The condo is spacious and overlooks the beach. Master bedroom with king size bed, balcony overlooking the beach, one bathroom, the condo is equipped with CD player, DVD/VCR (to watch videos – no cable), air-conditioning in bedroom, linens included, wonderful beach view, fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. Extras: Daily maid service, free purified water provided, hammock, beach chairs and towels, swimming pool and restaurant on site. (Free WIFI in the condo)

The Riviera Maya is without doubt the most important tourist destination in Mexico: its diversity of attractions, the mysticism of the Maya culture, beaches and jungles as well as the exceptional quality of its services have made it a favorite for world travelers. The Riviera Maya is synonymous with paradise, and that's where we invite you to discover its best kept secret: Akumal. (Ocean Magazine).

Akumal, Place of Turtles in Mayan, is located in the heart of the Riviera Maya, just 37 km south of Playa del Carmen and 27 km north of Tulum.

Things to do:
Akumal is a water-lovers' paradise on the beach in front of the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. Akumal itself is a small but thriving beach community situated on 2 beautiful bays - our condo is on the Half Moon bay which is picturesque, quiet and romantic. You can spend a whole vacation right on Half Moon bay without leaving the area, with a beautiful beach and wonderful little restaurants in walking distance. Akumal has its own small supermarkets, boutiques and several dive shops, one of them just a short walk from Hacienda de la Tortuga, and water sports facilities. Right in the area of Akumal is great snorkeling, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing.
The condo is in walking distance of Yalku Lagoon which is a natural lagoon formation with crystal clear water -- a unique swimming and snorkeling experience. Several world famous Riviera Maya attractions are close by including the Xel Ha (15 minutes ) and Xcaret adventure parks, the towns of Playa del Carmen (1/2 hr), Tulum and Puerto Aventuras (20 min) and of course the renowned Maya archeological sites of Tulum (20 min), Coba (1 hour) and Chichen Itza (2 hrs)- plus many more Maya attractions are close by.
Akumal in the Mayan language means ‘The Place of the Turtles” - sea turtles can be seen year round and their nesting season starts in May, during the months of July and August you can observe turtles nesting and baby turtles hatching. Nightly 'turtle walks' are available and can be arranged with the Akumal Ecological Center.
Akumal has several shops for water-sports including open water diving, cenote/cavern diving (for which the area is world famous), snorkeling/catamaran trips, fishing and more. They all rent equipment and all have certified guides.
Bicycles and golf carts are available for rental. Yoga classes and Spa services are available in the main beach area (1/2 mile from Hacienda de la Tortuga).

For special occasions (such as your honeymoon) we do offer a package that includes chilled Champagne (Prosecco), Flowers and fresh fruit in your suite ready upon your arrival. (Surcharge is 600 pesos (which approx $50) – please email to order).

How to get around:
Akumal is a small relaxed beach community, a car is nice to go out to our many nearby activities but not necessary if you just want to kick back and explore Akumal. In that case there are bikes for rent (approx $5 per day) or golf carts (about $40 per day).

How to get there:
Guests should fly in to Cancun International Airport which is approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes from Akumal by modern highway. The most popular methods of reaching Akumal are rental car, private airport shuttle or taxi. Public Bus transport is also available.

The view from this condo is absolutely beautiful!! And the cleanliness was outstanding! Unfortunately, storms have caused serious beach erosion so there really was no beach & the sargassum was so bad that you couldnt swim for several days. However, there are several cenotes nearby to swim in. We did have problems with the internet, which seemed better after the technician showed up. Unfortunately, the property manager was not all that helpful, & some of the condo owners seemed off put by "Renters" which was unfortunate. The restaurant downstairs was excellent as was La Buena Vida. This is a very small, safe town & the locals are lovely. Breakfast across the street was great, but the cinnamon rolls at Que Onda Deli, just up the road, were to die for! We really enjoyed walking around the town & made time to visit the ruins in Tulum. The breeze theough Cherri's condo was awesome & the A/C in the bedroom worked great. We don't mind stairs, but this unit is on the 3rd floor, so if stairs are a problem, you may need to look elsewhere. The kitchen was well equipped & the rust on the stove is a testament to what life is like when you live in a tropical paradise!! When the wind changed & the sargassum somewhat subsided, the little bay was BEAUTIFUL & we played in the water as much as possibke!! Enjoy!

