About the host
Hosted by Rich & Jo
We live on Kent in the UK with our children, dog and two cats. Being in Kent means easy access to France, and an easy drive to La Maison Cavendish. It’s easier for us to get there than to drive to Cornwall or Wales! We love travelling throughout Europe, particularly France and Italy. We enjoy the food, the scenery and the culture, and exploring on our bikes.
Why they chose this property
We actually rented this house back in 2015. However, during a wet and miserable stay in Wales during lockdown, we were idly browsing the internet (on the barely functioning broadband!) to see what we could buy in France. And up popped this familiar place. We already knew we loved the house and the area, so put in an offer, and were lucky enough to be able to buy in early 2022. We’ve been enjoying redecorating and furnishing the house since.
What makes this property unique
This is a lovely house, with many original features and feels so very stereotypically ‘French’. The pool and large garden are great for relaxing. Being on the very edge of the village means both easy access (walking or cycling) to shops and restaurants, but also to the beautiful Creuse valley that inspired painters such as Monet over a hundred years ago. Despite being a small town, Argenton has a real buzz to it — especially compared to most of rural France that can appear deserted most of the time! We love it here, and hope you do too.
