About this property
Just a short walk to shops, restaurants, and the town dock.
The Mackerel Sky Suites are located on the edge of downtown Boothbay Harbor. Sidewalks will lead you to the center of our small town filled with shops and restaurants. The Boothbay Opera House, art galleries, the public library, and the town park are close by. The waterfront with all its boating options is just two blocks away. Set sail on a windjammer, take a scenic boat ride out to see puffins on Eastern Egg Rock, or catch the ferry out to Monhegan or Squirrel Island. Public trails offered by the Boothbay Region Land Trust, the town owned Barrett's Park, and our winding coastal roads will provide many opportunities to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the area. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is 3.6 miles away. The Department of Marine Resources Aquarium is 2.6.
Wood floors, white walls, local artwork, and a clean uncluttered decorating style create a welcoming and relaxing space. Smart TVs have streaming options like Hulu, Netflix, and Prime. Ceiling fans are located in the living space and the bedrooms. Heat pumps provide central heat and air.
Decorated in the relaxing and tranquil colors of the sea, this spacious one bedroom rental has everything you need for a weekend getaway or an extended stay. Bed linens are from Brooklinen, “Cool and crisp, our Classic Percale Sheets feature a breathable 270 thread count weave for that timeless, hotel-style luxury. Perfect for hot sleepers, these sheets will help you stay cool all night long. Made with 100% long-staple cotton, you’ll feel like you’re snuggling up in luxury every single night.” Cotton blankets and LL Bean comforters are supplied for the colder months. Just right pillows are essential for a good night’s sleep, which is why we use pillows from Casper. Their “pillow in a pillow” construction makes it easy for you to adjust the loft of your pillow. Casper pillows have a down alternative stuffing making them light and airy. A brushed chrome ceiling fan with clear glass globes helps to circulate cool air in the summer and heat in the winter. Table lamps on either side of the bed are provided for evening reading.
Just off the bedroom is a full sized bathroom. The vanity has a large mirror with sconces on either side for shaving and applying makeup. The shower has a glass door and fiberglass shower unit. A small separate section of the bathroom has a flush and small window. Bathrooms are supplied with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. Bath towels, washcloths, hand towels and a bath mat are provided.
The kitchen has everything you need including a dishwasher, refrigerator, range, microwave, and double bay sink. The refrigerator includes an ice maker. Appliances include a hand mixer, toaster, and coffee maker. Additional comforts include a coffee station stocked with local coffee beans, a coffee grinder, and a selection of tea and hot chocolate. We also provide a selection of snacks to tide you over until your next meal. Visit our Thursday farmer’s market to stock your fridge with local produce, cheeses, meats, breads, and pastries. The cupboards are stocked with pots and pans and baking dishes as well as serving dishes and utensils.
The utility room has an additional table that can be used as a desk or project area. There is also a washer and dryer. There is room here to store luggage and additional items.
The living area includes a queen sized futon, a wing back chair and an electric recliner. This unit has central AC, and a 46" smart TV. There are two bookshelves with games and books. Just off the living room is an enclosed porch/mud room which provides a great place to sit and look at the gardens or watch the nesting chickadees. If you prefer, there is a small grassy area with seating for two adjacent to the gardens.
Parking for one car is included. Maximum capacity is two people.

About the host
Hosted by Deanne Tibbetts
The Tibbetts family has lived in the Boothbay Region since the 1700s. Generation after generation have worked as fishermen and boatbuilders.
Why they chose this property
Boothbay Harbor is a great place to raise a family. During the busy summer season we have all the benefits of larger cities with festivals, art shows, and concerts. In the off season we return to a tightly knit community of families who attend weekend sporting events, church services, and participate in local fundraising events.
What makes this property unique
“Mackerel scales and mare’s tails ships fly high sails” is an old fisherman’s saying that refers to the weather and fishing conditions. Generations of fishermen have called Boothbay Harbor home and that heritage is what makes this town unique. When you book a vacation rental with Mackerel Sky Rentals, you are not only getting a great place to stay but you are supporting a local fishing family and helping to continue a way of life that is becoming more and more difficult to sustain.
Boothbay Harbor is a popular destination in the summer months but consider a visit during the quieter fall, winter, and spring seasons to experience what life is really like in a small coastal town. Go to the Thistle on Friday night for their standing room only happy hour. Have dinner at the Bistro and enjoy some of the best fried haddock anywhere. Watch trick-or-treaters parade down Townsend Ave at Halloween. Wear your pajamas to the early bird sale always held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Kick off the holiday season with the Harbor Lights celebration the first weekend in December. In the coldest winter months you can peruse the latest best sellers at Sherman's, catch a movie at the Harbor Theater, or take a winter walk along our quiet coastal roads. Spring brings local road races and lady slippers at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Come and enjoy the quieter side of the Boothbay Harbor Region!
