Luz (the housekeeper) were extremely helpful and accommodating! The cute and cozy cabina has everything you need while giving you the true vibe of Costa, to live simply. We rarely ate out but instead shopped at the local grocery store just a short 7-10 min drive down the road and cooked all our meals at home. The cabina was cleaned regularly and the cleaner did an awesome job.. The beach was amazing! Short walk either down the Las Olas boardwalk or through the river mouth. The waves were also amazing as my boyfriend is a surfer and this was the perfect location to travel both ways up and down the coast in search of waves. Howler monkeys live nearby as well as all sorts of amazing wildlife and vegetation. We did two tours from here, the tour group "Anywhere Costa Rice" will actually pick you up from the hotel next door which was awesome and convenient and they have many options to pick from. All in all, we loved this place and wish we didn't have to leave!