Lovely condo, fabulous view and safe environment

This is a lovely, well-equipped condo. We never tired of sitting on the balcony watching and listening to the waves right below us. Everything is extremely accessible and we enjoyed walking the beach road. Two highlights: snorkelling with the turtles and lunch at Buena Vista.

Wonderful hideaway on quaint Half Moon Bay

Just a long weekend for relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, eating delicious food, and taking some walks. The location on Half Moon Bay is perfect for easy access to the snorkeling in the bay where we say sting ray, cuttlefish, skate, turtles, and tens of thousands of colorful fish in and around the reef. Seaweed was a bit gross along the water edge, but no smell because of how they treat it. La Lunita restaurant, located at our building, was delightful and delicious. Everyone is so friendly. Owner communication was fantastic and accurate. We will be back again!

Wish I could have stayed forever!

This was my favorite lodging of the entire trip! Everything was clean and comfortable. They changed our water bottle before it even ran low and we loved the restaurant in the building. In fact, we dined there every lunch and supper during our stay. The view was spectacular as were the local activities. We will be back.

Relax on a quiet, beautiful bay

The condo is located in a quiet, well-maintained neighbourhood. We enjoyed the beach view, ocean breezes, and plenty of snorkeling. La Hacienda was clean and the staff were helpful. The kitchen was well equipped, however was not stocked with any staples (coffee, tea, sugar, spices). There are a couple mini-markets nearby, as mentioned, that had milk & eggs but no fresh produce.Local favourites for us were the breakfast café across the street and the beach bar 5 minutes south. Be sure to go snorkeling in the Yalku lagoon as well (smaller south entrance).Cherri offered good info in advance. Highly recommended if you want to experience the Yucatan riviera without the crowds & noise.

The sound of the waves

This is a lovely little home for a single traveller. The kitchen had everything you could need and the welcome gift of coffee, milk and soft drinks was such a nice touch. Windows through the living room and bedroom allow such a beautiful breeze that with the help of ceiling fans I hardly used the AC. Best of all is the wonderful view and sounds of the water! Love it❤️

Beautiful condo overlooking a lovely beach

The condo is everything promised! My husband and I stayed for five very comfortable nights. Despite the nice breeze coming in from the ocean, the air con in the bedroom was welcome during the warm nights. The kitchen is well equipped. Akumal Beach was a great place to explore (the manager can arrange for bicycle rentals) and with a car it is convenient to other interesting activities such as cenotes, the Tulum ruins and various adventure parks. We had a fabulous time!

Perfectly situated on the Akumal coast for the best views and snorkel. Well maintained full apartment with everything you need. Daily full cleaning service with friendly staff. Great food and fantastic drinks at the on site restaurant with indoor and out door seating. Clean pool. The king size bed in apartment 9 gave me the best night’s sleep I ever had! Breakfast café/bakery right across the street is over the top with quality and selection. Full kitchen in the apartment when wanting to stay in. Visit the pueblo across the highway for fresh fruit and authentic local cuisine. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

Right on the BEACH!

We loved our stay at Cherri's 1 bdrm condo on Half Moon Bay. It was exactly as described in her listing. The propery manager was super helpful and Teresa our housekeeper was excellent in keeping our condo in perfect order. We especially loved being right over the beach with a perfect view of the bay and hearing the relaxing sound of the waves coming in. There was everything we needed in the well stocked kitchen and it was a great location about mid-point within the bay so it was easy to get to restraunts. La Lunita is just downstairs and they offer an excellent menu for lunch & dinner. Cherri provided contact info for an excellent transportation service from the CUN airport which we also booked for our return trip back. I would recommend looking into renting a golf cart to make it even easier to get around Akumal if you don't want to walk or rent a bicycle. There are a couple of golf cart rental services to choose from. Overall, I highly recommend this property!

Perfect Location, Perfect place to RELAX!

If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet getaway, this is the place. This condo has the best views from the spacious balcony, even a great hammock for snoozing or reading. The condo is a perfect size, the kitchen is well equipped with all that you would need. There is AC in the bedroom, but it was nice enough at night that you could leave the doors open and listen to the waves on the beach. 2 small convenience stores nearby and I believe another one will be opening soon. Great restaurant downstairs, La Lunita serves excellent food and La Buena Vida is a short walk on the beach or street. Yal Ku Lagoon is very close by, about a 5 min walk. Golf carts or bicycles to rent are about a 1/4 mile and are very reasonable. We always felt safe walking along the road or beach. Roberto is the manager of Hacienda De La Tortuga and was very helpful. Owner, Cherri was a pleasure to work with. We will return sooner then later. We have been to Cancun, Cozumel & Isla Mujeres and Akumal has now become our favorite place.

