Casa de la Reina is a breathtakingly beautiful private home owned and designed by a veterinarian/zoologist couple with a dream of creating a retreat for people and wildlife alike.

Nestled in a serene and peaceful jungle setting, with a botanical garden designed specifically to attract visiting wildlife, Casa de la Reina has become known for the amazing variety of animals that visit on a daily basis.

The home is surrounded by lush tropical forest, and sits just off a peaceful and quiet road away from traffic noise or city lights - yet just a few minutes walk to the main road of Manuel Antonio, and only 3 miles from Manuel Antonio Main beach and world-famous National Park.

Just minutes from our home in every direction you'll find superb restaurants, unique shops, cafes, art galleries, sports pubs, music venues, food stores and more.

We're only 3 minutes from vibrant Quepos town with all its restaurants, clothing and souvenir stores, markets (including farmer's market, meat and fish and organic markets).

Also in Quepos and only 10 minutes away is the famous Pez Marina with its awesome high-end shopping, marvelous restaurants, fishing charters, world-class fishing tournaments, family friendly outdoor movie nights and live music under the stars.

Our home boasts a one-of-a-kind chef's dream kitchen, 3 lovely bedrooms (each with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that look onto our deck and the esquisite jungle scenery).

The kitchen is spacious, generous with top amenities and filled with everything you need to cook your own masterpieces. It features a custom-made kitchen table/island that comfortably seats six and overlooks the living room with its high ceilings and spectacular view of the gorgeous deck and infinity pool.

Our amazing deck is partially covered so folks can eat outside on the beautiful Guanacaste wood dining table and happily converse in comfort - even in a jungle downpour. Grill tasty meals on the propane BBQ grill, relax on our comfy lounge chairs, take a nap on our giant hammock!

Custom-made bamboo tables and chairs outside of each bedroom are perfect for sipping delicious coffee in the morning while enjoying the stunning beauty of the jungle garden view.

Our three bedrooms each have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows that open up onto the deck and pool, luxuriously comfortable beds, super-quiet A/C and powerful overhead fans.

There are two bathrooms, one shared and a master bath, both with spacious standing showers with built-in shelves for shampoos and body wash, plus custom-made cabintry for toiletries.

The living room is airey with a gorgeous high ceiling and sliding glass door that opens onto the pool deck. The living room also has a cozy love chair, a super-comfy couch (extra long and specially-designed for even a very tall person to get a wonderful night’s sleep) a smart TV and beautifully designed coffee table where you can work on your computer while watching your favorite shows.

Our jungle garden is lush with palms, flowering fruit trees, towering jungle trees, colorful flowers as well as visiting exotic birds, butterflies, iguanas, monkeys, macaws, sloths and more, our home is indeed its own little paradise. We are blessed by an amazing variety of wildlife that visit us on a daily basis.

Our property is a favorite too for avian visitors including toucans, scarlet macaws, hawks, tanagers, exotic woodpeckers, fly catchers, brilliant hummingbirds, emerald-green mot-mots and so many more- we're a bird-watcher's HEAVEN!

While we only have parking for one car within our security gate, we do have room for another just outside our gate, which is monitored by 24-hour security cameras and very bright motion-detector lights.

Our visitors have so many options for sightseeing, tours, adventures, hikes, jungle romps, wonderful restaurants, live music, esquisite beaches, visiting wildlife, and gorgeous scenery - every day is an amazing adventure and a wonderful opportunity to make unforgettable memories you will cherish.

Casa de la Reina - the House of the Queen - a paradise within paradise.

About the host

Hosted by Teya King

Host profile image
Hi! I'm Teya King, and my husband Jay and I have been in love with Manuel Antonio since the first time we visited in '2006.

I was born and raised in Southern California, and Manuel Antonio reminded me so much of my childhood home of Laguna Beach that I knew I one day wanted to live here. Both my husband (who is a veterinarian) and I love the scenery, vibe and especially wildife of Manuel Antonio - in fact, my husband works with several wildlife sanctuaries throughout Costa Rica.

Since our first visit, we have made a great community of friends in Manuel Antonio, with the dream of one day building a place where we could host family and visitors in this beautiful area. Our dream finally came true when we finished contruction on Casa de la Reina and she welcomed her first visitors in Feb 2023!

We split our time between Saint Louis, Missouri, and Manuel Antonio, and will soon begin building our retirement home in Quepos.

When you arrive at La Reina feel free to reach out and say 'Hola.' If we're in town we'd be delighted to meet you - we always enjoy meeting new friends!

Why they chose this property

La Reina was a labor of love and it took a small village of dedicated, hard-working folks to have her completely built and ready for visitors in less than six months!

When we first saw this little jungle lot, we knew it was perfect for us. So close to everything, yet in it's own little private jungle setting.

We get daily visits from monkeys, macaws and other brilliantly-colored birds, gorgeous butterflies, the occasional sloth, and even have our own resident iguana, "Stumpy," who enjoys snacking on the fruit that our visitors love to leave him.

Casa de la Reina is a lovely home with a peaceful energy. This is the perfect location if you're looking for adventures, and also the perfect place to forget your troubles, take a deep breath and relax.

What makes this property unique

While only a short walk to the main thoroughfare of Manuel Antonio that brings visitors from around the world to and from the world-famous National Park and Manuel Antonio main beach and attractions, our home sits on the end of a quiet street (you will NEVER hear traffic noise from the main road!), and protected from the distractions of civilization by our own beautiful jungle forest.
By foot, we are less than a 10-minute walk or a 3-minute drive to the main road and bus stops.
One bus goes to the beach, a 6 to 10-minute ride depending on traffic.
The other bus goes into the bustling town of Quepos (3 mins), where you can find shopping, Farmer's Market, Restaurants, bars, discos, souvenir shops, the main soccer field, main bus station and the world-famous marina.
Location-wise, we are close to everything, but 'hidden' away in our own little private, peaceful jungle when you want to get away from the noise and bustle.
During our guests stay, our team will be available to answer any questions about tours or sightseeing adventures, help with transportation to and from airport, and given excellent recommendations for restaurants, night life, local events, etc.
When the host is in town, she delights in taking guests around town and bringing them to unique and wonderful places in Manuel Antonio and Quepos and surrounds. Many guests have thoroughly enjoyed these private (FREE) 'Teya Tours' and she is loves sharing this beautiful area with them.
