About this property

The Pink Orchid: Private Oceanfront Oasis Near West Bay & West End

Welcome to The Pink Orchid—a private Caribbean sanctuary where unforgettable ocean views, tropical gardens, and island life come together.

Some places are simply a place to stay. The Pink Orchid is a place you’ll remember long after you’ve returned home.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll understand why so many guests return year after year. The Caribbean stretches before you, tropical gardens surround the home, and the pace of everyday life simply melts away.

The space
Where mornings begin with coffee overlooking the Caribbean and evenings end with unforgettable sunsets.

Set on two lush waterfront lots, The Pink Orchid offers a level of privacy and open space that’s exceptionally rare in the West Bay area.

Unlike most homes in the neighborhood, you’ll enjoy almost complete privacy. One side of the property is bordered by your own lush tropical garden filled with more than twenty varieties of hibiscus, flowering plants, palms, and a shaded pergola overlooking the sea. On the opposite side, a natural creek and tropical hillside create a peaceful green buffer, making it feel as though you’ve discovered your own secluded island sanctuary.

Wake each morning to panoramic views stretching across the Caribbean and the world’s second-largest barrier reef. Sip your coffee beneath the shade of mature tropical trees while hummingbirds dart among the hibiscus, parrots and macaws soar overhead, and the gentle sound of the waves welcomes another beautiful day on Roatán.

When you’re ready to explore, stroll down the private stairway to the beach and neighborhood dock. Snorkel the crystal-clear Caribbean, launch one of the complimentary kayaks, catch a water taxi, or walk to nearby West Bay Beach and West End—all without needing a car.

As evening approaches, return home to one of Roatán’s most spectacular sunset views. Relax in the hammock, enjoy dinner on the wraparound deck, or gather on the private sundeck as the sky transforms into brilliant shades of gold, orange, and crimson.

This is the Caribbean as it was meant to be—peaceful, private, and unforgettable.

Designed for Comfort

The Pink Orchid comfortably accommodates up to eight guests in three spacious bedrooms and three full bathrooms.

The recently remodeled gourmet kitchen is thoughtfully equipped for everyone from casual cooks to passionate food lovers, with premium appliances, quality cookware, generous prep space, and a well-stocked pantry of everyday essentials. The open-concept living and dining areas are filled with natural light and expansive ocean views, ensuring the beauty of the Caribbean is always part of your vacation.

Outdoor Living

Life at The Pink Orchid naturally revolves around the outdoors. Relax on the spacious wraparound oceanfront deck, unwind in the hammock, dine beneath the shade of tropical trees, soak up the sun on the private sundeck, or escape to the garden pergola with a good book. Whether you’re gathering with family, enjoying a quiet morning coffee, or watching another unforgettable sunset, you’ll always have a spectacular Caribbean view.

The Pink Orchard is a truly amazing place to stay. The beautiful house is very well equipped with plenty of common area to enjoy. The view is breathtaking to say the least. We enjoyed amazing sunsets every night and the ocean access is only a few steps away. We also enjoyed the use of the kayak and pier. Juan Carlos was extremely helpful as was Kayleen and Wendy. We look forward to returning again soon!

We cannot say enough about how incredible our stay at The Pink Orchid was. From the very beginning, the hosts were exceptionally thoughtful and attentive, communicating with us before our trip and sharing fantastic recommendations for things to do in Roatan. Their care and attention to detail truly set the tone for an unforgettable experience. The property itself is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and every detail has been carefully considered to ensure guests have everything they could possibly need. It felt both luxurious and welcoming, with all the comforts of home in a stunning tropical setting. Our time at The Pink Orchid exceeded every expectation. We are already looking forward to returning and cannot imagine staying anywhere else when we come back to Roatan.

Pink Orchid is an incredible home to spend a Roatan vacation! The home is so beautiful and well equipped that you feel like you could stay forever. The home was incredibly clean and well kept. The outdoor area is so inviting with tables, chairs and lounges. The location is away from the crowds but only a walk or water taxi to West Bay or West End. Having access to sea kayaks provided us the opportunity to cruise the coast and travel out to snorkel the reef. It is a wonderful amenity to have available. The owners provided detailed information and suggestions for the Pink Orchid. They followed up right before the trip to ensure we had all the information we needed to make our trip memorable. We had an amazing trip and can’t wait to visit the Pink Orchid again.

