From original reservation to check in the communication was great. Place was clean and exceeded expectations. Will stay here again and recommend to others.
Mary's little guesthouse was perfect for us! It had everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed and lovely shower, as well as being cheerful and roomy. It was tucked into the back of the property, which provided quiet and privacy.
The property is beautiful and quiet with lots of thoughtful little touches to make your stay comfortable and very clean. Lots of places to plug in devices. Beautiful decorations. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed. I was visiting relatives nearby for Christmas and needed a place to stay. There are restaurants and a grocery store and Starbucks within walking distance if needed.
Mary and Jerome provided the best in accommodations, service and hospitality. Special bonus was the great meal Mary prepared for our family of seven. We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, easy access to activities of hiking going to the beach or just sitting and reading. Would recommend to anyone looking to relax and enjoy some peace.
This is by far the best VBRO we have stayed. The neighborhood was quiet. We enjoyed sitting in outside garden. The amenities and decor was fantastic. The kitchen was well equipped. Mary was very friendly was accommodating. If I visit San Diego again. I will definitely stay here again
The property was amazing. Very clean, updated. The owner was such a gracious host. The aromas of her fruit trees and garden was a wonderful surprise. Very quiet neighborhood, lots of morning calls from a variety of birds each day. The entire back patio was all ours which was a nice surprise. Would definitely stay again.
What a fantastic place! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The guest house was very clean and well-appointed. The neighborhood is quiet and the home feels secluded. Mary has done a great job decorating the space to make it feel cozy and inviting. We loved getting up every morning, sitting outside drinking our morning coffee on our own garden patio listening to the trickling fountain and keeping warm by the fire pit. Wish we could have stayed longer, and will certainly stay here again!
To start it off, I think that the little guest house is Wonderful and Very Very Clean. The pictures do it justice, however, when you walk into the place it SPARKLES. My Wife and I could not ask for a better place to stay. The Location was Excelent and close to the highway, shopping and most of all, really close to where our Son and Family live. Again, could not ask for a better place to stay. Very quite. The Hosts are very pleasant and fun to talk with.
We visited San Diego to visit family and friends. We chose this location because we are familiar with the area. It is easy access to the freeway, yet in a quiet neighborhood. You can get around San Diego easily from the property. It had everything you would need for a few days, or of a couple of months. We were amazed at how complete the kitchen was. And, the patio was wonderful to sit outside in a secluded setting and have coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine in the evening. This will now be our go to place when we visit SD.
Spent 2 weeks in this beautiful, immaculate home. Decor was exceptional. Kitchen and bath were stocked with anything and everything a visitor might need or want. Jerome was very nice and did not intrude on our privacy. His wife, Mary, was away so we could not taste her traditional Indian cuisine. As a senior who is somewhat disabled, I could not get into the bed. Purchased a 2 step stool and had no issues after that. The walkway to the home entrance is about 75-100 feet from the parking spot and all downhill. Somewhat difficult negotiating with a wheelchair. Overall, a great home away from home!
We stayed at Mary’s house for almost 3 weeks during which we needed to work remotely. From the moment you set foot in this property, you know you have made a great choice. The house is spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you need. The kitchen has every appliance (in a pretty matching blue), and lots of spices, so cooking like we were at home was easy. The location is peaceful and quiet with a very comfortable bed and plenty of towels/ linens.
We were able to work easily using the fast internet connection and take meetings knowing that we were not disturbing anyone because the house is a separate structure.
The included parking spot out front was a bonus and very convenient.
It is obvious that a lot of thought and care has gone into making this rental comfortable and special, and we really appreciated Mary’s hospitality. We unreservedly recommend this location to anyone and would definitely return here again.
Thank you Mary!!
What a find! My wife and I stayed here while visiting friends nearby in Spring Valley. It is also convenient to the highway and only about 20 minutes from downtown San Diego and all the attractions. The guesthouse is located in a nice quiet neighborhood behind the owners' house, with plenty of privacy. It looks like it was recently remodeled -- everything is clean, fresh, and up to date. The kitchen is efficiently laid out, with an island and all the cooking equipment you would need. There is even a fully stocked spice rack. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom features a large walk-in shower. The hosts were very friendly and attentive. Mary messaged us to make sure we arrived safely and was very responsive to our questions. We met Jerome outside the house one morning and had a delightful conversation. We look forward to staying again the next time we are in San Diego to visit our friends. Highly recommended!
My wife and I spent two weeks enjoying the best rental we’ve ever stayed in. One of the nicest things about the property is that it has easy access to freeways, without being so close as to hear traffic.
Clean, quiet, perfectly sized for two inside and lots of room outside (covered patio with a grill, fire pit and table for four).
Fully furnished kitchen. Lots of appliances, all top notch (for example, four burner stove with two ovens). Large refrigerator. High end dishwasher. Plenty of spices and other basics that most rentals don’t have. Sharp knives! All perfect for us, as we like to cook.
Climate control: heat pumps, with an outlet in the living room and one in the bedroom. TV in the living room and in the bedroom, with a queen bed that the head raises up to watch TV.
Perfectly laid out bathroom with a large walk-in shower.
Orange and lemon trees, with available fruit should you need it.
The rental is behind the owner’s home; if you are concerned about that, don’t fear. The owners are extremely friendly, and even more respectful of your space.
We can’t wait to return.
We’re really looking forward to a return visit
My husband and I spent 8 nights at this incredible cottage (Feb 28 - March 7, 2024). I cannot possibly adequately describe how impressed we were!
Communication prior to booking, after booking, and during our stay was quick and helpful.
Check-in and check-out processes were seamless.
Jerome and Mary are wonderful hosts - very kind and thoughtful. It’s obvious that their one goal is to ensure their guests are comfortable.
The cottage is a recently converted garage at the back of their large property - but it is completely separate and private. The hosts are present in their home - with two wonderful dogs - but you would never know that they are there. We didn’t know there were dogs until we happened to see one on their front deck - NO barking!
The cottage is beautiful. There is absolutely nothing they have not thought of - furnishings, appliances, dishes, linens, decor, bathroom fixtures, and kitchen decor are all high quality. There are even clean reusable shopping bags!
If you forgot something - there’s a good chance you will find a replacement at the cottage.
Location is very quiet residential. Dedicated parking in front.
Everything is completely spotless.
I am extremely fussy - and we have stayed at many rental properties.
This one is by far the very best.
We left with a bag of lemons and
oranges - freshly picked for us by Jerome from the trees in the yard. Exceedingly highly recommend!
The hosts at this property go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Jerome met me on my arrival and showed me to the house which is in a very private spot at the back of the property. Mary even made us a home-cooked meal of delicious Indian food (delivery by Jerome)! The house was very clean and beautifully furnished. There was a patio with comfy chairs and a fire pit. The kitchen had every small appliance you could possibly need and was very well stocked with spices and cooking tools. The adjustable bed was incredibly comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and there was a shopping area with several good restaurants just a 15 minute walk away (about three minutes by car). It also had super easy access to CA-94 to get to the downtown area, airport, beaches, and the San Diego Zoo (about 20 minutes). I highly recommend a stay here!