The good: Very clean; comfortable king-size bed; awesome ocean view; Cherri (owner) was very responsive to questions and easy to deal with; easy parking; mostly quiet building; very good (but not great) restaurant downstairs; Roberto (manager) helpful; super daily maid service; located on the ocean; the hammock! The area is very safe and people are friendly. The bad: Unit is Mediterranean cute, but dated; lots of bed pillows, but not a decent one in the bunch; floors are ceramic tile and slippery, no matter how clean they are--the humidity keeps everything a bit damp; third floor, no elevator; adjusting hot and cold water in the shower is practically rocket science. The ugly: The restaurant was mostly very quiet at night, unless a loud-mouthed drunk or two are present. Fortunately, this only happened one night. Overall, it was a very good experience. None of the "bads," were real spoilers. We would rent again.

Relaxing Holiday on Half Moon Bay

This was our second trip to Half Moon Bay, but the first at Hacienda de la Tortuga. We had a great trip, really enjoyed the apartment and the property. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we loved having La Lunita restaurant downstairs - excellent food and interesting menu. The balcony has a spectacular view of the whole bay, and is very private. We could see both sunrise and sunset at this time of year. We had thoughts of doing tours and cenotes etc. but in the end we never left Akumal (didn't have, or need, a car). It was quite windy while we were there (first two weeks of January), but we snorkeled almost every day, and the two really calm days were just spectacular. The reef is shallow for quite a long way out, and the best snorkeling is farther out near the breakers. But even in the shallows there are lots of fish and the occasional very large ray resting in the sand. The walk in to Akumal is very pleasant, and the Super Chomak, though not really a fully stocked grocery store, has everything you need if you want to eat at home. We found we ate out much less than expected. Our host Cherri recommended USA Transfers for the trip to and from Cancun airport, and they were very good - met us at arrivals with a comfortable van and picked us up on time on the way home. We'd been concerned about the seaweed problem that exists throughout the Caribbean, and there is certainly a lot of it. But Hacienda de la Tortuga was very good about cleaning their beachfront, as were most of the properties on Half Moon Bay. So we never found it to be a problem. We'd highly recommend this condo, and we'll be back.

Perfect location, perfect views- exactly what we were looking for!

We are a family of 3 (we have an 8 year old), and were looking for something other than an all-inclusive resort. My desire was to get us off the beaten path a bit, and this condo i Akumal was perfect. We stayed March 17-23 for my son's spring break week. The weather was beautiful when we were in Akumal- it rained once, but mostly mid 80's. The condo is in the best part of Turtle Bay, in my opinion, for snorkeling. If you snorkel straight out from the shore, or veer either left or right out to the break, you can see a ton of sea life. A person can walk from there to anywhere in Akumal, essentially. We rented a golf cart for 40.00 per day for part of our stay- it makes it easier to get groceries, etc. The condo itself is light and airy, and we did not use the air conditioning at all (located in the bedroom only)- we just left the windows open and turned on the ceiling fans. We were never hot. There were a few stocked complimentary items- coffee, seltzer, milk, dry creamer and sugar which was nice, since we got in extremely late on Sunday night. The kitchen is perfect to cook in for a short time. The king bed in the bedroom is very comfortable. My son said the bed he slept on in the living room was "OK" as well. The view from the balcony is unbeatable- waking up to that ocean view every day is just amazing. The maid service was great (you don't have to have them clean every day, but if you do make sure to tip). Roberto at the front desk is fabulous and speaks very good English (my Spanish is minimal). he was very accommodating and can arrange anything you need. Cherri, the condo owner was very accommodating as well, and extremely helpful and flexible with us. I loved this place and did not want to leave! The one drawback is the restaurant downstairs, located directly beneath the balcony, can get a bit noisy until 10 pm or so, but we were so exhausted each night and slept so well it really didn't bother us. As far as drawbacks go, it's a small one. We will definitely be back to this beautiful, amazing place!