Beautiful place. Great location. Easy access to West End and West Bay. Lots of great dive shops very close, and the one we selected was able to pick us up right from the dock of the property. Wonderful hosts who were easy to communicate with. 5 stars

Love the Pink Orchid!

Our two families stayed at the pink orchid for 5 nights, but we wish it had been longer. We loved turtle beach, the kayaks the owners let us use, the kitchen, the deck, the hammock, proximity to clearwater adventures diving, and the backup power system which kept our food and drinks cold even though the island had no power. Did i mention the views?? Just incredible! We loved it here. Better than any 5-star hotel.

What a Spot!

We really enjoyed the location of this comfortable home. It was easy to walk to either West End or West Bay for meals and snorkeling and the views from the deck were fantastic. Some of the best snorkeling is actually straight offshore from the private dock. If you elect to not rent a car, be sure to stop for groceries in Coxen Hole on the way in--or enjoy the variety of restaurants you can walk to from the house, as we did. Both the owners and property managers are very knowledgeable and helpful. This is a perfect place to relax. You'll have a great time here!

Amazing stay at Pink Orchid

We stayed as two couples at the Oink Orchid in early June. The location of the property is great as its exactly half way between West End and West Bay. We walked to West Bay quite a few times during our stay and twice to West End. Snorkeling off the dock was actually really good as well. The house was clean and very well stock and the a/c worked great as well. You'll be amazed by the view off the rear deck as you enjoy your morning coffee or a cocktail in the evening. AL is a great host with good communication too. Would highly recommend you staying here during your island vacation.

They have a lot of birds including humingbirds, parrots, macaws, pigeons. There is also some beautifull iguanas and the guatusas ( agoutis ). They have kayaks and you can get the reef in lees than 10 minutes . We enjoy a lot the beautifull reef. Is a perfect place for a 5 to 6 persons vacation. Close to the better restaurants.

Excellent place

Love “The Pink Orchid” - stayed here several times. The view of the water is panoramic with the turquoise water and boats moored 500 feet out. Picturesque with phenomenal sunsets. The palapa for the deck was awesome for providing shade from the Roatan sun. We loved to float, snorkel and kayak right from the shore. Amenities are wonderful for cooking, air conditioning when needed plus washer and dryer. The home is comfortable and well decorated with all the extras. The property is lush with foliage and flowering plants. Numerous decks to enjoying morning coffees and then evening sunsets! Loved it!

Relax in Paradise

Beautiful home, stunning views and sunsets, snorkel off the dock and nearby, walk to excellent restaurants along the beach. We had daily visits from hummingbirds and colorful macaws. Easy to flag down a water taxi to go to West Bay or West End. We had a lovely snorkeling outing on the reef in a boat that anchored with us, only $10 each!! We loved it all!! Also, our caretaker Juan Carlos was delightful and always friendly and helpful. The owners were always responsive, and the other support staff were also excellent. We are so happy we chose The Pink Orchid. Also, we didn’t cook much but the kitchen was awesome and equipped with everything you need. Thanks for a delightful vacation!

Amazing week at Pink Orchid

This place is incredible. We loved being up in the trees with the macaws and lizards but also right on the beautiful water. Our group did diving trips every day in the morning and floated and snorkeled off the dock in the afternoons. Blue Moon diving (Las Rocas) picked us up from our dock! The house and everything in it was very comfortable and worked well. We walked to great restaurants down the beach and took water taxis to West End. Had lots of great meals! We rented a car and enjoyed the adventure of driving on the island. One of the on-land highlights was visiting Daniel Johnson’s Monkey & Sloth hangout. We hope we will be come back some day and do it all again. Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us!

Yes!

You can tell when owners have lived in their rental. There's the little things that make a big difference: clean sponge in the kitchen, full spice rack, extra blankets, etc. And the wrap around porch with the view! Airport pick up + stop at the grocery store on arrival was included. The Pink Orchid is ideally located about a 10 minute walk to West End and 20 minutes to West Bay. Entry to the water from the dock directly in front of the house is sandy, clear, and about chest high for easy access. You'll want a rental car if you aren't booking activities that include transportation. We do an island trip every year and this house suited the five of us perfectly!

