About this property

Secluded Log Cabin on Private Lake in La Grange

You know that feeling when you enter your grandmother's house and you are automatically and infinitely loved just as you are? We hope you find this at our cute log cabin, tucked away in the pines of La Grange, TX.
This little gem has many of the comfy touches that any grandmother's house would have like avocado green counters and an oven to match, a "Kids Only" Game Room and that type of marbley carpet that almost everyone can remember when they were a kid.

Rustic cabin
The cabin is cozy but old and rustic. Good size for our small family. Shame that there isn’t a dock to fish off, or a kayak, or seats to sit by the lake and enjoy the view. Lots of critters. Handy to La Grange and Round Top.

Getaway
It was a great weekend for a getaway. The house was comfortable but there were a lot of dead roaches due to a recent extermination. I think the house should have been checked prior to our arrival and cleaned them up. A few live ones popped up during our stay. The outside needs a little TLC. The deck over lake and handrails on stairs need repairs. We enjoyed hanging in the house and shopping and eating in Round Rock and LaGrange. Thank YOu

Why they chose this property

We like things peaceful, comfortable, kitschy and fun at Gran's Getaway! Situated on a man-made lake, this sweet log cabin can fit up to a family of six, fishermen, fisherwomen, fisherkids, a small family reunion, antique shoppers, couples' and friends' weekends! And if you want the whole house to yourself, go on with your bad self!

The backyard is magical. Walking down the steps of the back porch leads you to a sweet path down to the water's edge. You can enjoy the old wooden pier (Gran says, "use at your own risk" and we agree) for fishing, coffee/tea sipping, reading, or just staring out at the water, listening to the birds and bugs.

There's plenty of parking too! Gran likes her little spot right by the front door and she said she's willing to share with the guests. Two cars can park in front of the house and one car can park in front of the garage. Even a trailer can fit in the side yard but a few posts and cinder blocks will have to be moved. Gran can't help with that. She just let's the youngsters do that. Just remember to put everything back the way it was or Gran will get the flyswatter!

What makes this property unique

The master bedroom and ensuite is separated from the other two rooms by the kitchen and living room. It has a screened-in porch accessible through its own sliding glass door. The bay window is also pretty fun to sit and stare at the lake from the master bedroom.

The Kids Only Game Room comes packed with a child-sized arcade that has pre-loaded PacMan and Galaga games, board games in the closet and a pre-loaded Nintendo with all the classics at your fingertips. Of course, Gran doesn't always spend money on new technology with the TVs she has that "work just fine" so we have an old school TV for the kids. They can still play their games can't they?? (We're still trying to convince Gran that its a good idea to get a flat screen for the Game Room. We'll get back to you on that!)

The third bedroom comes equipped with a Queen four poster bed, white rocking chair and pink nightstand. Again, Gran's attitude overruled our requests of buying a flatscreen for this room as well.

The guest bathroom is right at the end of the long hallway and closest to The Girls' Room. Its equipped with a full sized tub and decorated with one of Gran's favorite themes: Seashells. (You'll even find that Gran couldn't resist hot gluing some seashells on the headboard in The Girls' Room.)

The great room is where most of the adult grandchildren like to spend their time. The oversized leather living room furniture is super comfortable with room to spread out in front of the 50" Roku TV (Gran gave into our demands of something that streamed all of our favorites) and gas log fireplace.

When the weather is nice, lots of us like to go outside on the porch and watch the fish and frogs splash in the quiet lake in the backyard. One of our favorite things about this porch is that it has two sides. One is accessible from the living room area and the screened-in side is accessible from the master bedroom sliding glass door. Gran got fancy!
