Rare True Ski-In Ski-Out Log Home. Located directly on the Headin' Home Ski Run! Whether you’re a skier, a mountain biker or a hiker you’ll love being so close to the slopes/trails. And the incredible views of Wheeler Peak (NM's highest mountain) and the Moreno Valley will take your breath away. In the evening, enjoy the twinkling lights of Angel Fire below or take in the night sky above. You'll love soaking in the brand new hot tub and taking in the mountain views. This Custom saltwater cypress cabin is loaded with charm and features 2 ensuite bedrooms, a bunkroom, a loft sleeping area, an entertainment room with pull out sofa bed and a great room with panoramic views.
Enter through the mud/gear room on the lowest level. There's plenty of room for your skis, bikes, boots, etc. From there you enter the entertainment room complete with a kitchenette with mini fridge and sink. There's a pull out couch that sleeps 2. This level also has a full bathroom and a bunkroom that sleeps 6 (2 sets of twin over full bunks). A full size washer and dryer are located on this level for your convenience.
Upstairs is the great room with soaring ceilings and a wall of windows with breathtaking views. Enjoy the real mountain cabin feel! The living area features a 65" Smart TV where you can stream your favorite movies or shows. The great room also includes a dining area and a large kitchen - all with lots of natural light. There's a bedroom with ensuite bath on this level. The bedroom has a king bed and a full size futon and has big mountain views. A guest half bath is located on this floor, too.
Head upstairs to another ensuite bedroom. This large room has a king bed and a full bath with both a walk-in shower and a jetted tub. There's a Juliet balcony with views of the Headin' Home ski run. This master bedroom opens up to the loft sleeping area with twin day/trundle bed and a full futon (the loft sleeps up to 4).
High speed fiber optic Internet allows you to keep in touch with the outside world or stream your favorite shows.
TRUE Ski-In Ski-Out: Walk up a short distance (photo with wooden steps) from the house and you're on Headin' Home ski run (a green ski run). Turn left and ski all the way down the mountain and pick up the Chile Express hi-speed quad chairlift coming back up the mountain. Coming off the lift at the top, ski down, staying on Headin' Home Ski Run. Look for the BIG BEAR CABIN sign on the left side of the ski run. Take the very short path to the house. Leave your skis on the ski rack and walk indoors. There are very few Angel Fire homes located this close to a ski run.
A new hot tub was installed on the deck in the fall of 2022.
We recommend that anyone coming to the mountains in winter have a 4WD or AWD vehicle. The driveway will be plowed whenever we get 4 inches or more of snow.
This home is located high above Angel Fire, right on the ski/bike mountain at an elevation of 9,900 feet. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the incredible mountain views.

Everything about this stay was amazing, the cabin is beautiful and the location was perfect for our family especially since it was ski in/out, it makes everything so much easier during vacation! The hot tub was great after a day on the slopes, and we had deer visit us every morning during our stay. Barb was easy to communicate with and covered all details. Overall, a great vacation and we definitely will be back!!

The property has a nice view , has a nice hot tub, our group was small but the lodge could comfortably accommodate many, if you were there to ski it is a short walk to the slopes. We enjoyed our stay.

Ski trip

The location is great and the house functioned for what we needed. We were just very surprised at how dirty the house was. Also factor in that it’s a log house so you will deal with bugs in the house, beds and towels.

Ski in/out was worth it

Loved being able to eat lunch at the cabin and for people to break/stop skiing whenever they wanted. Would definitely recommend 4x4 during the winter. Cabin is not extravagant, but is a very nice cabin and I would stay there again in the future without hesitation.

Good location for skiing

There was not much snow but great location for people that did ski. It was a little far of a drive to town and would not have been able to make it as much as we did with snow. The furniture was in horrible condition and the house was very dusty and unclean.

Had a great time at this property. Plenty of space and right off of heading home. You will absolutely need 4WD or AWD to access the property. Google maps tried to take us up the ski run, but fortunately Barb gave us detailed directions beforehand and we found the property with no issues. Would definitely recommend!

A beautiful house with a great view. We could see the New Years fireworks from the balcony. Ski run just a short way up the hill next to the house. Hot tub was great you just have to make sure it is not sleeping. Kids loved the children's Trivia game.

It was good. The manager was excellent. Main issue was the heat. Heat was not good till 4th day. Finally on Saturday afternoon, the heat was set at 65, all through the house.

The house was stocked with all the necessities and then some! Very spacious. Nice.

Renting was simple process. They provided all the information we needed. They responded to every text/call before and during our visit. The house was great! We will definitely want to stay there when we go back. The only suggestion I have would be to consider upgrading mattresses next time you replace them. The beds were OK but compared to the rest of the furnishings; they were less favorable.

Mountain Retreat in the Summer

We had a great time in Angel Fire at this cabin. We were blown away that the property was actually next to a ski run. This would be an incredible property to stay in during ski season. The porch had an incredible view of the mountains and town. We had a few mishaps with a loose screw on a shower shelf and a marble side table that had been broken and attempted to be fixed. Check out at 9 am is a hard feat with cleaning and packing & looking for a lost wedding ring. :( All in all, we had a wonderful stay. This vacation was just what we needed to rejuvenate.

Family Vaction

The heaters/thermostat's didn’t work and Barb and her husband were very easy to talk with and helped. The master commode was loose and made loud noises people underneath could hear this throughout night. Dishwasher doesn’t get the dishes clean. Master bed was uncomfortable. The walls are thin and can hear everything . Master bed lamps were very small. Had to put card board under bed table in master to keep it from rocking. Dining room chairs had no cushions and you’re sitting on plywood seats.

Step out of the house, walk over to the wooden steps that will take you right to the Headin' Home Ski Run! No driving or parking at the base of the mountain and taking a shuttle to the ski lifts. Just ski from the house to the lifts. And this mountain home has a hot tub, too!
