Great house! Easy walk to town. Kids had fun running around on the huge lawn and cooking S’mores over the firepit. Travis is a wonderful host and was very responsive.
Totally enjoyed our stay! The big, well stocked kitchen was our main gathering place but we also experienced quite a bit of March Madness in the comfortable living room. Would stay here again!
Beautiful house and grounds. Nice to be able to walk to the shops in town, although it was raining during our stay. The beds were very comfy. I wish we could have stayed longer
Fantastic property with a super responsive host. The house is extremely well-appointed and well situated to take advantage of 3 nearby ski resorts. Will definitely look to stay here again in the future.
We had a wonderful stay at The Homestead! It is becoming a family tradition that our oldest son and daughter-in-law, who live in the area, host Thanksgiving and the rest of us make a long weekend of it. This house fit the bill for us in so many ways. Location of course, but also 3 good size bedrooms with very comfortable queen beds, a large and well equipped kitchen where we could easily have our other meals, and a family room with plenty of seats for all of us to relax, play games, and watch TV. Communication with the host and responsiveness to questions and needs was 100% excellent. We would happily make this our Thanksgiving home next year as well!
Have rented this property and others from this owner multiple times. The Homestead is roomie, with lots of light and a kitchen/living space that is so inviting to gather in. The bedrooms are roomy with extra linens and pillows and some amazing views. Ample parking and close proximity to many things. Very responsive hosts!
Up to date, spacious, warm home for our family of 5. Centrally located between 3 ski resorts. A wonderful way to spend our February break. We will be back 🙂
This is one of the cleanest properties I've ever stayed in. Usually there are some knick-knacks collecting dust, or areas in the house that look like they've been forgotten about-not here! And the property itself is really beautiful, with a gi-normous, expansive lawn and easily-usable fire pit, which was great for making s'mores. The highlight of the trip for me was probably the porches. One is screened-in and just offers amazing views of the property. The other is not screened in, but also offers amazing views, all with really comfortable seating! We had a great stay and would definitely come back. Thanks!
We loved this house.
The house was very accurately described in terms of location and setting. We rented for a week for some skiing in Stowe. It is a little out of the way around 25-30, but that is what we expected based on the property description. The town of Johnson, based on our February visit, seemed very small and quiet. Not much going on in terms of restaurants or activities beyond hiking, but that is exactly what we wanted. There is a really nice little grocery store within walking distance too.
The house itself was perfect. It's an old farm house, but newly renovated. The kitchen was beautiful, the home itself was very comfortable. It felt like you were borrowing a good friend's home rather than someone's rental property. Appliances were new, dishes, towels, linens, all were fresh and new or at least in nice condition. Lynda obviously takes pride in her home.
Lynda was also incredibly responsive. At the last minute we made a tweak to our reservation without a problem. Any question I had was answered within 24 hours.
We loved this place, and hope to stay again.
Great stay to enjoy what Vermont has to offer! Location is ideal for outdoor activites and exploring Stowe. Property manager was easy to work with and went above and beyond our expectations. We loved the fire pit and the view.

About the host
Your host
I (Travis) grew up in Johnson and love sharing it with the world! Our family still spends our summers in Vermont although we live in Charleston, South Carolina. We place a lot of value on being able to swim in clean rivers, eat locally grown/produced food, and have big spaces for our dog and kiddos to explore and enjoy. In the winter, we snowshoe, cross country ski, and sled.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property as it is adjacent to our first property and we loved its location on the hill overlooking the village. It has such a huge lawn that we can let our kiddos and dog run loose and enjoy a little space and freedom while we sip a micro brew or wine from the porch or fire pit.
What makes this property unique
We're big believers in the cook not being separated from the rest of the family or friends so we knocked down some walls and put in a huge butcher block island with enough seating for all guests. The fire pit outside is one of our favorite things about the property and the lawn is awesome.
