We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. The house was as described, clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The views were stunning. It was early in the season but the fishing was still good.Would definitely return.
The home was warm and welcoming. We had temperatures between 30 and 60 degrees and were always comfortable. There are many things to do in the area and we enjoyed hikes, restaurants and maple sugar farms.
The house is so cozy and has everything you need. We were there over a very cold weekend in February and we loved coming back to the house to sit by the fireplace.
Communication with host was great. The house was perfect for our needs for our ski trip. Fireplace was difficult to work and it would have been nice to have some more seating in the living room. Overall a very nice and clean house.
The lake Eden cottage is well kept and has everything that you need. It is a serene spot with water surrounding 3 sides. The cottage has numerous windows offering a great deal of light. It is located on a quiet road and the only traffic is from other residents. Communication with James was easy and he did get back to us in a timely basis. The only problem that we had was the comfort of the furniture. The main living area is rattan furniture with ill fitting cushions and an old futon with an old mattress. One bedroom is advertised as a queen and it looks to be more the size of a full bed. I do not wish to discredit the property, because it is a special place. I just feel that this should be mentioned giving you an awareness.

Hi, wow, so sorry you were dissatisfied with our furniture! Allow me to set the record straight. The bed in our master bedroom is, in fact, a queen. I know because I purchased it and have purchased linens many times for it. We have one (just one) rattan chair in the living room for which I recently purchased new cushions. Although the lower cushion doesn't fit perfectly, the chair is quite functional and comfy. The futon is, well, a futon. We supply many throw pillows for comfort. The futon always has a clean cover. Because we cater to pet owners, we don't throw large amounts of money at furnature. However our furnature is always clean, comfortable and functional.
Absolutely tremendous property and outstanding owners! This place has become a cornerstone of our winter travel plans, and we find ourselves looking forward to it all year.
This is a beautiful house and we enjoyed it perfectly for my wife’s 60th birthday. She wanted to go somewhere cold, with snow and this was the perfect place with the lake frozen over and covered with snow. We loved it so much!
This house was absolutely wonderful! We were here for our Mardi Gras break and to enjoy the snow. It was the perfect distance away from Stowe to not be in the middle of the touristy area but close enough to enjoy the town. We loved the ambiance of the fireplace and the cabinet full of games. Kitchen was full of many amenities to cook most meals. House was clean and cozy. It snowed while we were there and the driveway was even cleared quickly for us so we could safely get out.
This place is in the perfect setting if you want to get away from the crowds and relax. Nothing better than tight lines in a peacefull surrounding! We absolutely loved our time we spent here!

About the host
Hosted by Jim Dillon
Jim and Oonagh live in Williston, Vermont, one hour from the Eden lake house. We have one adult son.
Why they chose this property
This is our only vacation home. When purchased, it was a summer cottage built in the 1930s. We built an addition and winterized it for year-round use in 2003. Our goal was to maintain the rustic "camp" feel of the original cottage. We use it in the winter to ski at Jay Peak and in the summer for the lake. Lake Eden is very clean - great for swimming. It's a wonderful relaxing escape.
What makes this property unique
Great waterfront, clean lake, large platform dock, a real "On Golden Pond" kind of experience. A rustic Vermont "camp" feel with all the modern conveniences.
Great downhill and cross country skiing close by in winter. Jay Peak waterpark and skating rink are new attractions at Jay.