Fabulous stay

The Pink Orchid is well stocked and has everything you need to enjoy Roatan. Al and Pam are terrific hosts. We enjoyed sunsets on the deck most every evening. The vegetation around the property added interest and privacy. The bedrooms did not share common walls with each other, so that offered a lot of privacy as well. IOt was perfect for our group of 5. Marty picked us up from the airport and stopped by the grocery store on the way in. (Highly recommend you do that too). Blackie cooked for us two evenings; we bought fresh fish, shrimp, and lobster from the guy who comes to the house; and Juan Carlos opened fresh coconuts for us to enjoy one day. Juan also helped us with a third kayak that we needed for our group. The snorkeling and diving were fantastic. It's easy to catch a water taxi right from the pier. The kitchen was very well stocked. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Heaven

Our stay was flawless! We arrived and a driver was waiting for us and then took us to grocery store. We loaded up. We arrived at property and accessing the house was very easy as the instructions we received before arriving were perfect. Once in home, it was very clean. We were six women with plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen is well stocked. Ensure your purchase dish soap and detergent - we remembered the detergent but not dish soap. Thankfully the prior renters left us enough to complete our week. Restaurants were reasonably priced and food was DELICIOUS! The water taxis easy to wave them in to catch a ride to West Bay - that walk is a little treacherous due to rocks but walk to West End is glorious - sand all the way except for a bridge. Snorkeling right of pier is as good as going on a tour. My sis-in-law saw two small octopuses - exciting!! It was a chance meeting at a salon that we needed up at this gem - we all loved our time. Thank you for sharing our slice of heaven with us!

Home With Everything Including Amazing Views!

There were three in our party that shared Al and Pam's beautiful home. It was nice because we each got our own bedroom with bath. The location was halfway between West Bay and West End (about a 20 minute walk either direction). I felt very safe running on the beach in the morning alone (I am a female). The house had everything we needed. It was very comfortable. There are numerous large windows in the house to enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets at night. Unfortuneately, the weather wasn't the greatest with cloudy and windy days, but we still enjoyed just relaxing in comfort. We took a beginner diving class at Bannarama at West Bay. The staff was very nice and professional. Even though we could only dive to 40 ft, it was amazing! I'm going back to get certified. I would definitely recommend stopping at the grocery store near the airport. The smaller stores in town are very expensive. The caretaker Juan Carlos was very nice and would come by to change our water bottle when needed. We would definitely come back and stay at The Pink Orchid !

Oasis in between West Bay and West End

The Pink Orchid was amazing. Not only for its location but also because it has one of the best deck in the neighborhood. And as a bonus, there is a shared dock with a beautiful palapa from where you can swim and snorkel but also catch a water taxi. The coral in the shallows is small but it is filled with life. It was an easy walk to a few restaurants nearby wich made it very convenient. But you can also walk to both busy and touristy areas: the walk to West Bay involve walking on an elevated bridge and the walk to West end involve a bit of rocks and maybe walk in shallow water at high tide. There is a lot of people walking it all day. Otherwise, the house is set perfectly above a cliff to watch the sunsets. The surrondings are lush with trees: coconut palms, date palms, mango trees and there is flowers everywhere you look! Like a botanical garden. The macaws visited us before every sunset. The house is amazingly well stocked and comfortable. There are spices for a lifetime and lots of kitchen tools if you need it: blender, ice cream maker, name it! Juan Carlos, the caretaker lives next door. He is very sweet and is always around to help. He brought us some fresh coconuts that he picked and prepared in front of us! The area is quiet and very pretty. It is like an oasis: you wont regret it!

That view!

Beautiful home in a perfect location! This property was exactly as described in the listing. The owner and property management communicated wonderfully around the property and activities of interest in the area. The view from the deck makes it completely worth the trip! We spent many hours just soaking it in, with the joy of seeing the pair of Macaws fly over several times, watching both iguanas and geckos, so many hummingbirds, and the capybaras. We enjoyed the restaurants within walking distance and had Blackie cook for us one evening. We all agreed that was our highlight meal! The kitchen contains anything you could need to cook at the house, the internet and air-conditioning worked well. Several of us had to continue to check in with work while on island and had no issues with video calls. The house is beautifully equipped. The information book was very helpful, the pre-travel emails, as were the previous guest notes. We had a few minor hiccups, but the staff was quick and responsive to help us out. The location is perfect to enjoy both West Bay and West End. We enjoyed the Rum Factory, Brewery, and Chocolate factory. Spending a day snorkeling at West Bay, and a day enjoying the local feel to West End, an island tour including a boat ride through the mangroves and a visit to the sloth sanctuary. We enjoyed many hours on the dock, floating, snorkeling, enjoying the reef right there and kayaking out to the reef. With very active kids, we were never bored!

