About this property

A remote country cabin surrounded by Forests, Creeks, and near Cheaha & Pinhoti!

Need a place to unwind and relax? No other houses are in sight of the Waldo cabin. You can take a relaxing few days away from the crowds and worries of the world. Spend some time in the country for a few days and reconnect with family, friends and nature! There is no light pollution, so go outside and do some stargazing. I have a fire pit in the front yard for a cozy campfire and BYOM...bring your own marshmallows!

Triple Creek Farm is on the banks of Talladega Creek overlooking the historic Waldo Covered Bridge and old grist mill. Gold used to be mined in the local area and many modern day prospectors come from far and wide to pan Talladega Creek for gold. The farm is 20 acres of oaks, dogwoods, pines and wildflowers surrounded by the Talladega National Forest, with no neighbors in sight! It is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians at the base of Cheaha Mountain.

You may want to spend your days fishing or tubing the creek or exploring the incredible spring display of wildflowers such as trillium, wild geranium and red buckeye. Perhaps you would enjoy mountain biking the miles of Talladega National Forest roads or the Chief Ladiga Rail Trial near by. Love hiking and backpacking, the Pinhoti Trail, the longest trail in Alabama, is just 2 miles away. Maybe you are a road biker and want to climb from Waldo up to the highest point in Alabama, Mt Cheaha. You can ride your bike out of the Triple Creek Farm drive way and do this.

Just a few miles away is Majestic Caverns Park, where you can explore a deep underground cave, and spend the day enjoying their many family fun activities.

Waldo is just outside the Talladega city limits. Talladega is home to the historic Ritz Theater and the annual April in Talladega pilgrimage of homes. So much fun to choose from... but, perhaps you just look forward to relaxing on the big front screened porch watching birds. Go for a walk and watch the lazy creek roll by.

Many folks tell me of the nostalgia of the old train that passes by several times a day. And kids get excited to see it. If you are a light sleeper and not a fan of trains, I provide earplugs and sound machines in the bedrooms.

Then, of course, if you are a Nascar fan... Waldo is just down the road (about 20 miles) from the Talladega Superspeedway! Planning to come to Dega to drive a race car on the fastest track in all the land? After a fast paced day of racing, come stay in the country and relax!

There is a full kitchen, but if you'd rather not cook, hop in the car and run to Talladega, 6 miles or Oxford, 20 miles, for a selections of restaurants, shops and movie theaters.

Feel free to contact Maggie for more information. She spent over 20 years exploring the mountains on foot, by bike and on horseback! You will find maps of the area and lots of information on things to do, when you arrive at the cabin. Recent updates to bedroom furniture mean we have sleeping for 6 people.

Great place for a getaway! The GPS is a little off, but that’s the only negative about the stay.

A peaceful, serene, and relaxing stay surrounded by the beauty of nature. All the comforts of home in a charming throw-back cabin that evokes “good old days” of the simple pleasures of country living. The price is very reasonable, the hostess communicates in a pleasant friendly and timely manner, and the property exceeds its description and the clients’ expectations. If within 50 miles of this property I would not stay elsewhere if it was available. Exceptional in all regards!

A comfortable space and remote enough to feel like you are away from it all.I am a moth collector and I was able to to find a Regal, Imperial, Blinded Sphinx and a Prometheus to nameA few. We loved the occasional train passing by and great night sounds with owls and cicadas and frogs. We enjoyed our stay.Tad & Jodie….. Molokaislide.com

The Waldo Cabin was such a beautiful little sanctuary in the woods! The location provides a private little getaway, while still close to convenience of town. As well it is not far from the beautiful Majestic Caverns! The owner was super helpful with answering questions and providing information about the area. My family and I were on vacation during our stay but had a family member dealing with medical emergency and had to stay at Grandview Medical Center. The drive to Grandview was scenic and also convenient to get there within an hour. The creek at the property was a short little walk to get to and was an enjoyable little spot! The cabin itself was spacious and very homey, with the screened porch being the best place to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature's choir! Would rate the owner and the property at 10/10! We hope to visit it again!

My wife, my doggies and I really enjoyed our extended stay. Maggie was an excellent host, easy to communicate with, relaxed and easygoing. The place was in a beautiful spot in the world. Remote with lots of places to hike and enjoy nature. If you needed any supplies, talledaga was only 5 miles up the road with anything you need, very convenient. The house was nice and comfy with a cool cabin feel and everything you need. Would highly recommend if you like a tranquil experience.

We had a wonderful stay here! The host was extremely communicative, always making sure we had everything we needed, and was very quick to respond to any questions we had throughout our stay. The property itself was super cute, peaceful, and secluded which is exactly what we were looking for. The walking path down to the creek was well maintained and made it easy to explore. Our children and dogs absolutely loved swimming and wadding in the creek and all the little adventures that came with exploring it.We enjoyed the screened in back porch. It was perfect for having meals after grilling and also relaxing in the evenings while winding down from the day. The location was also convenient, only about a 25 minute ish drive to Talladega Speedway. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you.
