We have stayed in Jamestown, R. I. several times, usually staying with family. Betsy was such a wonderful host, we will certainly enjoy her property again. The beds were extremely comfortable. We didn't do much sightseeing as we have done alot of it before and we were there for a family wedding. The location is perfect, away from Newport, but close enough to go and forth if you need to. The Narragansett Pub in Jamestown is a hoot! Best pub for people watching and a 15 minute walk. Slice of Heaven is a local breakfast spot that is definitely worth a try. Betsy is a wonderful and thoughtful host. We feel lucky to have stayed there.

What a gem!

We had an amazing stay at the Waves Carriage house! I was there with my husband and daughters (ages 3 and 11 months) and the house was perfect for us. It's beautiful, clean, full of all amenities you could need, and the view and sunsets were gorgeous. Betsy even had a highchair for us! The location could not be better. We were able to walk to downtown, restaurants, the beach, the harbor, and even the playground. And Betsy could not have been a better host. She was so helpful, accommodating, and friendly. I will definitely stay here again!

Gorgeous space in a beautiful little town!

Betsy was the best host we have ever had. My one year old great niece was with us and Betsy helped me 'baby proof' the stairway with a gate. Also, she provided a high chair and pack and play. Moreover, she was leaving for the weekend so she gave us pizza and wine to enjoy as we were unpacking. Her condo is full of beautiful artwork and very clean! Jamestown is beautiful and you can walk wherever you need to go. I highly recommend!

Dreamy stay

The waves of Jamestown is nothing short of 5 stars. Betsy is a phenomenal host and her place is beautiful and clean. She gave us a warm welcome and was very attentive throughout the duration of our stay. We enjoyed taking her little red wagon on walks to the beach, park, grocery market, and to a local pizzeria. She gave us excellent recommendations for local eateries and places to explore. With a toddler and a newborn we are a bit noisy and Betsy did not complain once. She was both gracious and generous with us. She even let my daughter feed her koi fish! I would definitely choose to stay here again.

Delightful stay in every way!

Traveling solo, I just spent 2 weeks at this wonderful, spacious, fully-equipped, well-maintained, beautifully landscaped property. The 2B/1B Carriage House Apartment is in a very desirable location, and perfectly met my needs, enabling me to invite a family member to come and stay with me for a few days. Driving around the island is amazing, with sailboats dotting the harbor and endless scenic views. Mackeral Cove is a picturesque beach that is walking distance. The town has a variety of great restaurants ( I loved Standards and the Wharf Deli), and McQuades supermarket is conveniently located at the end of the street, and has a great variety of freshly baked breads, meats, deli dishes, and everything you need. Susan was an excellent host and very helpful and responsive to requests. The area is perfect for sightseeing, and there are lots of interesting shops in Jamestown, Wickford, and Newport. I’m ready to book a return stay- maybe 3 or 4 weeks next time!!

Very nice host and location.

This property is located in a cute and very quiet neighborhood. A little beach is just down the road and there is also a small grocery store nearby. It will be helpful for you to know that the access to this apartment is up a long indoor staircase to the 2nd floor above the garage. We loved the antique wood furniture which is simply gorgeous and the beach/nautical decor is a delight. The host is also an artist and you will enjoy her paintings which adorn the walls...so beautiful. Since this apartment is attached to the main house, you will sometimes hear the owners on the other side of the wall, walking about and opening and closing doors. If you retire late and are up early, this should not be a problem for you--including the garage door noise--which all of this is minor. It is a spacious home, the beds are comfortable, the host is very kind, and the kitchen is nice. The kitchen is fully stocked with every type of cookware, bakeware, dishes, glassware, and flatware you need. If there were improvements we could kindly suggest, it would be with Spring cleaning the baseboards and steam cleaning the red loveseat upholstery (or getting a new loveseat cover), and getting new cushions for the bar stools. Also, upgrading some of the bedding (blankets), and upgrading some of kitchen skillets and cooking utensils would be a nice touch. Should you have any issues during your stay, the host is very responsive to correct your situation. She is gracious and we appreciated the hospitality.

Over many years as a VRBO host, I’ve never encountered a more discerning guest. Although this assessment is an outlier, every visitor’s experience has validity and there is always room for improvement. Your feedback has prompted me to look more critically at the apartment as a whole and to make some changes. Steam cleaning of carpets and upholstery is done annually each spring. Guest satisfaction is my primary concern, and I’m glad you enjoyed visiting Jamestown.

A wonderful and well-appointed respite!

My daughter and I had a lovely time in Jamestown and it was highlighted by the beautiful home Betsy has created and maintained. It was the best appointed rental we’ve ever stayed in. Plenty of kitchen supplies and laundry supplies, beach chairs and not to mention a giant blueberry bush (which was in season) and we were encouraged to pick from! Betsy’s hospitality was perfect. Completely responsive and friendly! I can’t recommend enough and we hope to be back!
