Summer Getaway

The stay was absolutely wonderful. The pool was an oasis in the Texas mid-July heat. The rest of the amenities were a plus, and there are many. If it's watching TV at the outside bar or viewing a great move during the night while you cool off floating in the pool, this place has everything. The host is spectacular.

Check in was super easy. Property was as advertised. Amenities were beyond great. Hershel & Becky were terrific hosts. The kitchen was equipped with any and everything you would ever need. The house & property were very clean. The pool was a definite highlight of this property. The outdoor kitchen with the sink, ice maker & refrigerator was a great added touch. The property was just as beautiful in person as the online pictures that drew me in to book it originally. The house was FULLY stocked with plenty of everything—towels, beach towels, pool floats, games, technology, entertainment, kitchen, etc. I think there was truly one of every single kitchen appliance you could think of. It's evident that the owners have put a lot of thought and care into providing the best experience possible for all potential renters. We will recommend this property to all of our friends and are talking about when we will be able to return! We floated the San Marcos River one day using Don's Fish Camp for float rentals and transportation, which was about a 25-minute drive from the property. It was a great much needed relaxing vacation for our family.

Outstanding Home

This property was absolutely perfect in every way. The house was immaculate. It lacks for nothing. The kitchen was fully stocked with every item you could possibly need. The amount of towels in the bathrooms were over flowing. The pool area with the waterfall was spectacular. The outdoor kitchen was extraordinary. This is a 5 star top notch property. A great New Year’s!

My family and I stayed here and it was wonderful. The pictures are accurate and I encourage anyone who is looking for a restful place to stay away from the city, to consider this place. Fishing was fun in the tank (perch and catfish) watching movies on the big screen by the pool was fantastic, and the use of the golf cart was a bonus. The hosts are nice and easy to deal with. Beds were super comfortable too. Plenty of space to relax and hang out.

First off, amazing property! We stay at multiple Vrbo houses each year and I can definitely say this was on the top of everyone’s list to return back. The house and all is very well equipped and CLEAN! Cleanliness is top of our priority list if that helps anyone. The pool was 100% crystal clear, I was shocked to be honest how clear it was. Everything was well stocked and planned out. It looks like someone took their time in making sure every angle was covered for guest enjoyment. All the speaker systems were very convenient. The huge stack of pool towels and toy bin at the back door made it so much easier with the kids! Projector is a bit old but got the job done. There was a big wasp nest under the pavilion but that can be expected in Texas. Herschel gave us a run through of all the technology in the house/patio/pool when we arrived. Very hospitable and thorough. Appreciate the attention to detail! Thanks again and see you next time!

As many reviewers have stated, the property is exactly as described, if not better. Tons of things to keep all age groups entertained, and the fishing was an excellent treat for the kids. They caught (and released) a lot of fish!!The sleeping accommodations were great with very comfortable beds, lots of towels, a kitchen that has everything you need to cook for a big group, and a ton of seating in the outdoor space which included pool, hot tub, fire pit, and an outdoor kitchen that has inspired a construction project at home.The owners are very quick to respond and accommodating.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone heading to the area. A perfect spot to rest, relax, and catch up with friends and family. We look forward to coming back!

Wonderful getaway

Very nice property. Wonderfully decorated with attention to detail. The pool has a really nice water fall that is relaxing. We enjoyed the movie by the pool. Game room was awesome. And the hosts were extremely polite and gracious.

Hershel, a commercial construction project manager, has a passion for working his land and restoring classic cars, jukeboxes, and vintage Coke machines. He also loves cooking up catfish and crawfish for large gatherings. Becky, a semi-retired executive leadership coach, finds joy in cruising the open seas and spending quality time with her four grandchildren. Together, they share a love for cheering on the University of Texas football team.

Why they chose this property

We wanted a property close to Austin with plenty of space for privacy, so we purchased 10 acres in Bastrop County close to COTA and the airport. Hershel built this beautiful home and continues to find new ways to enhance it. He never misses an opportunity to put his tractor and backhoe to good use!

What makes this property unique

This property is truly special, offering plenty of space for everyone to gather together or break off into smaller groups for different activities. The large outdoor movie screen and projector are perfect for a night swim or relaxing in the pool while enjoying a movie. You can unwind in the hot tub, grill steaks in the outdoor kitchen and bar area while watching your favorite sports, or simply enjoy some downtime.

Kids can play foosball or enjoy outdoor games, and if it rains, there's a spacious covered area to stay dry. On chilly nights, the outdoor fireplace adds warmth and ambiance, while the fire pit provides the perfect spot for group conversations under the stars. Inside the house, the game room offers a pool table, darts, and a large TV for family movie nights, with plenty of films to choose from. Board games are also available for fun family bonding.

Down by the pond, you’ll find a covered patio with an outdoor fire pit—perfect for telling ghost stories. Although the Texas rain has been limited, the pond still has fish to catch, but be mindful of the steep dock until water levels return. You can also explore the 10 acres on the golf cart for a unique adventure.

The well-stocked kitchen includes all the small appliances needed to prepare a gourmet meal, and with five comfortable bedrooms and three bathrooms, there's plenty of space to relax and recharge. Whether you’re enjoying outdoor activities or indoor entertainment, this property promises a memorable stay!
