Desert Lake Cottage: Lake fun and desert adventuring
About this space Cozy cottage nestled in a special lakeside neighborhood. Escape the city hustle & bustle for some small-town vibes! Look at the stars, play in the water, explore the desert. This little piece of paradise has so much to offer!
-Private backyard space with hot tub, firepit, BBQ & cornhole
-Lake is awesome for boating (Apr-Sept) as well as paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, etc.
-Perfect location for all Great Basin attractions (U-Dig Fossils, Topaz Mtn, Notch Peak, Little Sahara, ATV rides) The space Having been recently remodeled, the cabinets, appliances, and most of the furniture are all brand new. The space has a trendy modern feel with a cozy beach twist!
-Two lakeside parks with grass areas, beaches, and boat ramps. The cottage is not shoreline, but it is only 1/4 mile from each park
****PLEASE READ!! As of right now (06/09/21), the landscaping and deck are still ongoing. We do have a firepit and firewood as well as a bbq grill and grilling utensils out back. The yard offers an excellent camping-style experience at this point! Guest access All of the land between the cabin and the road to the north can be used for parking.
The two neighborhood parks, which consist of nice lawn, shade trees, boat ramps and beach, are only available to residents of the Sherwood Shores neighborhood. This restricted access keeps them much more private than the Main Beach, which is open to the public and can be found across the water to the west.

Very clean & comfortable. A little difficult to go up & down the stairs at night without handrails on the stairs. However, very pleased with the easy access to the property.
There were a few little questions that we had and the host was so quick to respond and handle. The place felt like a cute little chalet. The downstairs has more than enough room to accommodate your crew.
The property was amazing! It was mine and my partners first get away and it definitely over exceeded our expectations. Definitely recommend going again
This cottage was perfect for my 2 nieces and me. It was clean, quiet and perfectly located for our visits to U-Dig Fossils, Topaz Mountain and other rockhounding sites.
Our family came to the area because we love rockhounding and this area doesn’t disappoint. We chose this cottage for its location as it is close to lots of different areas to find cool rocks and fossils. The cottage was just as described. The backyard is a real oasis after long trips driving on tough roads. We enjoyed the fire pit by making s’mores and watching the Draco meteor shower. We are leaving here with tons of cool rocks but even more amazing family memories. Thank you again Ryan for your hospitality.

Not the Experience We Expected
We left a day early due to several issues. The downstairs AC was so loud we couldn’t hear the TV; when we contacted the owner, they said they were aware and planned to fix it between guests. The upstairs bedroom had dead gnats blowing from the ac vent onto the bed, making it unusable. Secondary sleeping options didn’t work for my CPAP setup. Outside, flies swarmed whenever we opened the back door, so we couldn’t enjoy the grill or hot tub. Owner mentioned a “camp-like experience” in the listing, but for the price, we weren’t expecting to camp.

Very cozy, but comfortable place. We did not stay at a time where we could take advatage of the lake, but it looked like a lot of fun. It worked extremely well for our planned trilobite dig. Two recommendations: 1.The kitchen needs a sponge - scrubber to wash the pots and pans. 2. The twin beds upstairs are not for adults; they are junior beds. Need to put that in the description.

Very cute property with a great location within walking distance to 2 lakes, easy access to U-Dig Fossils. Had trouble accessing the property because VRBO wouldn't connect. The toilet paper roller is placed so you have to bend backwards - also troublesome was the steep staircase with no railing. The internet went out several times but had to restart the router. MANY accessories.

Cute, Great Location, Needs Cleaning
The layout is cute, it's well decorated, has a fun backyard and is in a great location to take advantage of area attractions. U-Dig and Topaz Dome Quarry were AMAZING and each only 1 hour away from the cottage!
Unfortunately, the cottage itself suffers from a lack of care. One reason we chose this was it's 9.8 cleanliness rating. Surprisingly, we found the cottage to be unacceptably filthy, including:
-dirty floors (Even dog footprints all over and we didn't bring a dog. Large dust clumps under primary bed.)
-freezer in desperate need of defrosting & cleaning
-filthy oven & stove with caked-on burnt food, grease, and tin liners full of spills
-dish drainer on counter molded on the bottom & towels with dirt marks and foul smell left hanging
-washing machine with hair balls, lint chunks and dirt around door housing
-Spiders! After killing 4 spiders inside the house, including a particularly large one inside the dish cabinet, we decided to cut our vacation short.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the 2 beds upstairs are small twin beds, not doubles. The stairs are narrow and steep for anyone with mobility issues. The two neighborhood parks are nice grassy spaces and do provide lake access, but don't have the "beaches" you may expect. Public beaches were rocks and reeds at the time we were there. Some of the privately-owned properties have lovely sand beaches.
Manager was courteous and responsive. He welcomed our feedback and said he would address issues with cleaners.

Again, I apologize for the cleanliness of the cottage, this has never been an issue and will be addressed. Thank you for your courteous critique. Safe travels!