I will NEVER rent with VRBO again and risk my vacation

The view was stunning, the house was pretty, and clean. Nothing else met or exceeded expectations. The description promises a fully equipped home with solar backup, phone, and unlimited internet. Only after you fully pay and it’s not refundable are you fully informed of the limits via email not on the site. You pay 1st world prices and get told you’re in a 3rd world when things don’t go to plan. If you need reliable amenities, don't count on them. I'm so sad and depressed after my stay. I can’t redo my vacation and it’s too precious to risk using a vrbo. We couldn't find the phone passcode it wasn’t in the book. It was in an email I couldn't access because the internet was out. Kayleen was onsite with the AC guys else we’d had no way to reach out. The NO GUARANTEE of minutes means 0, allows only emergency calls; on day 2 we got 10 minutes added. In Cambodia the hotel provided unlimited phone/internet for free. We needed internet or would have booked elsewhere. The Internet was cut off because the account credit card expired, not from an outage (my Columbian companion overheard them talking). Things happen; it's how you handle it. The Internet worked 2 hours out of the 6 days. The owner informed me I was in a 3rd world country. I've stayed in 10+ developing countries, had no problem and marvel at how much better, cheaper, and reliable it is to the US. In Thailand it’s $30 for giga bytes. Unlimited access for 2 weeks cost $8 in Honduras. Anything battery operated was dead. The in-room safe batteries too corroded to work, remotes and alarm fob too, the replacement batteries also corroded. Planned maintenance should be automatically done and not by me. The power went out 3 out of 5 nights for 9-10 hours at a time; solar only runs auxiliary lights, fridge, and fans and not much else. The description does not mention AC being unusable on solar; it reads like you will have power. You're going to be sweaty, hot, and uncomfortable. In August the rooms are 90+. The nearby hotels never lost internet, AC, or power. After paying you’re told the snorkel gear is AS-IS it means 1 set of fins with straps, 3 with no straps, two masks with straps 3 with broken straps, 1 working snorkel two that leak. On-demand hot water means only 1 source of use at a time, or you get only cold water. 3 showers and 1 water heater is poor planning. I got 1 hot shower out of 5. I asked to be moved, that wasn't an option. Just deliver what's promised and not amend after payment.

