About the host
Hosted by Clark Vandeventer
I like big adventures -- outdoors and in life. Skier, Cyclist, Runner. Training for a 100 Mile Run. Husband to Monica, Dad to Jackson, Emery and Abby. Fundraiser for non-profits. Author of unWorking. Lover of travel. Have visited 49 states in the US and and 22 countries, and lived for a year and a half in Guatemala with my family. After calling California home for my entire adult life, my family and I recently moved to Alabama! Wow, that's different! Our home in South Lake Tahoe, CA is a vacation rental, and I love sharing our home and using it as an opportunity to be a host and ambassador to Tahoe and the beautiful Sierra.
Why they chose this property
Long before we had a vacation rental, I viewed myself as a sort of unofficial Lake Tahoe Ambassador. While we no longer live full-time in Lake Tahoe, my wife grew up here, and our family lived here for ten years before life took us elsewhere. The home you are staying in was our family’s primary residence for five years. We’ve done a lot of life here!
My name is Clark, and I’ll write this guide in the first person, but I wanted to introduce you to my family! My wife is Monica, and it’s possible that you will interact with one or both of us while planning your trip. We have three kids -- Jackson, Emery, and Abby -- who are now 15, 13, and 10.
Our local contact is Carol. If there's any trouble with the house when you check-in or if any emergencies arise while you are there, Carol or her husband Lance will be there to take care of you. If you have any other questions or if any issues come up -- if you want advise on where to ski or can't figure out the thermostat -- just message me!
If you have questions about outdoor adventures, I’m your guy! Shoot me a message. I’ve run, hiked, or biked to about every random lake in the area. I’m a runner, trailrunner, mountain biker, road biker, skier, paddleboarder, and adventurer. I’ve hiked to many of these lakes with while carrying beach chairs and schlepping kids and gear. I know these mountains! Give me a holler. I’d love to point you in the right direction! You can also check out my Guidebook for South Lake Tahoe that is available on Airbnb.
This is our home, but we’d love for you to feel like it’s your home too!

What makes this property unique
The only thing we love better than having a home in Tahoe is having a home in Meyers. We love this little community! You're a ten minute drive to the best beaches in South Shore and have easy access to Sierra-at-Tahoe, Kirkwood, and Heavenly for skiing and riding in the winter.
Our street dead-ends into forest -- that’s Tahoe Paradise Park. If you walk from our house, down the street, and into the forest -- in exactly ¼ mile you will arrive at Lake Baron. Just beyond Lake Baron is the South Upper Truckee River. If you go along the river, you’ll arrive at the central part of Tahoe Paradise Park where there is a community center, playground, and tennis and pickleball courts. If you cross the river, you are in Washoe Meadows State Park. There’s a beautiful meadow with views of Mt. Tallac. There’s a wonderful network of trails between Tahoe Paradise Park and Washoe Meadows. The river is shallow and safe in many places to cross, but for the safest crossing, follow the river all the way to the golf course and there is a bridge the golf carts use. These trails are great for walks, running or biking in the summer or cross country skiing or snowshoeing in the winter.
During the summer , there’s a Farmer’s Market at Tahoe Paradise Park on Wednesday evenings with food, artisans, and live music.
