About this property
Suede- A stylish studio: extended stays, garden
One day, we walked into a local coffee shop, and saw a gentleman sitting at a table, working on his laptop. His laptop had a suede binding to it, and it’s accompanying briefcase was a vintage sepia toned enclosure which looked as though it had recently been hand-brushed. His fedora was perched intentionally on the seat next to him, and his pocket square and sibling pocket watch were a display of elegance.
His shoes were expertly shined, and his style caught our eye because it was both sophisticated and understated. He wasn’t creating a show for attention, as he never looked up from his work; he simply was the epitome of elegance and style.
We thought about this gentleman for several months afterwards. Who was he? What was his work? Why was he in this city- a city not known for sophistication. We came up with none of these answers, but designed this space with him in mind. Where would a traveling professional like himself like to stay, without the noise of a hotel room? What would his choice color palate be, and which decor would he want on the walls? The answers we came up with, are what you will find in Suede; a small studio apartment with style.
This apartment is decorated in a palette of navy, grey, and brown. It is a small space: 225 square feet. Perfect for a single person who needs a functional living space to sleep in between work shifts.
The sleeping accommodations are a twin sized daybed, which doubles as the couch. The twin sized couch/daybed does have a twin trundle underneath it, should you have a guest stay over.
The bed, as listed above, is twin sized. If you are over six feet tall, this may feel small for you.
The shared backyard has solar lights, a dining area, and a community garden with vegetables to share.
Located less than a mile to Salem Health, the State Capital, and Willamette University.
The apartment is on the top floor of a Victorian house (c.1900) that has been converted to four separate apartments. Each have their own door, and are completely separate from each other.
The top floor is shared with one of the other apartments.
You will be given a code to the front door as well as to your apartment. No keys to exchange (or lose.)
There is an on-site coin or app operated laundry facility.
This apartment is ideally for traveling professionals. In accordance with our agreement with the management company, upon booking we will also ask you for your ID, and to sign a Temporary Occupancy Agreement.
Must be able to climb stairs.
There is not a dishwasher in this apartment.
On street parking in the City of Salem requires a parking permit. We have one pass to give to you.
This is a safe neighborhood, close to everything. It is also a capital city; which means that an assortment of people are around. You may see and hear homeless people, loud cars, garbage trucks, trains, or overhead aircraft. We do offer earplugs for this reason.
Although we have never had a problem, it is recommended to lock your car doors, as well as the apartment doors.
The front porch has a Ring camera, which is directed only at the porch and the sidewalk. It is recording 24/7, but the footage is only looked at, in the event that there is a reason to- package theft, suspicious activity, etc. There are no cameras anywhere inside the building.