Response from VrboOwner on 17 August 2022
There is a reason we have over fifty 5-star reviews on VRBO. We work hard to make sure our renters have an outstanding vacation. Thus we have never felt the need to write a response to a review in our 13 years of renting. In fact, the party that left on the very day this renter arrived, wrote another glowing 5-star review after their week-long stay at The Pink Orchid. This is our first negative review and we feel it was unwarranted due to circumstances mostly beyond our control. After an unfortunate day without internet, this person seems to have lost it and thus looked for things to criticize going forward. Yes, after the problem was resolved, there were hardware issues with the internet company and there were power outages, but that is life on a Caribbean Island and we hope our renters are able to go with the flow when this happens. Below are our counter-arguments to each point of this negative review: 1) Once we were alerted to the Internet problem, we took personal responsibility for it and corrected it. Unfortunately our credit card on file with our Roatan Internet provider was compromised in the states a few weeks beforehand, the card was discontinued, and while we were awaiting a replacement card our provider attempted to collect the auto payment. Unbeknownst to us, the payment didn’t go through, they neglected to inform us and instead turned off the service. Once the renter contacted us that the Internet wasn’t working, we jumped on it and service was reinstated the next day. However, power outages and hardware issues with our provider, none of which are within our control, caused the internet to continue to have issues for a couple days. Anyone who has been to a Caribbean Island understands that power outages can be a common occurrence and the internet is unreliable at best. 2) The “guest” phone is normally reloaded prior to arrival, but evidently this did not happen for the this renter. The code is communicated well ahead of time -- in this case it was provided two weeks in advance to the renter. In addition, we have now added the code to the backside of the phone for convenience. 3) It's atypical to have three outages in one week and especially at night, so we are assuming there was some major problem with RECO that required time to repair. Apparently, the entire neighborhood experienced this as well. Sadly, we do not have any control over this and luckily it is a rare occurrence to lose it overnight like this. 4) We have rarely had the batteries on remotes, the key fob, or the safes go out for our renters, much less all of them in one visit. These same batteries were apparently working fine for the previous renters. We replace the batteries often to prevent this problem, have additional batteries onsite, and insist our property managers check them as well, since the high humidity and salt air of the island can cause corrosion more easily. 5) The solar system is intended as a backup only. This backup system powers the essential items, like fans, refrigerator, water pump, hot water heater and there is a dedicated circuit in each room in the event of a power outage. This is much more backup than most homes in our area provide. The system is not powerful enough to power the AC’s without using up the stored batteries within a very short time -- it is merely intended power essential household needs in the unfortunate event of a power outage. 6) How to use the on-demand hot water heater is explained in communications prior to arrival and on a laminated info sheet located directly on the breakfast bar for all our renters. 7) As for the snorkel equipment, it is provided simply as a convenience and also quite heavily used. We go through it whenever onsite and weed out the damaged or problem equipment, but it's often a losing battle. Renters use the equipment freely and don't always leave it in pristine condition. We have the equipment available as a courtesy but our recommendation is for people to bring their own equipment if they are serious snorkelers. In closing, here are a couple of excerpts from the people who rented both before and after this stay in question: Received from the person who left the morning that this renter arrived: “The Pink Orchid was perfect! All of the pictures and reviews were spot on, and the house was in an awesome location for us between west end and west bay… Overall this was one of the most relaxing and fun vacations we’ve had, and we would highly recommend staying in Roatan and Pink Orchid.” Received from the person arriving a couple of days after this renter departed: “We just got here to The Pink Orchid. The house is wonderful and as I was telling the staff, we really feel welcome.”

The owners, Al and Pam Kuck, live in northeastern Wisconsin in the United States. Al is a retired animal geneticist for one of the largest cattle breeding organizations in the country and Pam, also retired was an educational consultant working with school districts and state departments of education around the country. They have three grown daughters, and seven grandchildren who live worlds apart in Wisconsin and Australia. The family tries to gather annually in Roatan for reunions. They have enjoyed boating and water skiing all their lives and especially love the warm weather of the island during Wisconsin winters.

Why they chose this property

The Kucks researched the many Caribbean Islands and found Roatan to be one of the most beautiful. It's lush tropical vegetation, white sand beaches, turquoise blue waters, sweet unaffected towns and pleasant local people made it a natural choice for them to purchase their home. The location of the Pink Orchid within walking distance from West Bay Beach (one of the world's most beautiful beaches) and West End (a diver's paradise) was important to them. There is something in the air on Roatan that makes visits unforgettable and draws one back again and again...perhaps the old-world charm of a time long forgotten when life was slow, lazy, and peaceful was what attracted them to this tropical oasis. The addition of two cruise terminals and two golf courses promise the island will continue to thrive and prosper. Al & Pam want to share their home when not in use so that you too can experience the lure of this unforgettable island paradise.

What makes this property unique

The Pink Orchid is uniquely situated in the neighborhood and on the island. The neighborhood is expanding, but The Pink Orchid is bordered on one side by a side lot that Al & Pam turned into a lovely garden oasis and on the other side by a natural creek and "green"area filled with coconut palms, banana trees and local flora. Thus the home sits away from the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood and right on the water, a mini sanctuary in one of the most sought-after parts of the island. Its location is the other unique factor, because the house sits within walking distance the two most popular towns on the island: West End and West Bay Beach. And you can stand on the dock and flag down a water taxi if you don't feel like walking as they pass by all day long every 5-10 minutes. Lastly, because the house is located on the tip that faces westward, the sunsets are exquisite and something you never want to miss each evening. With a drink in hand and a few appetizers nearby, there is no better way to usher in the evening watching the sun sink in all its fiery glory!
