Your host runs Bark Point Ventures, a vacation rental management & concierge company that specializes in properties on Lake Superior's South Shore. She lives nearby and is available 24/7 to assist her guests. Our passion is ensuring guests experience the magic of what we feel is one of the most amazing places in the world.
The South Shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feels like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities around here, as well as local arts, plus places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor adventure, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.

The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 35 minutes away, as is Washburn (where you’ll find the largest grocery store in the area). Ashland is about 45 minutes away, with a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and a wider range of shops). Superior & Duluth are an hour and a bit away.
The interior of the home is anchored by the great room that has soaring two-story ceilings, wood fireplace, ample comfy seating, and our favorite feature: Teddy, the bison. The great room flows right into the open-plan kitchen & dining room. The kitchen is a chef’s dream with gas stove, huge kitchen island (with its own prep sink), tons of counter & cabinet space, and all the equipment you need to feed the whole gang.

Right off the great room & dining area is the deck & screen porch which face the lake, giving you incredible views of the ever-changing waters.

The downstairs is rounded out by the main bedroom with en suite bath & a private set of doors out to the screen porch & an office.

Upstairs you’ll find two more bedrooms which share a Jack & Jill bathroom as well as amazing lake views. Our favorite spot in the house is the upstairs lounge - it has two seating areas, game table, and a treadmill (for those of you wanting to stay indoors in the winter yet still get your cardio done).

Bark Point Lodge is the perfect spot for a romantic get-away or an extended family gathering. The entire home is furnished with your comfort & convenience in mind: cozy throws, over-stuffed throw pillows, comfy furniture in every room, fully-stocked kitchen, and even a beverage cart on the screen porch! We want you to immediately forget about the realities of day-to-day life the minute you drive onto the property and enjoy the comfort, beauty, and peace this very special property has to offer.

The exterior of the home features a spacious yard for outdoor games, lounging, or just sitting on the deck and enjoying a favorite beverage while enjoying the amazing views and lake breezes. And if you’re lucky, you’ll have a visit paid by the eagles who live nearby!
Due to the lack of public transportation and the distance between towns/amenities, a car is pretty much essential. But, on the plus side, traffic is not a concept we have up here!

Late March Blizzard
The home is stunning and very comfortable. If you're coming up when there is a lot of snow, it may be wise to have 4 WD as Bark Point rd is long and was not plowed frequently during the snow-event. The tap water is cloudy. It tasted fine. I think this may be the norm for well water near the lake. Brink paper and kindling wood if you want a fire. There was plenty of cut wood, just no kindling. These are all mild issues. Our stay was fantastic!

We loved our stay and didn’t want to leave. The property and lake views are amazing and the home is cozy and relaxing. Erin is great to work with and I have happily rented from her for the last two years and plan to again next year when we visit the area again!
